Do most BC folks walk to HS, take the boat, or ride the bus?

My vote is boat to HS, walk to Epcot

Definitely walk to EP.

We would probably walk more to/from HS if our trips were during cooler times of the year.

Our visits to BC have been in July, and we usually take the boat in the morning and then if we are coming back in the evening, our tradition is to race the boat back from HS. A couple of our favorite memories are racing the boat back from HS in 2009 and 2010:

We exited the Hollywood Studios, picked up our bag of wet clothes (we had been to Blizzard Beach earlier that day) from the luggage locker (only $1!!!)and then had to decide whether to use the Friendship boats or walk back to the Beach Club.

We eyed the line at the boats, and I thought we would get on, but since Hollywood Studios had just closed, Mark was afraid the boat would be crowded.

Some of you may recall that one of my favorite memories from last year was racing the Friendship boat back to the Beach Club after Fantasmic! We were ahead for the awhile, then the boat pulled ahead of us but we ultimately and just barely beat the boat. We were near the YC when the boat docked and started letting off people. It was going to be close, so my oldest son Nate raced ahead so he could enter the BC before a couple of girls in their 20's who had come from the boat. As he entered the doors, he turned around to do a playful "in your face dance". And he tripped on the rug! The girls smiled and our family cracked up!

We decided to walk. Despite our marathon day, leaving our resort at 7:30 AM, EMH at AK, a couple of hours at BB, dinner at Boma, and a visit to HS, it was on, baby!

At first, we had the race well in hand. The boat was loading and hadn’t even left the dock yet. But once it got going, the boat closed the gap easily. The boat caught up to us at the bridge, but the stop at S/D really held it up. It was a personal challenge for Nate, so he was keeping a pretty brisk pace and the four of us ended up beating the boat. Nate recreated his “grand entrance” from last year. Sorry for the blurry shots.

Would you like to be added to the Be Our Guest list on Page 1? When is your trip?

:cool1:

Others have answered your question about getting to the World Showcase. Here is the info and pictures from the Other Useful Info post on Page 1:

Hi everyone! We just booked our trip for June 17-24. Looking forward to returning to WDW, haven't been since 2009, and our second time at Beach Club.

Usually we book 6 months+ ahead, but cancelled a trip later in the summer where we were stopping in Disneyland and had to find a use for some Southwest funds. Disneyworld seemed to be everyone's choice! Have a lot of catching up to do, meal planning, etc. Since our 20th anniversary happens around the same time, we'll have to celebrate somehow ;-)

Time to start reading all the great info at the start of this thread...

:welcome:

I have added you to the Be Our Guest list. Please let us know if you have any questions!

:woohoo:

Just returned from first stay at YC! It was fabulous! (I had stayed at BCV twice before.). I really liked being first on, first off the bus!! I also loved that crew cup lounge had coffee ready by 5:15 every day! It wasn't good coffee - but it was hot!! And, I loved that the boat dock was a few steps closer. The only negative I can think of is that we had to walk to beachclub marketplace (ok - only I did!) to refill mugs when we went to pool at 10 on checkout day, because both Hurricane Hanna's and The ice cream shop are closed until 11 am.

Thanks for your report! I'm so glad to hear you had a great time. Thanks for the info about the opening times at B&C and HH.

What were the showerheads like? Regular or rainhead? Up high or too low?

:goodvibes

I will be at the YC tomorrow!!!!!!!

Gotta get through this last day of work/school and then vacation!!!!!:goodvibes

Have a great trip, and yes, triple bananas for you!:banana::banana:

Hi Hi All!

We are trully on a trip of a lifetime...Thanks to Disney and the New Years Disney Time contest.

Beach Club was our first pick, but were just as happy to get the Yacht Club.

We will be staying June 1-5

(Now to catch up on this thread,,, it moves so fast)

And really, thank you so much for everyone who posts here!

I have added you to the Be Our Guest list.

Congratulations on your win!!! Can't wait to hear how your trips is.

:thumbsup2

:) I chuckled

Thanks!

and :welcome:

I don't see you on the Be Our Guest list yet. August? Which resort?

:woohoo:

BTW- I see in your signature that you have had a couple of recent stays at HRH- we will be there in July before our Beach Club stay. Any hints or tips? We were at Portofino in 2011.

Does anyone remember what type of shower head are in the rooms at YC. We stayed at POR RR on our last trip they had huge shower heads being short it was awesome. My husband fell in love with the shower.

Does the YC have the same ones?

Not sure how old the photo is, but here's one posted on AllEars.net (Link). It's listed under the heading for "CONCIERGE ROOM QUEEN BEDS - INTERIOR".

I have questions regarding online check in vs. regular check in. Do the room assigners assign rooms to the online check in people first and then the regular check in people get what is available when they get there? I'm just trying to figure out what method gives you the best chance of getting requests met. If the room assigners give the balconies ahead of time to the online check ins who request that, would your chances be diminished by regular check in? Or, do the room assigners assign rooms to all reservations a day or two ahead of time regardless of check in status?

Thanks!!!!!!:)

Not sure about the BC/YC, but twice we have done the online check in at the Polynesian and yes our requests were all met, down to the room number. That may be rare though, not sure. :)

Can I ask you about the shower heads at the yacht club. Are they the huge shower heads like a rain shower? :goodvibes thanks so much

When we stayed at BC we walked to Epcot but had to take bus to Epcot because dock was closed for repairs, we were so sad! When we stayed ay YC last year we finally got to take the boat to HS, we loved it. I love sitting on the outside bench of the boat!

Thanks!

I LOVE HRH-- It is so easy to walk to the parks from that hotel than any other -- I can PM regarding any details about the hotel :)

Great!!! I'll add you to the list next time I make an update.

That's exactly why we chose HRH. We have accessed City Walk by the parking lot of HR- we used Bubba Mom's walking shortcut from the Portofino so we know how close it is! I'll send you a PM if I think of any questions. Thanks!

You will find the same thing with YC and EPCOT- the location is awesome!

One month from today we will be at BC! We are so excited. I finally received my Mickey mail and I think I finally have all of my ADR'S finalized. Here is what we have planned:

Friday 5/17 Captains Grille
Saturday 5/18 San Angel Inn
Sunday 5/19 Yak & Yeti
Monday 5/20 Back Stage Magic Tour
Via Napoli for dinner
Tuesday 5/21 Sci-fi (lunch)
Hoop de doo Review (dinner)
Wednesday 5/22 La Hacienda de San Angel
Thursday 5/23 Boma
Friday 5/24. BOG (lunch)
Marakesh (dinner)
Saturday 5/25 'Ohana
Sunday 5/26 Biergarten

We have Park hoppers so will have dinner at Epcot on days we are at other parks. Our plan is to spend mornings at the parks and return to BC for an afternoon break. I have planned to visit each park twice. Honestly many of the rides are the same rides that we have here in California so we won't feel the pressure to get on some of the rides if the lines are really long. Hoping to just enjoy each park and take our time.

Anything I have missed that you feel is a "must do" for a first time WDW visit?

Thanks so much for everyone's valuable input.

Mmmm....extra grounds. I was hoping it had switched to Joffrey's or whatever

And thanks for the laundry info. I think I will surprise my wife and do the laundry before everyone wakes up

YOU ROCK!!

All the men on this thread love to do laundry for their wives while on vacation. Can we assimilate you into this cult? ;) :laundy:

We boated it!
(is 'boated' a word??)
(( I better use it in a sentence... I felt very boated after I ate too much at the Cape May buffet.))
((( Meh, maybe not... )))

I'm going to make sure and leave your response OPEN on my computer at home, in hopes that DH will read that little part about YOU DOING THE LAUNDRY.

Not that it will help, but it's worth a try!!

That's strange. I have a room only reservation for August and I just pulled up the email confirmation and it does not specify any check in time. Is your confirmation from Disney or a non-Disney travel agent? My confirmation specifies "requests" are not guaranteed, etc. but does not give check in times.

Copy and pasted directly from my confirmation:
Resort Check-In/Check-Out
Check-in time is usually between 3 and 4 p.m. (some hotels have check-in after 4 p.m.), and check-out time is usually between 11 a.m. and 12 noon. During peak periods, check-in may be delayed one to two hours.

Reply: Booked through Disney in January and from the Reservation Confirmation document- it was in the fine print of the contractual language under the details of the reservation.
