2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Do a lot of you eat most meals at Epcot? I am finding that most of the restaurants that I want to try are there. Our plans are to eat lunches in whatever park we are in, but since we want to come back to the resort in the afternoon for nap/swim time, it is tempting to plan more dinners there. It seems so easy just to walk over there, and then go to the other parks. Just curious...

Another vote for dinner at Epcot. Exactly as you have planned - out at the parks during the morning / early afternoon, back to Y&BC for afternoon nap, swim, etc. and then dinner at YC/BC or one of the Epcot restaurants. We love the dining options in the BC area and yes, this includes Epcot as the walk is so short. Love that walk!

Schedule Update: They told me my days and hours will change probably in mid-April. My new days will be Saturday and Sunday and I'll be working ten hour days. I think the hours will be 8 AM to 6:30 PM. As soon as I know the exact date my days/hours change, I'll post it here.

That's seems like a long day on your feet!!! I hope you get a few rest periods (and not just lunch).

Just cleared my PM box (a little). Got a message someone tried to send me a message but it was full. Big surprise!

Sorry about that!

Can anyone tell me about the Albatross Treasure Cruise? We will be there in August and were hoping to have our sons do it

Marlton Mom Disney photography trip update:

I know some of you have been waiting for pictures from my One More Disney Day Trip. I have already posted the Beach Club resort specific merchandise pictures and pix of my dinner at the Captain's Grille on the previous incarnation of this thread. If you fish around in my Flickr thread you can see these pictures. The link to my Flickr picture account is in my signature.

Some of the other pictures from my trip are popping up piecemeal on my flicker account. I have two types of pictures that I am working on. About half are single shots and the other half require me to learn a new post processing technique called HDR. Even the single shots require post processing with photography specific software so the upshot is that all this will take time to do and post to Flickr.

I thought that in the mean time I'd post a link to the Dis Boards Photography thread where I posted some of my shots of the Tower of Terror. On this particular thread the intent is to share how you processed the pictures and why you did it that way. I thought that some of you would like to see these pictures to get you that much closer to a little Disney today.

Here is the link to that post:

Yes it's true! :sad1: The SAB slide & "part" of the pool will be closed from 4/9 - 4/23. I heard it on facebook last night & confirmed it this morning with BC IPO! Nobody can give me any more information about what "part" of the pool will be closed. Guests will be allowed to use the Luna Park pool at BW.

Sorry I didn't post sooner - I had a school special ed meeting this morning & a doctor's appointment this afternoon & the DIS wouldn't let me log in with my phone - no idea why?? :confused3

It will only be the first part of the pool, where the slide comes out into the pool. The other two-thirds of the pool will be open. They run continuous golf carts back and forth between the Luna slide. The kids love that.

When the Clown slide is down, they golf cart people from there over to our slide ... only fair.

Thanks for the info DisMomAmy! Hope your family will enjoy a great stay @ BC, even without the slide. Any idea how much longer the construction will be going on, Teena?

Hey everyone! I am staying at the BC for the first time this August with my mom (jking6 on the DISBoards), and my cousin. Our dates are 8/8-8/12 at the BC followed by 8/12-8/19 at Pop or a moderate resort. During that time my cousin and I will be checking in for the College Program! I would love to meet other DISers while we are there! Any advice on what not to miss while staying at the BC would be great.

And if the noodle family happen to return I would love to have them from 8/8-8/12!:goodvibes

Noted! I'll try to get it right this time  Those are loooong hours Teena! Wow.

:lmao:

I'm considering drinking my way through WS! In a proper and sensible manner of course. ;)

I'm considering a Slushie around the world :woohoo: Lets see- Grey Goose and Grand Marnier Slushies at France, there's that slushy cart going into WS toward Canada, Mexico of course- so many flavors of margaritas
Pina Colavas at Hurricane Hanna- does that count as around the world

HELP!!!

Ok... my TA just sent me an email and let me know that I have a PIN that will do one of 2 things:

lower my bill $400 and move me from a stadard to pool view

OR

lower my bill $100 and move me to standard view CLUB LEVEL!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I don't know what to do and need some advice.

I've never had either! pros and cons please TIA

I know some peoplE will be upset at the slide closure (my DD has a fear of clowns AND bugs as I've mentioned! LOL) but Ike sure she would get over it to use the slide there, on the off chance that the repairs continue into our stay. I know they'd love the golf cart rides! SAB is so phenomenal that like Teena said, even 2/3 of it is better than any other resort pool you're likely to come across. Hope people don't fret too much. :)

All this talk of Cape May clam bake is making me wish I booked it for dinner not breakfast!!! LOL

A

I have yet to stay at BC but from what I've read, I'd take the CL over the pool view any day of the week!!! Who cares about the view if you have access to IPO and the lounge??? That's my vote.

That would be a no contest for me. Standard View Club Level!!!!

You had me at "slushy cart". :lmao:

Teena those are some long days to be on your feet! :( As happy as I will be to get more of a chance to meet you, I hope it won't be too hard on you.

I just saw a thread asking GF or YC (and it wasn't you):

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2893610

I know ! I saw that too and stopped to think for a minute!! apparently someone else is having the same dilemma..... I think we're pretty much decided that we're going to try the Yacht Club. We both agree with all of you that the proximity to Epcot and HS will be a really nice change. We've tried the monorail, so I think it will be great to try something new.

I was between the YC and BC, but I really loved having the balcony at the GF, so I think it's going to be the YC..... I'm having SO much fun reading everyone's thoughts and plans and jokes..... it's been such a terrific help in deciding. And all of you are such great fun on this thread!!! It's the "happening thread on the Dis" !! :goodvibes

I'm so sad & don't know what to do... we are only there for 3 nights (4/19-4/22) before moving offsite but we had planned for two of those days to be resort days with no parks. I know our boys would love the slide & not knowing what part of the pool will be closed has me worried too. I looked up rates to switch resorts but the AP discount I used to book isn't coming up with as much of a discount as I got at BC. We want CL, we want a good pool & we want convenient transportation but every decent alternative is coming up too expensive... I just don't know what to do! I was hoping BC IPO could help me but they just keep saying to call the regular 800#.

I don't know if I should just stay with BC & hope for the best (but DH is NOT happy about this) or try to find another resort... which won't be as good as our dream resort.

Oh, I'm sad too! We're there March 16/17 and then again March 22/23 (with a cruise on the Disney Dream in between!). DH is not going to be happy about this at all. One of the reasons we chose to go on the cruise and do WDW again this year was that the boys wanted to get back to SAB. He was originally pushing for the Swan/Dolphin because of the savings but I convinced him otherwise, with a heavy emphasis on "remember how much the boys loved the pool?" I'll have to be quick to point out all the features they loved besides the slide!

Teena, thank you for sharing the additional info, it does make me feel better and will help me with DH and the boys. And yes, the chance to try yet another WDW pool will be good if they do feel they want more. One question though...accessibility is an issue for us because one of our sons uses a wheelchair. Do you have any idea if the golf carts can take a w/c, or how we can get him over there?

Thanks! And I also want to say it's really nice to know that we can vent a little disappointment on this thread of the DIS...there have been some nasty other threads recently. I feel like I've just blown off a little steam with some friends who have helped me work through it! I know we're very lucky to be staying at the YC to start, let alone our whole trip.

And Teena, those are very long days...

To be honest, I'm not sure about the wheelchair. That would be a question for our recreation managers. Please feel free to call the resort and ask to speak to one of them about the golf cart/wheelchair issue. I would insist on talking to one of them ... that's the only answer I would trust.

No contest!! Definitely the club level. The concierge staff at BC is wonderful! The snacks and drinks are nice to have around but our favorite was having someone there to help with anything!! If we had a problem with a charge at a restaurant they gave us no trouble, canceling or adding a ressie and even special requests, like milk for my little one!
