Check in time at the BC and YC is 3 PM.
Check in time at the BCV is 4 PM.

Check in time does NOT mean the room will be ready at that exact time. That's the time everybody hopes and most of the time the rooms are ready by that time but it is not guaranteed.

I waited until 5:30 PM once at the Grand Floridian. When the resorts are full and there is a large turn-around (meaning for example 250 check out today and 250 check in today) and most of the check-outs don't leave until 11:00 PM, there is no way all the rooms are going to be ready by 3:00 PM.

I found this on the Disney website and is confirms what I said above as far as check-in times:

Online Check-in – Frequently Asked Questions

Q.
Does Online Check-In guarantee that my room is ready when I arrive at my Disney Resort hotel?

A.
No. Rooms and campsites are available at the standard check-in time of 4:00 PM for Disney Deluxe Villas, 1:00 PM for The Campsites at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and 3:00 PM for the other Disney Resort hotels.

The check in times at the BC, YC and BCV have been what I stated above for the nine years I've worked there.

I just made my final payment on our June 8-15 YC vacation. I guess that makes it a little more real to me!!!!!! I can't wait!

Such a great feeling!!!

If you'd like to make my payments since you're already in the habit, just let me know :).

I booked a room at the Hard Rock Hotel once and did not get in the room until 7:30 due to cleaning. Granted that was unusual but it does happen.

It does happen, for sure. I have waited even longer for a room at WL. The issue, for me, is that there are BC CMs telling people check in is 4 pm when it isn't true. Shouldn't they be trained to say just as Teena posted...we do our best to have most rooms available by 3 pm but can't guarantee it rather than insisting check in is actually at 4 pm?

So many of our CMs are college kids and when you have two resorts at the same place with different check in times, they get confused. And usually, and this is totally wrong, they assume you are asking about the Beach Club Villas when you say Beach Club. A woman the other day insisted she was staying in the Beach Club ... she wasn't, she was in the Beach Club Villas.

No excuse ... you were given wrong information!

I would have said, "I'm staying in the Beach Club Resort, not the Beach Club Villas." And that might not have gotten you a different answer either. If you get CMs that just don't know.

Make sure when you fill out your survey after you get home you mention this. It needs to be fixed!!! Those surveys are very very important - they get read!

Hi All,

Sorry if this has been asked like a thousand times. We'll be arriving in a 2BR in a few weeks and the wife wants to bring her own coffee and filters. I saw an earlier post mentioning they are mr. coffee machines that should accept standard filters (in a studio), but that the 2br are different . Can anyone confirm what is in the 2br?

Thanks,
John

This is the coffeemaker which was in my brother's family's 2BR at BCV in March 2012:

I didn't use it, so I can't tell you what the filters were.

If it helps, for comparison purposes here's the coffeemaker from my studio (and again I didn't use it):

Our first trip with our youngest kids (2003) we stayed at the Grand Floridian.

We were not able to get into our room until 4:30.

Of course THIS was the trip where ds (not quite 3 at the time) got sick as we were landing - all over me. No matter how much we washed up I know we had a sour smell. Couldn't even just sit outside - it was raining. Here we sat in the beautiful GF lobby. To top it off (this was before ME) our luggage was left outside and it was all wet!

First day of a first trip - thankfully things got much better after that. That's why we're taking our 16th trip this summer!

Love it when we can get it our room early, but never expect it.

Thanks for clarifying everyone. I wasn't trying to come across difficult or like we were thinking we were entitled to get in early. We were told the room would be ready by three the latest so we planned for that. I'll sign off for now.

They really read them? cause we had HUGE issues at the BWI last year and I wrote everything in the survey and NEVER heard back a peep. I would think that what happened with us and our issues would have been contacted.
But I can see having issues getting a large number of rooms ready, I just like honesty about the situation-

I totally agree about honesty and maybe I'm naïve but I think it's normally not an honesty issue. I've never heard a CM at the Y&B tell a lie to someone on purpose when they knew they were lying. I think it's a matter of the CM not knowing the correct information.

I can tell you at the Y&B the surveys are read and talked about at meetings in the various departments.

If someone has a major issues that isn't resolved to your satisfaction, I suggest firing off an email to guest communications in addition to the survey. You will most likely get a phone call shortly thereafter.

if you want to walk from beach club how and can you get to soarin and characters before the show case opens at 11 or do you have to bus it or drive it..thanks

I bet there is confusion between BC and BCV among CMs, makes total sense since they checking in both types of guests.

I didn't think you were difficult! A frustrating situation, for sure. I hope the rest of your trip is fantastic.

Our daughter worked in the college program at the GF. Great experience for her. But Teena is correct that many of the CM are college kids with different levels of experience and maturity. I can see how things can get a little crazy during busy times when people are checking in. We are making a special trip to the Grand when we are there in May to check out the re-furbishment.

You can walk to the international gateway and through world showcase before future world's rope drop! You can't linger in WS as most of it, except the bakery in France, is closed but you can get to all the FW attractions for the 9 am opening.

When I stayed in the Beach Club in December of 2012 I did not receive a survey but I did write a letter and snail mailed it to the General Manager of the Beach Club/Yacht Club hotel (it's the same person). About 4 weeks later I received a reply from her.

The contact information for the resort General Manager is listed on page one of this thread. I have no idea who the General Manager of the Boardwalk Inn is but I know that the General Manager of the Yacht and Beach Club read and replied to my letter.
Perhaps not all GM's operate with the same attention to guest communications. Perhaps even not all letters warrant a reply from the Resort's GM.

In any case, if Teena recommends that you contact both the resort GM and WDW Guest services then I am sure that that is the best way to address a concern or provide a compliment after you have checked out.

I'm sorry that you had a problem checking in. It definitely sounds like it was not handled well. When I am faced with exceptional service or problematic service I make a note of the CM's name on my phone. I have a "Color Note" app that functions like a post it note. When I go to guest services or write a letter to the GM I can relay the Name of the person doing the "good job" or "Dirty Deed". At least this way the individual is recognized for their behavior, either good or bad.

Like my Momma used to say "They can't all be winners". Give the GM at the resort the chance to fix the problem by telling her what happened and who was involved.

Sometimes in a difficult situation like yours it's the best that you can do. I hope things go more smoothly for you and you have the best of vacations.

Interesting. Two cms and a manager all told us that the cm who said three was wrong. We are in a room now finally. I can't find the check in time on anything official. It's a room only so no packet. We just came from POR and our packet for that said 3 pm. Not that that means anything for BC but I just found it interesting.

This is nice clear language from our reservation confirmation. Only Disney could get away with such obscure check-in and check-out times. Even a Ho-Jo's is clear with this info.

Copy and pasted directly from my confirmation:
Resort Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in time is usually between 3 and 4 p.m. (some hotels have check-in after 4 p.m.), and check-out time is usually between 11 a.m. and 12 noon. During peak periods, check-in may be delayed one to two hours.

Yes, you enter thought the International Gateway entrance and they will only let you walk past the UK and Canada pavilions to get to Futureworld. To get to the IG, you exit the back of the BC on the lake side and walk to Epcot.

That's strange. I have a room only reservation for August and I just pulled up the email confirmation and it does not specify any check in time. Is your confirmation from Disney or a non-Disney travel agent? My confirmation specifies "requests" are not guaranteed, etc. but does not give check in times.
