LOL-nope.... we're near Boston, MA (the city with all the fabulous sports teams :thumbsup2:thumbsup2) :)

Today would have been the last day had we not had 6 snow days :confused3:scared1::eek: Next Tuesday (the 28th) will be the last day.... the latest it's ever been! :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 Love all the BOSTON teams! :thumbsup2

My kids were supposed to get out last week, but we had 7 snow days:scared1: Tomorrow is their last day. BC GV CL, Here we come!

Thanks so much everyone on your TL advice/input!! :goodvibes:goodvibes I'm not making a decision until once we're there and we see how the week plays out (and what the weather holds! LOL!). I figure I can just buy the tix there or add the WP&M option if we do decide we may go more than once... 30 more days!

Thinking of you Teena and hoping you get some relief very, very soon!!!! Anxiously awaiting news on Peanut's arrival and also can't wait to see you again!!!! :cool1:

Robyn-((((HUGS)))) to you and thinking of you and your Mom

Ryan! HI!!!!!!:yay::yay::yay: Long time no "see" !!! :) I hope you'll post some Disney pics on your FB page so I can get my fix!!! LOL!

~~Tracey :goodvibes

Just making sure that you know that you can upgrade a 1 day water park admission to the WPFM during your trip, so you don't even have to decide to pay for the WPF&M until you definitely decide to go to the second park or more. I don't know if I am explaining that well, but check out Cheshire Figment's ticket sticky for a better description. I wish we had done that- we added 4 WPF&M but only Ben and I went to two WP- Mark and Nate just went to BB, so we would have saved a few dollars (maybe about $20), if we had waited and upgraded just Ben and my tickets. KWIM?

Marlton Mom- Welcome back to the real world. Don't want to say "Welcome Home" since that is reserved for your return trip to BC!

Thanks for the photos you did take, and no worries on the ones you didn't! I guess we will just suffer with the room photo with my son's leg in it!

And yes, I did notice that beautiful picture of the BC back entrance. YOWSA!

I don't know what I am making for dinner either, so your recipe of corn chips sounds pretty darn good.

Talk to you soon!

Hello! I don't frequent this thread often, but have come here to gather info before our trip. We were at the BC from 6/3-6/6 before moving to the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge (weren't able to get BCV). This was the first time our children (19, 15, 12 and 7) were getting to stay there and they LOVED it (DH and I had stayed there last summer for two nights) . We stayed on the Club level and had the room directly next to the lounge (we actually had two rooms, but mine was next to the lounge.) The staff was just wonderful, very helpful and kind. We have stay club level at the BWI, Poly and GF and this was BY FAR our favorite staff. We were sad to leave.
We were able to meet Teena briefly one evening in the lobby! It was like meeting a super star, except I felt kind of like a stalker since I knew her but she knew nothing about me :)

Thanks for posting about this! I just went to check and our return flight home has dropped to $80! Unfortunately, because just my first initial is on the ticket, I can't change it online, so I'm currently waiting a very long time on the phone and hopefully they can change it for me. This way we'll have flight credit to use for our grad school scouting trip in January! I hope they can change it since the flight fare is "web only"...

ETA: All set-saved $120!

I hope this is allowed, but just wanted to say that I am so so excited!! I will be attending a conference at the YC on August 4th-6th. We got a discounted rate if we booked additional nights, so a friend and I extended our reservations until the 10th! 6 nights at the YC, I hardly know what to do with myself. This will be my second ever stay on Disney property, the first was on a family trip when I was 7 years old (we stayed at the Poly). I have had many trips to Disney so far but this will be the first that is completely self-funded and self-planned. Scary and exciting at the same time!

That's super ... I know you'll have a super time. Allow plenty of time to enjoy Stormalong Bay! Nothing like floating around the lazy river with a noodle!

That's super ... I know you'll have a super time. Allow plenty of time to enjoy Stormalong Bay! Nothing like floating around the lazy river with a noodle!

I think that lazy river was our favorite part.

During the day, someone left a tube floating unattended, and after a long period of watching it go unclaimed, Evan and I snatched it and dragged it over to the lazy river. We got 2 laps in before being busted for felony theft of an inflatable by the irate renters. Evan and I went back to floating on our voluptuous pool noodles and laughed about it the whole rest of the afternoon. I swear we really did try to find the owners!

It seems that at night they leave some tubes out that are up for grabs. During the day it is apparently different with the tubes being rented for a set time and then they have to be returned. We never rented one because the noodles were doing such a great job. I did see a number of those sad looking, thin and floppy noodles and their equally sad noodle wranglers struggling to stay afloat against overwhelmingly inferior "noodlage". Every hour on the hour we would parade our voluptuous noodles around the pool for all to see and envy!

The concrete was hot so be sure to take pool shoes if you are going to be doing any hopping between pools or you plan on hoofing it over to Hannas for some chow.

You'll also be happy to know that the pool was super saturated with life guards, all of whom were taking their job very seriously. It's nice to know that Disney takes security seriously. One night, good old Marlton Mom had a run in with hotel security at the pool. In fact on this trip, Marlton Mom got to meet quite a few of the Security personnel at the parks and the hotel but that will have to wait for another post. Don't worry though... I wasn't doing anything wrong. Security just had it's hairy eyeball on yours truly due to all the pictures I was taking, (ahem) after hours at the parks and such. All was well and they were very accommodating and helpful so no harm there.

As for the quiet pool, the water was so warm due to it's shallow nature and the fact that the temps never really got below 78 degrees at night. SAB was pretty toasty as well so if you like your pool water warm you are in for a treat. The construction guys were working there on the afternoon I was hanging out with my 2 girlfriends and 3 y.o. Max. We were chatting away with no problems hearing each other so the noise is not overwhelming at all.

SAB was busy in the afternoon but with a bit of looking you could find a chair or 2 to plop your stuff down on. The pool was never overcrowded as far as we were concerned. They were really checking arm bands though so it was impossible to sneak into the pool. They actually read the data on your keys to the world card and if you forgot it you had to go back and get it. once you had the arm band on you were good for the day though, although they applied it tight enough that you couldn't slip it off and pass it on.

I did see a number of Ducks and their babies at the pool, and upon closer inspection you could see that they had presented their keys to the world card and were sporting little ankle bands in that day's color. The baby ducks were even wearing swim diapers! Thankfully they never seemed to require the use of the pool chairs, opting instead for the mysterious bushes. I guess they were kind of bashful when they had to get changed.

Marlton MomI thought you were going to say security was watching you for your raids to get CL goodies  Glad to hear the noodles worked. I can't wait till our Aug. stay.

OH Robyn! This is such a trying time for everybody in your family. A nice vacation immersed in all that is Disney is just the ticket for your much needed rejuvenation.

I have to get my thoughts together for a trip report and I have a million pictures to process in photoshop and post for the report. I've decided to split my trip report into 2 with a BC photo report and then a photo report on all the other stuff we saw at the parks. I'll do the BC photo report first but it will take me some time to to get to it because I have to do all the post processing and then do all the home stuff, like food shopping, opening our pool, bailing out the dog from my sister in laws, etc, etc...

Dee gave me a list of pictures that she wanted to get but there were a few that got away from me.

We did not get pictures of the room, empty of all our junk. Our departure flight at 6 am was canceled and we did not get on another plane until 2 pm so by the time we got to the resort at 6:30 pm we were toasted and I could not ask the family to wait outside while I took pictures of the room before we plopped and dropped. It was pretty chaotic checking in because I had to herd my family, Bell services, and the front desk into finding/delivering to the room, 3 packages, a rented Recliner AND a Garden Grocery delivery.

Bell services kept coming up with one thing at a time, thinking that they were done so I had to keep explaining what was missing and where it was supposed to be based upon the info that the front desk provided. It didn't help that a different teenager from bell services showed up each time with a different item and had no idea what was going on. I would ask that person to personally take care of coordinating the other items and even though they said they would take care of it, we had to start all over again with the next new guy.

I also was supposed to get pictures of the transportation signs on the boats and bus area but it seemed we were always running to catch the boat/bus and we never waited more than 2 seconds. I was very chagrined at this and I figure the way to avoid waiting for transportation is to try and document it with a camera.

I got most of the other pictures with the exception of 1 or 2 that were on the list. Some even showed up posted on the thread like that beauty shot of the back (pool) main entrance of the resort... Ooh la LA!

I also accomplished my other missions and I'm pleased to report that I got to spend some quality time in the lobby with Teena while we were waiting for departure on Monday. She is through and true a Jersey Girl so it felt very much like meeting an old friend. :goodvibes

Here is a construction update for those of you a bit on the neurotic side. Construction had zero impact on our trip. The guys were here, there and anywhere at any given period of time and aside from the sound of hand sanders (Think dremels) they were not even that loud.

Don't bother fretting about the construction because you will be so busy/hot/tired that you truly will not even care. It's important to note that the construction consists of maybe 2 or 3 groups of like 8 guys each and not swarms of workers so visually it has very little impact on your enjoyment to the resort.

When last seen the Construction was along the 1501 entrance side of the resort, the quiet pool area and at the back, pool side entrance to the BC.

Now it's time for weather and traffic.

The weather was hot, HOT, HOT!!! :furious:
with heat near record highs nearly every day we were there. We had a minimum of rain and the pool was closed a few times for lightning. Fantasmic was canceled mid show after a lightning bolt struck closer than 1 mile away during the show. That sure is comforting when you are sitting on those aluminum benches. When it was sunny (Frequently) the sun was strong and hot so every one in the parks was walking from shady spot to shady spot... then to an Air Conditioned Store/Attraction.

Be sure to pack extra clothes if you are not planning on doing laundry because you will be drenched with sweat doing the parks. The laundry room was accessible and easy to use with no great demand however if you do decide to pack light. I took a lot of pictures to document the exact location of the "secret" second laundry room but here is the easy way to find it.

You have the 1501 entrance. That is the first door along that EPCOT 'secret' side entrance. If you keep walking further along that path you will come to a second door that is near 1532. THAT is where the second "secret" laundry room is. It has 2 washers and 2 dryers and a couple of VENDING MACHINES.

The other laundry room is by the ..... Anyone, anyone?? THAT'S RIGHT, it's by the quiet pool! (You HAVE been paying attention!!) That's the one my husband used and he hit it mid afternoon with no trouble as far as delays are concerned. Now don't think I don't see those of you in the back row snickering in amazement that I got my husband to do the laundry. It's not such a bargain after all because he usually ruins that favorite shirt in some tragic, brain dead laundry accident so stop being jealous!

The (foot) traffic report is that the 1501 is so close to the entrance to EPCOT that's it's not even worth worrying about.

You need to have 2 different size "scales" in mind when you compare walking at home to walking at Disney World. In the scale of things at Disney that 1501 entrance was CLOSE to EPCOT.

To get ready for this trip I started working out in February. When the weather got nice I was walking outside for an hour a day, four times a week. This really helped to get me into "Disney Shape". ALL YOU DO IS WALK! WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK, WALKWALKWALK!!!

~ Start getting in shape now, no matter how close your trip is by walking!! ~

I promise it will really help. Yeah you still get tired and stiff from all the walking but it really helps to decrease the negative impact of all that exercise in the HEAT!!!

OK, so that concludes the the traffic, weather and the fitness advisory.

Aye yi yi!!! My "dear" Husband..... sigh!!! It seems he went back to the car after we had unloaded it in the airport parking lot at 4:30 in the morning to swap out his glasses. He left the light on inside the car and the battery was dead when we got to the car at 11:30 pm last night. Of course he insisted that it was the "cars" fault and not his, but My son Evan and I know better and our "Mr. Magoo" has a rap sheet a mile long with these kind of blunders.

The Atlantic City airport is really great with helping people and in a jiffy they arrived with a hand held battery jumper to bail us out. I cannot emphasize enough the great service and friendly atmosphere that you experience when you fly out through Atlantic City airport. Our little 8 hour delay was spent playing video games, playing around with the massage chairs and getting to know the people in the snack bar for breakfast and lunch. A really friendly bunch, let me tell you! Spirit airlines also took good care of us with a free lunch and $150.00 credit plus they didn't charge us on the way out for out over weight bags. The bags coming home were of an epic weight so we did get slightly charged for them but it was worth it if you ask me :lmao:

OK so It's time for me to hit the supermarket for some fresh food. I had Doritos for breakfast and if I don't get going we are going to have corn chips for dinner.

Look for picture reports from me from time to time about different areas of the resort. I got a lot of Pool pictures showing the activities and I took a ton of pictures of the resort at night, especially because it was too damn hot during the day to stand out there 1 minute longer with out getting wet or walking from 1 AC spot to another. Hopefully you'll see some shots of the BC in a way that you've never seen before. All this will take time so stay tuned for further details.

This is Marlton Mom signing off for now!

:grouphug:

PS, I ran into the noodle family frolicking in the pool at the resort! They were kind enough to show me the ins and outs of the pool. I Introduced them to Danny's Mom and she said her and her kids would show them a good time at Storm Along Bay.

 Rough start! I look forward to seeing the pics! Hope you got some of the secret closet :goodvibes

Well, after their introduction to the Beach Club/Yacht Club and Stormalong Bay, the Noodle Family has decided to stick around. The first handoff was successful!

We want to make sure that we can keep these guys around for as long as possible- so here are some suggestions

1) Apparently the noodles' skin is impervious to tattoos. The sharpies did not work. So, no drawing on the noodles- pictures are still encouraged, though.

2) Please exchange contact info with the family you are handing off to or receiving the noodles from.

3) If for some reason the noodle handoff does not go as planned OR if you are the custodians of noodle prior to a "GAP" period, please return the noodle family to Bell Services, using the pickup name "Mrs. Noodle". Bell Services will be their default "home away from home"

4) If you are picking up the noodles from Bell Services, please tip a couple of dollars. It won't take the CMs very long to figure out what is going on or to notice that the same noodles are returning again and again, but as long as everyone is polite and generous, I don't think there will be a problem.

5) If there is a problem with your handoff or pickup, or you suspect that the noodle family may be MIA, please alert natebenma or Marlton Mom by PM ASAP. If a noodle recovery team needs to be assembled, we are on it!

Thanks, and enjoy!

Well guys, it looks like we are heading back to the World for our first ever Christmas In Disney trip!!!

Unfortunatly, unless a great discount comes up, we will be staying at CSR for this trip :headache: We've never stayed there, so I'm not sure what to expect.

Hopefully we can change that ressie to a deluxe resort, and that is where my question comes in.................for a Christmas vacation, do you all still stay at BC/YC? or do you pick a different theme?

I know we will be back to BC/YC next May, already working on those dates, but it still feels weird going elsewhere in December.

My online check in window is opening soon.:cool1: I am still on the fence about whether to use it or not. We have a BC GV room. We are arriving early in the AM, probably between 10:30 and 11:00. I imagine there will be a lot of checkouts at that time making the lines long, but I requested a full balcony and really would like one. (Would have booked YC, but there was no availability)

I don't expect our room to be ready when we check in and we are willing to wait as long as necessary to get a room with a full balcony, if possible. Do you think I should do online check in or not? :confused3

Hello... We're about to stay at the BC for the very first time and I have two pretty important questions:

1. Should I put in a particular room request? We've never stayed there before, so I have no idea. I wouldn't mind being close to SAB or the lobby or the exit to EPCOT. In other words, I'd be pretty happy anywhere. Is there anywhere that isn't close to anything?

2. Should I do on-line check-in? I've always done it in the past, when staying in a mod. We will be arriving pretty early...does it actually make it any more likely that our room will be ready? Also, I've heard rumors that doing on-line check-in means you won't get an upgrade (provided that one was available...please know that I'm not really looking for anything for free, nor do I really expect an upgrade), nor will you be able to change your room if you want/need to.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated. TIA! :thumbsup2

I suggest not checking in on-line. The only time we used on-line check-in was for a quick trip last year, and we were literally willing to grab our keys and go! The on-line check-in is for that purpose, so when I request a full balcony and I plan to talk with the front desk CM about it we do not check-in on-line.

In all our BC visits, the regular check-in line has never been long. We've checked in at various times of the day, ranging from 8am to 2pm (including the time frame you mentioned for your arrival.)

Actually, the only time we ever experienced a wait at BC for check-in was that one time that we used on-line! Another guest who had checked in on-line had several requests (not as simple as a full balcony!) that she was discussing with the CM. We weren't upset, just thought it was ironic (and the guest was a little over-the-top, so there was entertainment value in it.) The CM who came over from the regular line to help us appreciated that we took our packet, said thank you without even looking at our room assignment, and went on our way! So it's really for grab-and-go!

Hello!!

1. When we're staying at a resort for the first time and I'm not sure what I would like, I don't make any requests. I usually request a full balcony at BC, but that's it! In my opinion, there are benefits to different locations - either you are close to the lobby or close to Epcot. You know you will have a nice garden view either way. I do think everything is close at the BC. Some have commented on the length of the hallways, but that's not an issue for us. When we stayed close to Epcot, we loved it. And if we didn't want to go through the hallways, we would take the path along Crescent Lake to the lobby.

2. The one time we checked in on-line for BC, we booked standard (no GV at the time.) We just grabbed our keys and were off, so the CM didn't have time to tell us that we received an upgrade. When we walked into our room with a very nice view, it was clear that we received an upgrade! (I double checked here when we returned home, and someone confirmed it was a water view room!) If you would like to discuss or change your room assignment with the CM at the front desk, then definitely skip the on-line check-in.
