2012 Epcot Food and Wine Festival *HAS ENDED*

My wife and I will be attending our first F&W festival! We WILL concentrate on it during weekdays and visit the other parks on the weekends.
I wish the Food Network would be involved instead of HGTV. I would gladly see any of their stars.

So how many days do you typically dedicate towards the F&W Festival? Can you do everything in 1 day or would you advise going 2 or more days?

DH & I had limited time over a long weekend, but filled our Festival Passport, getting a stamp and a food/drink item from every booth. :upsidedow We would love to have an entire week to graze!! ;)

We spent the Fri evening of our arrival, 3/4 of Saturday, and 3/4 of Sunday, at the very end of last year's F&WF. Sat. night was crazy crowded with a lot of drunk people. So if your trip covers a weekend, plan for longer lines, and know that you might not can get to everything in one day, simply for time limitations.

I saw the Blog post this morning. What a waste of cyberspace. We want real F & W info not fluff filler! I don't watch HGTV, I have no idea who any of those people are and I have no intention of wasting my eating/drinking time listening to any of them tell me how to decorate a table or fold napkins.

I watch HGTV on a regular basis and I don't know who they are!

I agree. It's supposed to be the TRAVEL channel, not the ghost channel. Seems every time I look to see what is on travel, it's haunted something or other. Where are the actual shows about travel?

My DH watches those ghost hunter shows and I hate them.

Not to go too far off topic, but the same thing has happened to channels like the History and Discovery channels. How many shows about people's junk can we watch?

Apparently my father would watch those junk shows 24/7 if he could along with the one about the junk cars & the ones for the car auctions where some well off idiot will spend 100's of thousands of $ on some old piece of junk that someone decides is rare but needs fixing up. I'm tempted lately to cancel our FIOS TV so I don't have to be subjected to it anymore.

Right now there are so many Food related reality shows on(not all on Food Network, I know)-Chopped, Cupcake Wars, Food Network Star, Master Chef, etc. etc. I'd rather see some contestants from any of those shows at the F&W festival than someone from HGTV. And I watch HGTV. But the connection between Vern Yip and the F&W just escapes me.

We saw Casey Thompson from Top Chef (Season 3) and Elizabeth Faulkner and Robert Irvine from The Next Iron Chef at last year's Party for the Senses, so there are food celebrities present. We also went to a demonstration by Jamie Deen last year as well.

I have my eye on the Victoria and Albert's dinner. Has anyone been that can tell me about it?

We ate at V & A (I have food porn pictures to post, but DIS wont let me yet) last weekend and we loved it so much.

The V&A Signature Dinner is spectacular! Last year, the menu was entirely focused around white Alba truffles - an extremely expensive ingredient. I haven't heard any word yet about the theme for this year, but it does change from time to time.

It is hard to get because it's only one seating in the restaurant, so you should plan to be calling first thing when booking opens. You can also check with the restaurant in advance to see if they know what the theme will be or have any other information.

Thank you for the info and tips :) I will be calling the moment that I am allowed to. Do they usually release the theme before reservations open up?

Now I am hungry :)

Not sure if this is what you're asking but the theme of this year's festival is "Taste Your Way Around the World".

When they had a F&W in CA, I was out there every weekend and sometimes the weekdays, we can't be away from our pets long enough to do the WDW Festival justice. If I had the points and airline miles, I'd just book the whole festival and then cancel the reservations as applicable once the schedule was released! :lmao:

Well my personal max has been 2 weeks but I know some people I've spoken with over the years have stayed for the entire festival. Maybe when I retire I'll plan to stay for the whole thing. This is when owning DVC comes in handy. Some stay at Fort Wilderness Campground in their own RV's or Trailers.

Hey Karrit2000, I just noticed your ticker for the Destination-D, we'll be there too! Have you been to any before?

DH and I will be there during the Food & Wine Festival the end of October.

We've never attended this before so it's all new to us.

What is the price range for the food at the food booths?

Thanks!

crazy4wdw - thanks for the info.

Will they be publishing a map for the 2012 Food and Wine festival online?

They have for the last several years so I would think so. The info last year was released around July 26th so we should be getting close for an announcement for this year's festival. When the details are released, there will be numerous posts on this thread regarding the menus, special events, etc.

I didn't attend the first one at DL because the offerings seemed too much like seminars I'd attended at Disneyana Conventions & WDAC Conventions in the past. I attended the WDW one last year but was a bit disappointed in it overall. Once again a lot of the material was stuff I'd seen & heard before. But I got to visit with friends so overall I had a good time during my trip despite being disappointed in the event itself. When they finally listed the info for the seminars for this one there were quite a few that seemed of interest to me so I decided about a month ago to attend. I only have one extra full day for the parks so I'll be trying to cram as much into it as I can especially to see Cars Land.
