2012 Beach and Yacht FAQ ~ March, April and May ~Do Not Post Here-Old Thread

Thanks so much for the info. If we did do CL, could the boys (10) go in on their own to grab a drink/snack? Trying to give them a little independence and thinking if we felt comfortable letting them do that it would be a plus.
And is there always bottles of water/drinks? Just thinking of the convenience of being able to grab bottles on our way to the parks. I'm slowly getting "sold" on CL! Now I just have to convince DH!

I could be wrong, but I thought the age for going into the lounge alone was 12.

Ten year old boys I would allow to go in alone to get drinks, but not snacks.

Dee - Of course Flat Dee makes the rest of us look even heavier!!!!!
One day "real Dee" is going to show up. I can't wait!

Off topic - I finally made our family watch the first Harry Potter movie since we're venturing over to the dark side for a few days before Disney. One of my older sons is a huge HP fan - now I can see why. Hoping to watch most of them (if not all) before we leave. Now at least we won't seem like idiots in the HP section of Universal!!!!

I work Sunday and Monday in the BC lobby (9:30 AM to 5:45 PM). If I'm not in the lobby, I'm on a break. Most of the people on the desk are new and probably don't even know who I am. If anybody is looking for me and wants ACCURATE information, ask to speak to one of the managers in the lobby or at the front desk.

Don't know who you are :faint: That's crazy talk! Well, whether or not the desk folks know who you are, we are looking forward to meeting you the first weekend in June!

We found not having bottles of water to be a bit inconvenient, especially at night when we were tired and thirsty and there was only soda available. We did ask for the big bottles for our room, and that helped.

Whether or not it was allowed (I had no idea there were restrictions! Oops!) my two often went into the lounge, both together and on their own. Nobody said anything to them. My kids look a lot older than they are, which may be why it wasn't questioned.

We have not regretted our decision to stay CL. Since we've been back, DH and I have joked, "I'll just pop into the Lounge and get that" for everything. Wouldn't it be nice to have one at home??? :)

Well, I did it!!! Just upgraded! :cool1: DH and I talked about it and the more we talked the more we realized we would love it! Especially that we want this to be a more relaxed trip with more hotel time. Thank you for all of your help! And I am enjoying your trip report too! :thumbsup2

You will really enjoy the lounge, especially if you are taking it easy this trip!!

Have a great time with the rest of the planning!

Well I called BC CL IPO (although I didn't speak to someone directly from BC) and explained my questions (wanting to store frozen hamburger in their freezer) and the answer was that they didn't have any place I could store a bag hamburger. The only freezer space was in the BC kitchen and they couldn't take anything from a guest. Bummer! I really wasn't expecting it would be possible but it never hurts to ask. Oh well, less to pack I suppose. Now back to planning.

Here's another questions - Hoop-Dee-Doo or Cirque Du Soleil? We are a family of three, myself, DH and DS14. Have not been to either and thought it would be fun to do something different for a change. I can't decide. Can anyone help with this??????? :)

Have a magical day!!!!!!!!!!!

This seems weird since I know they have a place to store stuff delivered from Garden Grocer in the Bell area.

If I sent my 3 boys in the lounge unattended they would be stuffing their pockets like squirrels and stealth nibbling all day. I'm always chasing them around the house with fruit and healthy snacks so they would breeze right by those selections and head for the cookies and chips. My two oldest are interested in the culinary arts but you would never know it from what they try to get away with eating when I'm not around! My husband is an enabler so I am out numbered 4 to 1....

Do you happen to know which cupcakes they normally have? Are they good? Thanks!

Edit: I followed the thread back and saw the pictures of the three types. Any likes or dislikes between them? Thanks!

The vanilla cupcake: it was fine. Not one of my very favorites, but I have nothing bad to say about it.

The Red Velvet cupcake: it was my first time eating Red Velvet and I didn't care for it. Someone who already likes Red Velvet would be a better judge.

The German Chocolate cupcake: well... My rule at Disney is: one cupcake a day, but no repeating a type of cupcake I have eaten before. One evening I hadn't had a cupcake, and I was back at the Beach Club, and I had already tried the other two types, so it was German Chocolate or nothing - even though I knew I wouldn't like the frosting. So I chopped off the frosting and just ate the cake part. The cake part was fine.

I knew my nieces would question me the next day, and if I broke my own rule, they would have given me a hard time.

After two trips, my favorites so far are the Oreo Cupcake at the Boardwalk Bakery, and the Chocolate Peanut Butter Cupcake at the Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom. But I've only tried one at Starring Rolls (Disney Hollywood Studios) so far, so I have a long way to go.

Can you blame them ;)

Have only done Hoop-Dee-Doo, but it was when our oldest was only 4. She enjoyed it then.

However, with the age of your son I'm not sure if he would like it.

My DD14 would love to see Cirque.

:rotfl2: I guess I would have to see what happens! They typically will go for better options if hungry. But you never know. I might have to not pack any shorts with pockets!

Wooohoooo just booked our flights for our September trip  : banana:
Also booked one night at AoA Little Mermaid room, we decided to come a day early since most of the flights didn't arrive till later in the day. Bonus is that now we have a non-stop flight !!!

Dee could you change the Be Our Guest list from the BCV to BC garden view for us. I also want to thank you for this thread, every morning this is the first thing I go to :thumbsup2

Everyone with up coming trips have a Magical time

and I thank you for that rule, robyn. At BWI CL a few years back some 10 - 11 I am guessing boys where thrilled to see "brownies" and used their bare hands to stuff their plates and pockets full of brown sugar cubes that they must consume frequently enough to be so excited to see them. SO turned me off. A CM came over right away and reprimanded them and I so nicely asked for the sugar to be replaced.:scared:

Thanks for the report. If you can get over to the Contemporary, the Caramel cupcake they have at the Contempo Cafe is INSANE. I didn't take pictures (too busy eating), but imagine gooey caramel gushing out from the inside. Super-sweet, in a good way. :rotfl2: It doesn't sound like any of these will match up, that's fine.

I've seen too much with kids unattended in the CL lounge too.

Even though mine are always prepped with "do not touch any food with your hands, do not fill your plate like you've never eaten before, etc" I will allow the girls (13 and 14) to go into the lounge alone. Ds (11) has to go with us - even though I'm positive he knows how to behave. I've been turned off too many times by kids clearing a whole plate of something or even butting in front of you to get what they want.

Any chance the Cape May rehab will be done a week early? We will be at the BC from July 26th to August 3rd (may we be listed on the schedule of visitors?).
