2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival *HAS ENDED*

This is great news!!! We are only there for one day and I'm not sure I can accomplish my fairly large wish list in the time I have. An extra hour or two would significantly help with the power eating (and drinking....:rolleyes1).

party:

I have not noticed them open THAT early Maybe half an hour?

Brer Karen--thanks for the helpful info about the difference between AP vouchers and active APs. I appreciate it! Guess I'll wait to book events and deminars along with the crowd on August 14th (at least I won't be on California time, like a previous poster--ouch!)

Any word yet on whether deminars can be booked by phone on the 14th, or only online?

I've got to stop booking trips to DL that interfere with booking EPCOT F & W events. I'm on a 6AM flight to CA on 8/10 & returning from CA on 8/14. Thought I was doing good booking a midday flight out of Orange County but now I have to get up at 3:30AM PDT anyway to call WDW.

Tell me about it! I much prefer registering for the D23 events which starts at 10AM CA time not 4AM. But you gotta do what you gotta do!

Regarding the prebooking of the deminars ....

We didn't do any last year, but I remember in previous years that it online booking was available. Do we know if that is the case this year as well?

Online booking should be very similar to last year, however PftS might be call-only this year. They're not sure how they're going to do it with the three separate tiers.

Does anyone remember from last year if the white truffle lunch had assigned seating like the French Regional lunches?

There was not assigned seating at Tutto Italia's White Truffle Lunch last year.

UGH! It breaks my heart that I'll be 17 weeks preggers during F&W!!! I guess for me it will be a Food & Food event!;)

But the 2nd trimester is when typically when you feel the best!! Enjoy yourself, you'll be eating for two!! you can drink vicariously though your DH :rotfl:

We were skipping this year, but looks like we are going after all! Southwest had a great sale today. Don't have a room for all the nights yet but working the DVC wait list. This will be our first trip with our daughter being over 21!

We are taking our son down for just 21st birthday! He turns 21 two days before our trip.

I am thinking I will book a few seminars and the 3D dessert event. Can they be booked online and if so where? Is there a special site for F&W or somewhere on the regular restaurant site? We have been to F&W twice before but have just done the booths and no events. Thanks for any advice on booking!

Are the culinary demos every day (as the Disney Food Blog says) or only Sat/Sun (as the TIW email says)? I hope the food blog is right!

The Festival Guide in the TiW email is wrong about the Culinary Demos.

They will be every day of the festival, with Pam Smith hosting (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays) and John Ekin substitute-hosting (Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

I assume we should still get up at 5 am to try and book a special wine dinner by phone? The Flying Fish Signature dinner is during our stay, it will be our 3rd time trying to book it. The first two times we had no luck.

I don't think there are any other events we will try for, maybe a couple of demos. Gave DD the option of PFTS or a couple of nice dinners. She loves CA Grill and doesn't really like wine, so she chose the latter.

We have rooms for all 6 nights now, using DVC points and only moving 2 times! Trying to get that down to one move.

I just discovered waffes & Lefse in Norway and got to thinking...

We're all set for lunch & dinner at the booths, but what about breakfast?

I realize the World Showcase doesn't open until 11, but during Food & Wine, 11 is breakfast time for us. :rotfl2:

Seriously, I have to have something breakfasty before hitting the booths, no matter what time it is!!

Suggestions??
You can always do quiche from the Patisserie in France...the have a wonderful Quiche Lorraine or a veggie quiche.
