On the Tragical Depress off to the airport. Flying straight to a Breast Cancer conference in San Antonio. Had a magical time, booked two bounce back trips and will post a mini trip report when I am in front of a computer. Thanks everyone for all the great tips and friendship! Somehow this group manages to feel like being at the YC. :-)

Congrats Nanette, clearly you've recruited DH to the multiple trips per year club! :thumbsup2

Sounds like a great trip!

Yes he asked to go back and wanted to stay at YC! I wanted him to stay at AKL so I booked that as well! He is retiring and this trip will come after our move to Dallas, so it should really be a fun time!! We also decided to drive when we go so we could see that part of the country... Hopefully we don't kill each other on the way!!! :)

Sorry .... I have no idea about the holiday scents. The one in the BC makes me gag whenever I work.

It was rather strong! It was so good to see you and talk with you!! Enjoy the holiday's with the girls!!

The joy (and danger) of retirement - you get to see if you really like hanging out with each other all day!

We are booked for BCR for next September. In the system it looks like it's going to allow me to customize our magic bands already. I've gone as far as the page which allows me to select colors. I haven't actually done it because I want the kids to be able to pick out their colors themselves. Does that seem correct? I didn't think you could customize magic bands until much closer to your trip??

Thanks!

We were able to customize our bands for our October 2014 trip, which was a surprise. I guess the system is now set up to let you do it as soon as you book the reservation. You can change colors up until ship date, which for us is something like 282 days away. :)

Wow - I had no idea. I was afraid to actually customize them this early. The system has been so glitchy that I'm always nervous about screwing something up. Good to know - thanks!

Hey folks! Just checking in. My plans for next year have changed a bit. I booked a 7 day Western Caribbean Cruise on the Disney Fantasy for 8/2/2014. I managed to snag 5 round trip tickets to Orlando for 8/1 and returning home on 8/10. Right now I'm booked at the MCO Hyatt for 8/1, and I think I'll leave that one as we don't land until 3:30 pm the day before the cruise. I think you get off the ship pretty early in the morning, so I'm considering staying one night at the Beach Club before heading home. I'm booked in a room on the return at the Hyatt, but I think the airport would be pretty boring and SAB is our favorite pool. What would you do? A standard room at the BC would be about $100 or so more than the two rooms I have booked for the 5 of us at a the airport.

personal opinion , i would just go to the airport, the Hyatt, is a nice hotel, plus you can watch the planes take off from their pool, plus then your already at the airport no worrying about running late for a bus or much, plus its just an elevator ride away from security

We are staying BCR next September and booked CL. Last time we were upgraded to a deluxe room and it was amazing. We loved it. It overlooked the quiet pool - I believe on the 2nd or 3rd floor. But, we were miles from the CL lounge. It was a long walk every time we wanted something. I don't like doing a lot of room requests - I like to just see where the magic takes me. :) But, I have thought of putting in a room request for "close to the lounge". I'm just always afraid that I'm missing out on something better because I'm micro-managing where I'm going to end up. Does that make any sense? I know I'm overthinking this!

So, do most CL guests end up fairly close to the lounge anyway?

Thanks!

When we have stay CL we were in the 2nd hallway down on the 5th floor , but it is a small price to pay , considering what that walk gets you

Anyone else annoyed that BnC is doing adr's now. We enjoyed on our last stay being able to drop in impromptu. We tend to eat at weird times while on vacation, so for an early dinner...4ish we only waited 5 mins. Now I have to plan it out. We don't do many adr's anymore because we don't like all the planning. Grrrr...:furious:

I'm not too thrilled with it.

I've eaten there at peak dinner time as a solo diner several times and it was so nice not to have to mess with an ADR. I could usually get a quick seat at the counter.

But now, even those will probably have to be booked in advance. Blech.

Wow! It has been REALLY quiet around here lately

pages 212-217

We still have a couple of unanswered questions going back a few pages. If anyone has info on the following questions, please post

1) Approx when do park and resort Christmas decorations come down?

2) Anyone know anything about the Epcot Wine Tastings- how much, how big are the pours, how is the wine?

3) Yacht Club holiday scent- could someone staying at the YC in the next couple of weeks ask?

4) Train story (not Polar Express) read at the resort during the holidays- As soon as someone has a holiday activities schedule, could you post it or get it to me.

Thanks!

Here is a picture of the 2014 bounce back offer in the Be Our Guest booklet in our packet when we were at the WL last week. You have to look for it in the folder with all the other information.

Thanks so much for posting this. I'm going to add the info to the FAQ on the first page.

One of my deep dark Disney secrets is that I have never been to Beaches & Cream for lunch or ice cream! That is just wrong. And now that you have to make reservations, the chances of me prioritizing a meal there is even slimmer.

We did have breakfast there in 2009. Disney was testing a quick serve breakfast location there, and I am still perplexed that it was not a successful trial. :confused3

Hi all-

Its a few weeks since we returned from our WDW trip and first stay at YC. I am still in withdrawal. Serious withdrawal. Although, on a happier note--- I think we are officially YC converts -- we loved the resort!

Anyways, thanks again for all the helpful advice you shared --- thought I'd mention that I started a TR (link in siggy), and will definitely be posting pictures of the YC, SAB, etc! I just did a little bit about our room/view :thumbsup2

Now.....I just need to figure out how/when to make a 2014 a reality!

Thanks for the heads up on your report!

As another poster said, there are a few hallways so you could end up with a bit of a walk, but nothing like being on another floor. In July, we were in the second hallway away from the lounge. I didn't mind that at all.

Honestly, my requests when staying at the Beach Club are "Full balcony, please. Daybed if possible" Location is not a high priority for my family.

What time is your flight home? What time would you have to leave BC on departure day? For me, if it was a later in the day flight, I'd be inclined to stay at BC and enjoy the resort on the arrival and departure day, but, if I had an early flight home and ME was going to pick me up sometime before noon, I'd probably stay at the airport and save my money. I think the roof top pool would be cool to hang out by and for me, there's plenty to do and places to shop at MCO. Plus, I'm a people watcher. I could sit in the atrium with a good book and people watch forever :)

For all of you waking up to a blanket of snow, or who have been dealing with the pesky white stuff earlier in the week, I would like to share some warm, summery pictures:

.

Those pictures are much nicer that the view out our windows right now.

Well in fairness, the view out our windows is quite pretty with the snow right now, but I'm smart enough to know that snow=cold and SAB=fun and sun!

We are having silly weather here in the UK. It's 4.30pm and is 12 degrees c outside! It should freezing at this time of year.

Wow! It IS really quiet here! Dee, thanks for the pictures of SAB. I'm sitting here enjoying a really late breakfast of steel cut oats with brown sugar, almonds and craisins a la BC CL lounge. Plus we are watching Lilo and Stitch on Disney Channel. And since I haven't opened my blinds yet, I can't see the 8 inches of snow that covers my backyard! I'll just pretend I'm at BC!

I'm heading into work this afternoon at the Disney Store. I love being able to spread Pixie Dust to our guests!

My Princess Half Marathon trip is quickly approaching! 67 days!!!!!!! I. Can't. Wait!!!!! The first item on my agenda is hitting SAB for a Sunken Treasure and a Piña CoLava!

I always do the white wine tasting at Epcot in Germany. It's about $9, and you get 3 2-oz pours. I love it. You can also do wine by the glass in all countries and the "Wine Walk," which buys you 2, 2-oz pours in Germany, Italy and France. I think that runs around $20.

As for the YC holiday scent, I didn't ask, but to me, it smelled like the normal YC/BC scent (rain-kissed, aloe/clovery deliciousness), mixed in with a bit O'pine. It was lovely. At BC, it may have just been the carousel, but there was an overwhelming maple syrup scent in the air. How ya doing with that, Teena? ;-)
