2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Dee - looks great:thumbsup2

Setting up my meals for this August!!!:thumbsup2 I will be there on my birthday and set up O'hana's for that night. Has anyone eaten there? I have only had breakfast. I am just wondering about folks opinions of the food.

Also I keep going back and forth on the dining plan....Could anyone try to tell me which is the better deal. My boys are 5 and 7.

In our family's experience, if you have children who are under 10, you can usually benefit from the DDP if you do a few buffets, since they tend to be pricey. If I were you, I would price out the meals at locations you plan to visit (using online menus) and then compare it to the DDP prices to see if it is beneficial for your family.

then, we're looking at doing AK/EP and HS/MK for the next two days. I might skip the AK morning with DD. I think she's just going to be too short for EE and Dinosaur is too scary... just don't feel like dragging her around AK with only the safari to satisfy her so we may do MK that morning while the rest go AK.

You could always visit Affection Section too, which is a little petting area. Also, the shows Finding Nemo and (especially) the Festival of the Lion King are nice shows for little ones.

Never to worry about food right?

I am a breakfast person while DBF is not, we actually only have one breakfast planned because I needs my Tonga Toast!

Since we're not comando by any means we're willing to take some time in the AM getting ready... and the only rope drop we're going to is MK and that means Main Street Bakery Breakfast :cheer2:

For the other days I know YC doesn't have a QS but BC does... how far is the BC QS from YC? Is it feasible to get a breakfast and take it back to your room?

Thanks for the new thread, hopefully I can read it all. You can add me for a stay checking in on August 8th-12th. first time at Beach Club. I have a Gardenview room booked and I am so excited. I am actually doing a split stay between BC and CSR. I will be staying until the 19th.
The first part of our trip will be a celebration with my DD and Neice who sadly:lmao: will be starting the Disney College Program and spending the next 5months in Disney!!! I think I will be making several return trips this fall, maybe Oct, Thanksgiving and I have the week of Christmas to New Years off.
I will make it at least 2 ot 0f 3. I just wish upstate NY was a little closer!!!

This is awesome, again! Every time I read this thread I get a little more excited for getting married and my honeymoon. I think reading all the great info on here is how I'll get through waiting so long to get there!

Good Evening All!
I just wanted to update the dates for our October trip (I noticed the ?? beside my name on the Be Our Guest list).
We will be at the Beach Club Villas from October 14-26.
Can't wait!!!

:welcome: to all of the new posters!!!

I'll get you added to the Be Our Guest list in the morning.

Looking forward to our concierge stay at the Beach Club in April. My kids are traveling on a bus for a marching band field trip to Disney and staying off site so my husband and I decided to treat ourselves to the BC Club level! We are looking forward to some relaxing together time!:thumbsup2

:banana::banana::banana:

Sweet! :thumbsup2 on relaxing together time.

Lucky you at the BC- I'm going to be languishing at one of the All Stars during my son's school trip in June.

Awesome thread. Thank you so much for this. We are going Aug 25th-Sept 2nd! First time at Beach Club!

Here's a thought... with the new coffee makers in the rooms I can see stopping in at the market place on your way back from a park (the day before the breakfast meal) (provided the Market place is still open!) and picking up a pastry for the next morning's breakfast. You can make coffee or tea or bourbon in your room and have a long leisurely breakfast with the construction guys on your balcony. (Hubba Hubba!) :crowded:

When I had dinner on Monday night with the "Mystery Guest" @ Captain's Grille I stopped at the Market Place and picked up some of those DELICIOUS CHOCOLATE CROISSANTS :yay: to take back to my cinder block cell at All Star Movies. I was ever so grateful to have something delectable to nibble on in my room the next morning while the unwashed masses descended upon the food court at ASMO in their primal breakfast fury. I thought perhaps I would exact my revenge for their late night noisy-ness by running through the food court and screaming "I have a CHOCOLATE CROISSANT from the Beach Club Market Place AND YOU DON'T" but common sense and my medication took over and I deferred.

These pastries were so delectable that they dared not show their age and tasted as fresh as the morning dew the next morning.

So take a tip from 'ol Marlton Mom, NEVER, EVER stay at ASMO and Pack a pastry back to your room the night before, for breakfast in bed with coffee and more!

Woohoo! I'm caught up now.....because the thread is NEW! :rotfl:

My dates changed slightly - it is now June 1-7. Hey, that's closer than before! :lmao: We will be at POR from May 25-June 1.

I realized the other day that we are getting close! I really have get busy doing all my "Beach Club" research and studying! It'll be here before I know it!

Tea drinker here! :wave2:

I'm looking at the pictures of the cuisinart pod coffeemakers. I see coffee pods but are there tea pods there? They look more like the size and shape of tea bags. Do they provide teabags and you just heat water in the cuisinart? Or are there actual tea pods provided?

Has anyone who's a tea drinker tried the new Cuisinarts and does the tea have any coffee taste left over from the machine? :crazy2:

YC DOES have QS breakfast. In the lobby off to the side over by the concierge desk there is a little out of the way alcove that has a name that escapes me right now (hey, it's early!). DW and I would get our quick breakfast every morning there when we needed one (otherwise it's Captain's Grille for us!). And if you are on the DDP, you can use it for this as well.

It is frustrating at times when I read all the misinformation in postings on other threads where they really do not know what great food selections are available at the BC/YC. But RobinHoodGirl, stick around these pages and you will be enlightened about all things beautiful when it comes to BC/YC.

Are you talking to me? Are YOU talking to ME?

For your information, I bathe at least once during my stay, although I have been advised by people in the know that I should BMOB (of shampoo, that is)

I can't believe I forgot to ask you this. Is there anything to the rumor about fridges at the All Stars? Actually I don't care about that. Coffee Makers? If they don't have inroom machines, I'll be bringing a small one and making my own.

That's good. We have an entrance exam scheduled on the first of every month!

I spy with my little eye, Twinings tea in these pics. I see Earl Grey, but I can't tell what the green one is. Sorry, can't help with the taste.

What kind of coffeemakers are in the resort rooms?

As of October 2011, the drip coffee makers in the BC and YC resort rooms were replaced.

The regular resort rooms and club level rooms now have the Cuisinart Double Pod Machines:

Thanks for the photos, Rorey and Cinderumbrella!

Please note that the suites reportedly have Keurig k-cup machines.

The coffee makers in the Beach Club Villa rooms are Mr. Coffee-type (drip) coffee makers. I think the 2 BR and 1 BR BCV kitchenettes have a 10 cup machine and the BCV studios have a 4 cup carafe.

Ale & Compass

Ale and Compass is located just off the Yacht Club Lobby.
In the morning, breakfast items are available like coffee and tea, pastries, an assortment of cereal and fruit.

I just pictured Dee chasing MM through a food court yelling something about "I want that croissant".

Thank you for this thread. I feel so welcome and happy here! I think this is the best thread on the Dis!

Now for my Disney news. As I mentioned before DH has decided we need to buy into DVC. Well after some debate and disagreements we decided in the end more points was more important than location (I wanted to buy into BCV or BWV) but we put an offer in and it was accepted on a resale. As soon as we close I am going to try and book a weekend getaway at BCV! Thanks everyone for your help on this one.

CONGRATS!!!

Hello BC/YC!
We are doing a split-stay this summer POR/YC and I am so excited! This will be DH, DD, and my first time at a Disney hotel and it will be a first visit to WDW for my in laws. DD wanted to be near SAB and I've always wanted to stay near the Boardwalk so it's a real treat!

We will be staying at YC for the first time in May 11th-14th) and we are so excited. We have been fortunate enough to experience SAB when we stayed at BCV a few years ago and we can't wait to play there again :) Thanks to Dee for this amazing thread :goodvibes

Tea drinker here! :wave2:

I think I missed a few :welcome: s :cool1::woohoo::cheer2:

dimndgal1 and saquin- if you would like to be added to the Be Our Guest list, please post your dates!

One more plea to everyone- please check the list. Lots of updates since I got back, so I want to be sure I didn't miss anyone!

Joining in. You can add us to the Be our Guest list, we'll be in a 1bdrm at BCV from October 1st to the 7th. Can't wait, this will be our DD's first trip. She'll be 18 months at the time.

I'll take tips and advice from anyone who's been at the BC with a toddler.

Also, I'm wondering if I can bring a little flotation seat for DD to use at SAB??

I'm also wondering if I should put in a request?? If so, where or what should I request.

Any advice is appreciated.

I'll add you to the list. :cool1:

Can't really help you with the toddler advice (stock up on the wine? j/k), or with the BCV request advice, so hopefully others can help here.

What I have been told by the lifeguards is that although outside flotation devices (like tubes) are not permitted for adults, young children are able to use inflatables that surround them, like the seat you are describing, as long as an adult is within arms length.

What a great idea! I've never traveled to WDW where I'm the only breakfast person (I can go without but my tummy usually isn't happy about it). I'll need to keep this in mind. Thanks :)

Ya learn something new every day!

I'm hoping with under 8 months to go before leaving I'll have a good idea of what the YC has to offer us. This was not even really in the running as a hotel for DBF and I but since I've been to WDW and it's his first time I wanted him involved (aka I showed him photos of the resorts and looked at his expression) and he felt at our price point this would be the most romantic resort for us. I've never stayed so I'm excited to stay and learn all the little tips and tricks

Are you talking to me? Are YOU talking to ME?

I'm from Joisey! Yeah!! I'm talkin to youse!

For your information, I bathe at least once during my stay, although I have been advised by people in the know that I should BMOB (of shampoo, that is)

Unless you like using the dish soap shampoo that is minimally supplied by the All Star resorts.... And Besides... I happen to know for a fact that your family runs you through the car wash once a week whether you need it or not.... ;)

I can't believe I forgot to ask you this. Is there anything to the rumor about fridges at the All Stars? Actually I don't care about that. Coffee Makers? If they don't have inroom machines, I'll be bringing a small one and making my own.

The fridges should be installed by the end of April according to info floating around on the boards. Keep in mind they are beverage coolers and not fridges so think the size of just a mini fridge door.

There was NO Coffee maker in the room but there was an attractive ice bucket and a pair of plastic cups (wrapped for your enjoyment!). It makes you really appreciate staying at the BC/YC/BCV after a stay in a third world resort like All Stars.

There was a luggage stand, a table and two chairs and one bedside table between the 2 full size beds. The ironing board and Iron at All Stars was especially useful as I tend to do all my ironing for the year when I'm paying $6.47 a minute to be at Disney. There was a collection of wooden hangers in the room and I donated my wire cheapies from the dry cleaner to add to the collection.

Oh.... and how could I forget mentioning the most important room element ever in Disney resort history..... THERE WAS A PHONE BOOK IN THE ROOM!!!

~Marlton Mom
