2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Ok I did it again. Changed my plans again today, called the Travel agent and asked her how much more a night to switch fron gardenview to waterview when she said only $45.00 a night I decided it would be worth the change. Hope I am not dissappointed!!!!

Oh, I'm sad too! We're there March 16/17 and then again March 22/23 (with a cruise on the Disney Dream in between!). DH is not going to be happy about this at all. One of the reasons we chose to go on the cruise and do WDW again this year was that the boys wanted to get back to SAB. He was originally pushing for the Swan/Dolphin because of the savings but I convinced him otherwise, with a heavy emphasis on "remember how much the boys loved the pool?" I'll have to be quick to point out all the features they loved besides the slide!

Teena, thank you for sharing the additional info, it does make me feel better and will help me with DH and the boys. And yes, the chance to try yet another WDW pool will be good if they do feel they want more. One question though...accessibility is an issue for us because one of our sons uses a wheelchair. Do you have any idea if the golf carts can take a w/c, or how we can get him over there?

Thanks! And I also want to say it's really nice to know that we can vent a little disappointment on this thread of the DIS...there have been some nasty other threads recently. I feel like I've just blown off a little steam with some friends who have helped me work through it! I know we're very lucky to be staying at the YC to start, let alone our whole trip.

And Teena, those are very long days...

So you'll be there next week? The slide isn't getting closed til April 9-23. Won't affect your trip! :goodvibes

HELP!!!

Ok... my TA just sent me an email and let me know that I have a PIN that will do one of 2 things:

lower my bill $400 and move me from a stadard to pool view

OR

lower my bill $100 and move me to standard view CLUB LEVEL!
:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

I don't know what to do and need some advice.

I've never had either! pros and cons please TIA

Sounds like a great TA keeping on top of your pins !

Marlton Mom Disney photography trip update:

I know some of you have been waiting for pictures from my One More Disney Day Trip. I have already posted the Beach Club resort specific merchandise pictures and pix of my dinner at the Captain's Grille on the previous incarnation of this thread. If you fish around in my Flickr thread you can see these pictures. The link to my Flickr picture account is in my signature.

Some of the other pictures from my trip are popping up piecemeal on my flicker account. I have two types of pictures that I am working on. About half are single shots and the other half require me to learn a new post processing technique called HDR. Even the single shots require post processing with photography specific software so the upshot is that all this will take time to do and post to Flickr.

I thought that in the mean time I'd post a link to the Dis Boards Photography thread where I posted some of my shots of the Tower of Terror. On this particular thread the intent is to share how you processed the pictures and why you did it that way. I thought that some of you would like to see these pictures to get you that much closer to a little Disney today.

Here is the link to that post:

Enjoy and happy peeping!

Love those pics MM. The explanations for why you shot them the way you did was very interesting, esp. since I know nothing about photograpy. Thanks so much for posting the link. Can't wait to see more!!!

Just booked to go back to BC! :woohoo: And, I booked a room for my mom too. She will be turning 65 while we are there and she has never been to WDW! It's my present to drag her to the World this year. Funny thing is that I was concerned about what DH would say about the cost of booking 2 BC rooms for 7 nights, so I tried to bring up the idea of staying at POR (in the new Royal rooms) and to my surprise, he's the one that said to go back to BC/YC. So, I don't feel guilty - it was *his* decision.

So, I'm officially back in this thread and excited to be going back to F&W.

edit to add:
Can I be added to the guest list?
Oct 6 - 13 BC
Thanks!

:welcome: back! I'll add you to the list next time I update.

I asked the other week for advice on room requests - unfortunately, I have just realised I sent my reply to the old thread, so I am repeating it here. So once again, many thanks.

I would indeed like to be added to the Be Our Guest list.
We shall be staying at BC 5/26 - 6/9

On a different theme, I am quite an early riser (6:00), so i was wondering if anyone could recommend an interesting walk at sunrise (around 6:30). Looking for something that that will show different sights/sounds of WDW to those we are more familiar with.

Sorry we lost you for a bit! I'm glad you found us :)

I'll put your dates on the list. :cool1:

Oh how I love the Yacht Club!:lovestruc

Just winding down after another fantastic day here at the Yacht Club. Went to HS this morning and had an amazing dinner at Teppan Edo tonight.

Now I'm relaxing in the room and just finished watching Wishes from our balcony - a definite perk of a Standard view room. :)

I hope all of your trips come quickly and that you have as wonderful a time as we are having.

We'll be there at the same time! We're doing a three-way split, and we'll be at BC from 5.30-6.4.

My gpa travels with us and is a really early riser. He's usually up at 4:30, heads to the gym, then walks the grounds at the resort until about 6:00 or so when we're all getting up for the day. It's been a couple trips since we've been at the BC, but I know he walked around the Boardwalk and around the Swolphin area a bit, too. I intend to get up earlier than the kids one of these trips and take my own little morning stroll, too! :goodvibes

Maybe you two will run into each other!

I think I missed a few :welcome: s :cool1::woohoo::cheer2:

dimndgal1 and saquin- if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list, please post your dates!

I appreciate the wonderful reception and helpful advice in this thread! It's been my dream to stay in a Disney resort and now we get to try two. I picked YC because I've been dying to be near the Boardwalk and MIL loves the New England shore... plus DD was desperate to get to SAB! I am looking forward to our stay and this thread excites me more.

Thank you to those who answered my questions about rooms and elevators. I tried to quote and lost the markers so this is my blanket gratitude! I'll probably be back post-surgery to ask more questions but for now I have a note asking to be near the main lobby elevator for convenience.

Finally, to natebenma, thanks for the welcome and please add us to the Be Our Guest List: June 24-30 at YC. I appreciate it and am looking forward to this summer!!!

You know Janet, there is no law that says you have to go home. The keys to the fantasy closet are tied to the bungi cord that's around the noodles..... oops.... never mind. I guess you better plan on coming home.

Do a lot of you eat most meals at Epcot? I am finding that most of the restaurants that I want to try are there. Our plans are to eat lunches in whatever park we are in, but since we want to come back to the resort in the afternoon for nap/swim time, it is tempting to plan more dinners there. It seems so easy just to walk over there, and then go to the other parks. Just curious...

When we stay at BC we eat most of our meals in Epcot. We love good food but with 3 kids we also like convenience. That's why BC is my DH's favorite resort. (I love BC too but I also love other places so I don't like to say that I have one favorite resort!) Last summer we stayed at BLT and we still ate a few dinners at Epcot but ate some at Monorail Resorts. We had a car last year so we even ate at DTD (which I probably wouldn't have done without a car - convenience!).

Can anyone tell me about the Albatross Treasure Cruise? We will be there in August and were hoping to have our sons do it

My 2 older children did this 2 years ago (August, 2010). My youngest wasn't old enough. My daughter is standing right next to me and I asked her if she liked that pirate boat ride. Her response was, "A lot!" We took the 2 kids to the dock and they put on life jackets. We paid for their cruise and off they went. My daughter had made a friend for life before they left the dock! Both kids truly enjoyed the experience and came back with pirate booty (it was cheap junk off of Oriental Trading Company website but they loved it). My oldest is now 8 and says he's too old to do it again this summer but I might sign up the younger 2 this August.

Lots of nice comments for me! Thank you friends! I have had a busy, busy week at work and I'm training for another half marathon in April. Plus I have to fight my kids for computer time. :lmao:
Anyway, I'm hoping to finish my 2011 trip report this weekend and then start a PTR for our August trip to BC. We're very spoiled and we're heading to Vero Beach in about 2 weeks for Spring Break, taking our 1st Disney cruise in June, and THEN heading to BC in August. And I'm going back to BC for the ToT race in late September!
We haven't decided about sit-down lunches in August but we have dinner ADRs for every night - Cape May Cafe, Bluezoo, Teppan Edo, Akhershus, Garden Grill, Chef Table at Flying Fish, and one more that I'm forgetting at the moment....

Thank you to all those who help with information on this board.
I will not be on the disboards much until after our trip. 1 more day of work, 1 day to pack. My family is so excited.:cool1:

I will give a mini review of the resort when we get back.

Thanks again!!!
