2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

So...three days after our amazing BC mini-vacation, we booked another stay! It's another short one though...but we find that splitting three nights one month, three nights another, helps us to fight off the withdrawal better. :lmao: Please add us to the guest list! We'll be checking in on September 9th (DH's birthday!) and staying three nights at BC CL! If we couldn't tear ourselves away from the resort this past weekend, I'm fairly certain the CL will only glue us to the BC even more. We are SUCH BC converts now! I told DH I feel like we're cheating on our 'home' resort, AKL!

Just commented on your dining review!!!

Well guys, we've managed to convert ANOTHER one!!!

With Epcot outside our door, I wonder when he thinks he will have time to watch a movie! Too many other things to explore! Plus, I think it would just put me to sleep after a long day at the park.

I feel the same way. We were in Hawaii a few months ago and I have no idea if the TV even worked -- we never once turned it on. But one trip to WDW, my DD got sick, and we did use the TV then... so maybe it's not such a bad idea after all. ;)

I don't think we turned on the TV except to see Stacey! :lmao: I watched GMA in the Club Lounge and DS watched a movie the day he had sun stroke but otherwise it was off. I didn't see any cables there to hook up anything.

Thanks for the info. I wouldn't expect there to be cables, although it would be nice to get to pack lighter...

Sounds like a great plan for today!! I always find the hotels feel chilly too when it is so warm out! Now I pack a pair of PJ pants to sleep in, just in case.

MMMears- the love bugs will blow on out within the next week to 10 days or so. I have only ever seen them in May, never in June. (And I think they reappear in the fall  but again, never when we have been there)

Shameless plug for us to say 3 weeks from now we will be landing!! :cool1:

I do the same thing -- I find the hotels and the restaurants freezing. Thanks for the info on the love bugs -- I sure hope they go away (I am NOT a fan of insects, and I know there are lots of them in FL). for only 3 more weeks!!!

If there is anyone at the BC now and would like some water or noodles please reply. I have 10 +/- bottles of zephyr hills water and 3 noodles that need a home.

I can meet in the lobby at 1ish or leave w/ bell services, just let me know :)

We are getting closer to our trip and I am trying to make sure I have every thing taken care of as far as ADR that I may have missed. We are going to book Cape May for a main afternoon meal one day. Any suggestions as to a good time? We will be in WDW for over two weeks so we are not going to be comando touring, we can relax and enjoy things as they come. However, we would like to avoid heavy crowds. Any suggestions for a time that might happen at Cape May? It will be our first time eating there.

Angel16

Cape May only offers its buffet for breakfast and for dinner -- no lunch.

So you'll either need to go with a late breakfast seating (11 am or so) or an early dinner (5 pm would probably be the earliest).

If you can leave the noodles at bell services, we will gladly take them. We will be arriving tomorrow early evening. We are staying at the villas, so just let me know which bell service to go to. Thank you sooo much!!!!!!

All this talk of slushies is making me excited for October!!!

And, in the tradition of Dee and Feckless' tickers, I realized it looks rather like Stitch is playing a game of croquet in mine, with an apple on his head! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

When we stayed at BC a few years back we tipped Mousekeeping $2 each day, but i have just read on another thread that Mousekeeping is not a tipping position, and they could in fact lose their jobs if caught taking the money:confused3 Is this true, what should i do?? Don't want to get anyone into trouble. On a completely different topic i've just looked at the weather for next week when we arrive, and it says "rain for 4-6hours" for 6 days. I really do hope they've got it wrong, I'm english and I'm fed up of rain, i want to enjoy SAB.

On the tipping, it has been said here repeatedly that mousekeeping is still a "tippable" position. Don't know where that other information is coming from. Dee, isn't that your understanding?

As far as the weather, don't fret. Long term forcasting here in the colonies leaves a lot to be desired. No sense really getting nervous about it until the morning forecast is read.

Have a great trip.

You've got them! I'll send you a PM. Enjoy :)

We are staying club level and would like to know what pool accessories for better word might be available? Are their noodles, beach balls, or diving things available? We normally make a Target stop for these items but just wondered if maybe we don't need to this time? It's our 1st stay club level :goodvibes

As others have said, I don't think pool toys/accessories are available from the club level desks. You can purchase noodles at the Poolside Giftshop or at the Beach Club Marketplace.

Usually there are green pails and shovels left behind at SAB- the ones that the Hurricane Hanna's kids meal come in.

Now for my question. My husband wants to bring his Apple TV adapter to hook the IPAD up to the TV so we can watch movies. Do you know if the Yacht Club rooms have HDMI cables?

Thanks.

Here's a picture of the TV in our BC CL room (2010). You can see that there are some input things on the side and cables coming out, but I suspect the cables have something to do with the operation of the tv.

I may have a picture with a closeup of these input jacks if you want me to go up into the attic to check.

I believe you are correct- I think Mousekeeping is a non-tipping position. I think the mousekeepers are permitted to take the money, but they are supposed to pool it together.

I'm not sure if they are fired if they take tips- I certainly don't think so- I have always left money and it has always been taken. Even believing that mousekeeping is non-tipped, I still can't bring myself not to leave a few dollars every day.

What happens to the money after it leaves the room? I have no idea!

During our stay in Atlantis, there was a $5 per person per day housekeeping charge, so we were paying $15 each day (the kids must have been half-price). I was able to restrain myself from leaving extra money there!

I did a search on Mousekeeping Tips on the Resort boards and got a few threads as hits. Here is one:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2918002&highlight=mousekeeping+tips

I looked at another thread and someone who worked as a Mousekeeper at AsMu talked a little about her experience and how some people tipped and some didn't- it sounded like she was able to keep the tips to supplement her pay.

That's fantastic!

I'll add you to the list. :yay:

Soooo something was bound to happen lol. Spent the morning in the ER with ydd. A mild concussion and the largest goose egg I have EVER seen later... Haha oh well she's ok and that's all that matters :) should be some interesting photos with a humongeos bruise hehe.. So her. Love my little animal haha. Cheers to two more days!!

OK, so now that I have my in-laws plans in hand, I want to desperately get back to the BC, even if it's only for a few days! They're not planning on coming down until Tuesday July 31, so my wife and I have from July 27-31 to ourselves before we move to a 2BR villa across the lake at BWV. I would absolutely love to spend the first half of the week at BCV, so if anybody is loooking to get rid of their studio reservation for July 27-31, please let me know!

Can't wait to get down there!

This might be totally random but I was wondering if anyone knows if there are kids services offered at the spa at YC/BC?

We are staying at YC for the second half of our trip and I was wondering if they had any special kids options available. We're planning a late EMH evening at MK our last night and I would love to treat DD to something fun that's not BBB.

Thanks!

Are you one of those people who has a DVD player that blinks 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 12:00 ?

Wow! I would totally charge my children double or triple that, then again they are able to fix the DVD player for me so we might have to meet in the middle of the prices.

Thanks. The apple TV device is small and he is already going to take his IPAD, so we will let you know in 18 days if there is a HDMI input/output thingy!:yay:

OMG you make our little mishap with DS having a throat infection the day we left seem minor! Poor sweetie! Glad she is ok and yay to 2 more days!

I was hoping I'd get the answer from you (and save some luggage space) but I guess not. Looks like we'll be at WDW around the same time. I told DH he wasn't the only one who is bringing an iPad, laptop, and wanting to bring an Apple TV and he said, "SEE!":rotfl:

Hi from the Yacht Club! Plane landed @ 10:20 & we were checking in by 11:20. Room wasn't ready, but we didn't care coz we were headed out to MK anyway. MK seemed crowded, but wait times wren't too bad. Got a text around 2 that room was ready. We are 5th floor, almost as ar from the lounge as we can get, but that doesn't bother us. Heard some music from the pool but only if the TV is off. With my DH that never happens anyway. Sunny & warm this afternoon but poured by 6. rained t about 9. Had a delish dinner @ Yachtsman's. Sam was a wonderful waiter, very friendly! Epcot for Flower & Garden tomarrow .

I know that there was no input for my HDMI cable at AKL. I was disappointed because I wanted to hook up my Razr and watch Tangled. :)
