Anyone find a way to make the trip ticker move along a little faster?

I don't think I can survive 3 months...

Book another trip???

If you start over with another ticker, it will go back to the beginning again, but I think the movement each day is slightly bigger. I just never had the heart to start over and go back to the beginning!

I am still chuckling about Dee's Time Out Corner by Starring Rolls. I noticed you all don't seem to like ABC (I have never tried it) but I just saw thee new menu for there posted on the Disney Food Blog pinboard...I will try to attach the picture or maybe just a link if it lets me....maybe this is a better offering?

I think it's basically the same old, same old, gussied up on a menu board in a new marketing attempt. The food tastes rushed, old and cold, hence the unloved nature of this location. The actual dining area is nice to sit in but a bit noisy with the TV's and the crowd noise. They have tables and chairs and upholstered benches against the wall. Since it is cafeteria seating there is no one herding you out to clear the table for the next person. On a hot day this cool location is a real respite when you just need to sit and recharge. Bringing over the better fare from Starring Rolls really helps to take the edge off as well.

Hello everyone! I have been lurking on this thread for a few weeks, ever since I booked our first-ever trip to BC for July 20-26. You seem like a fun, friendly group, so I thought I'd finally say hello and introduce myself! I am Lynette, a longtime DISer. I used to be a frequent poster on the CB (among other places), but haven't been around much recently.

We have been to WDW several times, but have always stayed at AKL in a Savannah View room. That resort just feels like home to us! But this time around, DH has decided he really wants to mix it up and stay somewhere (anywhere!) different, so BC it is! Based on all the info and photos I've found here, I am sure my family and I will love BC, but I am secretly a tiny bit sad that I won't be staying at AKL. My kids, who really adore AKL too, were won over to BC when I showed them photos of SAB. Plus, we have the recommendation of a good family friend whose favorite resort is BC. We are fortunate enough that this friend even booked our stay for us using a CM Friends & Family discount. :goodvibes

We are actually going to be staying off-property from the 14th to the 19th (totally NOT my idea!), and then moving over to Beach Club on the 20th. So much of this trip is outside of our usual WDW trip that I am feeling angst-y about it. It goes against my inner control freak to delve into the unknown. :rotfl:

Now you all have WAY more info about me than you ever wanted. Feel free to shoot me suggestions about being a first-time guest at Beach Club. Do's, don'ts, whatever you've got! Nice to meet you all!

:welcome: :grouphug:

I think it's all in how you think about it. AKL will still be there for the next trip so try to think of it as an adventure. I would also plan a meal at the lodge so you all can stop by and say hello to your much loved location. That's what we do when we aren't staying at the Beach Club. For our last trip we stayed at POFQ but we stopped at the BC twice, once to see Teena again and once to have Ice Cream at Beaches and Cream! I always tell myself that one day I'll be back to my favorite location, and staying at the other places keeps it fresh and exciting.

Oh no! Quick, try to find a big bowl of fruit to sit next to then you can imagine you are here too!

Have a good day! I will swim a lap in SAB in your honor...

:rotfl2: :lmao: Have a great trip and enjoy the bananas!

Now you're talking :). Could you throw in a Sunken Treasure while you're at it?

P S. couldn't find a bowl of fruit here, but I work with a bunch of Nuts..... I'll go stand by them :)

I think I know the answer to this but I am trying to craft my standard view YC room request. Opinions, pretty please?

Would you put your *preferred* location or your *avoid* location? I would like to avoid the middle section of rooms that overlook the kitchen roof. Should I say that? Or, should I say I would prefer the rooms over the YC entrance and, if facing the front, to the right of the entrance? Thinking of saying "quiet pool side of building" which, while I know there are no standard rooms facing toward the quiet pool would still indicate the direction where I would like to be. Bad idea? I could keep it simple, like, "parking lot view, not roof, please"?

I realize room requests posts are wildly unpopular and I realize there isn't much knowledge about YC's non CL standard rooms here, but I would appreciate thoughts on stating preferred location vs. avoid location especially. Thanks as always!

Dee: I hope you were no where near the Marathon today, or any if our other Dis BCYC friends?!

My prayers to all in that area, and to any injured runner or bystander.

Thanks for thinking of me. I'm safe. I have a couple of friends who were running. Facebook postings say the mom and dad are ok, but they haven't heard yet from the rest of the team, including their two kids. Although it sounds like it is mostly spectator who were injured. There's lots of confusion.

ETA: Just saw on FB that the two children are fine, too. Phew.

I haven't heard of any of our DIS friends running Boston. I hope that is correct.

Prayers to all who are injured and to families that they reunite quickly.

Scary and sickening!

Sending hugs:hug: & love  to my Boston/New England friends here on the board. My prayers are with you & your city.

Dee - thought of you immediately.

DH has run the Boston Marathon 3 times. Thank goodness he wasn't there today.

Prayers to all who were there.

Been checking in on my facebook, checking in on all my friends in boston (I know two that run, both opted out this year). So tragic. Just praying for those affected.

On a lighter note, I got my mickey mail today.

Scary times here in Boston. I work at the hospital they brought most of the victims to. It was a surreal scene, like something out of a movie. Unexplainable.

Prayers out to the victims and their families. Just awful!!

Just wanted to say hello to all my DIS friends tonight. A special hello to our friends in the Boston area.

And Jay I will say a special 'thank you' to you and all the folks that reach out to help people in their dark hours.
