2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Hey Everyone! We are at the BC right now! Just a very quick trip but loving every minute. We had some major pixie dust :goodvibes and are staying in a spectacular Club Level room with a view of the gardens, back entrance and partial lagoon. Does anyone have any questions??

Linda

So happy for you!!!

My only question. Does your room have a daybed? I would love to crash!

Do a lot of you eat most meals at Epcot? I am finding that most of the restaurants that I want to try are there. Our plans are to eat lunches in whatever park we are in, but since we want to come back to the resort in the afternoon for nap/swim time, it is tempting to plan more dinners there. It seems so easy just to walk over there, and then go to the other parks. Just curious...

Epcot is our favorite park, especially the food :)

We like to do Signatures for Dinner but love Epcot for lunches! We'll hit the parks early in the morning then head to Epcot for lunch. Simple to do either by way of monorail from MK or by ferry from HS.

I may be partial because Italian is our favorite style food but both Via Napoli and Tutto Italia are our favorites! We sometimes hit them twice in the same trip, I know...that's when gluttony set in :)

:welcome: to you both!

I'll add you both to the list tomorrow morning.

:cool1:

Great Thanks!

Welcome to our happy family!!!

You will just LOVE BC. The pool (referred to as SAB on this thread) is like an attraction in itself! We use it each midday after an early morning in the park. Then after we clean up, we have an easy stroll over to EPCOT for a nice dinner and shopping. The best perk of BC is it's proximity to EPCOT and DHS.

Each evening there are movies on the beach and I think Smores??? Be sure and enjoy a burger at Beaches & Cream (or since it's vacation, skip the "regular" meal and just have dessert ;) ). And schedule an evening for the Cap May clam bake. It's great!! After dinner you can head over to Boardwalk for a little entertainment.

Make sure that you meet Teena (she works on Sunday's and Monday's greeting guests in the lobby););)

OH there are movies on the beach here (I thought only FT Wilderness did Movies) is there a way to get a schedule? thanks Michelle

We just booked out trip to YC for this October! Kids have no idea and won't tell them till that morning we wake them up.

Any suggestions on which room to ask for? We have a Water or Pool view.

We are also staying at YC in October. We are there the week of Halloween.

The only advice I can offer on "which room to ask for", other than the fact that you don't want to ask for a specific room #, is that it's all a matter of personal preference. Do you want to be closer to an elevator or further away? Higher floor or low floor? Close to the boat dock? Obviously with YC, you can't be "close to Epcot" since if that was the most important thing, then you would have booked BC instead since it's the closer of the two.

Pick whichever is the most important thing to you and make that your request. Personally, we never really make any requests. We booked garden view and anything else, isn't really all that important to us.

Just look at the map of SAB on the first page ... see the slide exit. I'll try to get an exact location when I talk to recreation next but I would assume if it's like in the past, only that small section around the slide exit should be closed. That leaves a whole lot of pool!!! And see the area all the way at the other side - the kiddie pool area. That will be fine.

When I first saw that the slide was going to be closed when we are there, I was panicked!! After reading some of the posts, specifically TeenaS', I feel a little better. I am anxious to see what Teena finds out from recreation. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!!!

Michelle,

On the first page of this thread there is a section that Dee updates with the movie schedule for the month (when she gets ahold of one from our fellow BC/YC visitors).

She is awesome at updating!!!

It might be kind of fun getting the chance to head over to BWI and use their pool/slide!!! a vacation away from your vacation. it may even make SAB less crowded for a relaxing swim.

Good thing about being a disboard member is you get the heads up on this. Imagine showing up at the front desk and finding out

this gives you a chance to prepare the kids before arrival :thumbsup2

:sad1::sad1::sad1: I just logged on this morning and read about the work that'll be going on to SAB during our entire stay. I have to say I'm so, so bummed :sad2:. With just about a month to go I thought for sure we were in the clear. Does anyone know if the slide being closed includes that little back "kiddie" slide (not sure what the technical name is for that)? DD loved going on that over and over so I'm wondering if that's part of it too.

Ok, so I have a question. I keep getting the "I dunno" from different CM's when I call.

When we booked our reservation we were told that the all white (i.e. bedding, headboard, walls, etc) at YC were the Concierge Level rooms. Now it looks like they are the standard rooms. AH!! :headache:

Can anyone help clarify this? We just want to know what to expect.

Thanks!

Yep, there is free WIFI in the rooms and lobbys now. You are suppose to be able to access it by the pools too but I can't tell you for sure since I've never walked out there and seen anybody on their computer.

many thanks for the info.. do you know when this happened? as i said before wheni was there in August 2011.. this was not the case.

Hello!
I am so happy to have found this thread. :cool1:We will be staying at BCV for the first time this summer (Aug 5-11) and are so excited! :banana:I love all the info and have written down some great tips! Keep them coming! Thanks for all the hard work put into the updates.:thumbsup2

The rooms are all identical except for some of the suites. The only difference is the location. The CL rooms are on the fifth floor.

Hello YC/BC fans! I just wanted to reiterate Dee's comments from earlier this morning. I can absolutely understand disappointment regarding the jib slide closure next month, and everyone should feel free to share those feelings.

For those who may have joined the conversation recently, I also wanted to offer some encouragement, share that we had personal experience with the slide closure last year (February 2011) and emphasize how much we still enjoyed the pool and our stay. And during our most recent BC stay (August 2011) we spent nearly the entire day at SAB. The jib slide was open that day and as much as our boys love it, they only went down it three times and spent the rest of the day in other areas of the pool. There is just so much pool to enjoy! During our YC stay next month, I plan to spend the afternoon at SAB with our youngest son. Based on our experience at SAB (with and without slide closures), I really don't feel the jib slide closure will impact us much.

I've taken many SAB photos over a number of trips last year (mostly in August) and like Teena said, it might help to review the photos to see how much of SAB is available to enjoy!

Thanks for all the info Teena! I should have posted here when I first heard the rumor the other day before going into my tailspin! I didn't want to start something until I knew if it was true. But it certainly would have saved me a sleepless night!

I know you might not know the answer to this without talking to recreation, but when you mention just the small section at the bottom of the slide, do you mean that whole pool? I'm curious about the Sinking Sands, Bubblin Bay & Whirling Waters. I assume that whole pool will be closed? I think I'm more disappointed to miss out on those cool features than the actual slide.

When you have the opportunity, any additional information you can offer would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

I'll do my best to track down a recreation manager on Sunday or Monday to find out.

Don't know what your preference is but this is from a CL room in Sept 2011:
