OH Robyn! This is such a trying time for everybody in your family. A nice vacation immersed in all that is Disney is just the ticket for your much needed rejuvenation.
I have to get my thoughts together for a trip report and I have a million pictures to process in photoshop and post for the report. I've decided to split my trip report into 2 with a BC photo report and then a photo report on all the other stuff we saw at the parks. I'll do the BC photo report first but it will take me some time to to get to it because I have to do all the post processing and then do all the home stuff, like food shopping, opening our pool, bailing out the dog from my sister in laws, etc, etc...
Dee gave me a list of pictures that she wanted to get but there were a few that got away from me.
We did not get pictures of the room, empty of all our junk. Our departure flight at 6 am was canceled and we did not get on another plane until 2 pm so by the time we got to the resort at 6:30 pm we were toasted and I could not ask the family to wait outside while I took pictures of the room before we plopped and dropped. It was pretty chaotic checking in because I had to herd my family, Bell services, and the front desk into finding/delivering to the room, 3 packages, a rented Recliner AND a Garden Grocery delivery.
Bell services kept coming up with one thing at a time, thinking that they were done so I had to keep explaining what was missing and where it was supposed to be based upon the info that the front desk provided. It didn't help that a different teenager from bell services showed up each time with a different item and had no idea what was going on. I would ask that person to personally take care of coordinating the other items and even though they said they would take care of it, we had to start all over again with the next new guy.
I also was supposed to get pictures of the transportation signs on the boats and bus area but it seemed we were always running to catch the boat/bus and we never waited more than 2 seconds. I was very chagrined at this and I figure the way to avoid waiting for transportation is to try and document it with a camera.
I got most of the other pictures with the exception of 1 or 2 that were on the list. Some even showed up posted on the thread like that beauty shot of the back (pool) main entrance of the resort... Ooh la LA!
I also accomplished my other missions and I'm pleased to report that I got to spend some quality time in the lobby with Teena while we were waiting for departure on Monday. She is through and true a Jersey Girl so it felt very much like meeting an old friend.
Here is a construction update for those of you a bit on the neurotic side. Construction had zero impact on our trip. The guys were here, there and anywhere at any given period of time and aside from the sound of hand sanders (Think dremels) they were not even that loud.
Don't bother fretting about the construction because you will be so busy/hot/tired that you truly will not even care. It's important to note that the construction consists of maybe 2 or 3 groups of like 8 guys each and not swarms of workers so visually it has very little impact on your enjoyment to the resort.
When last seen the Construction was along the 1501 entrance side of the resort, the quiet pool area and at the back, pool side entrance to the BC.
Now it's time for weather and traffic.
The weather was hot, HOT,
HOT!!!
with heat near record highs nearly every day we were there. We had a minimum of rain and the pool was closed a few times for lightning. Fantasmic was canceled mid show after a lightning bolt struck closer than 1 mile away during the show. That sure is comforting when you are sitting on those aluminum benches. When it was sunny (Frequently) the sun was strong and hot so every one in the parks was walking from shady spot to shady spot... then to an Air Conditioned Store/Attraction.
Be sure to pack extra clothes if you are not planning on doing laundry because you will be drenched with sweat doing the parks. The laundry room was accessible and easy to use with no great demand however if you do decide to pack light. I took a lot of pictures to document the exact location of the "secret" second laundry room but here is the easy way to find it.
You have the 1501 entrance. That is the first door along that EPCOT 'secret' side entrance. If you keep walking further along that path you will come to a second door that is near 1532. THAT is where the second "secret" laundry room is. It has 2 washers and 2 dryers and a couple of VENDING MACHINES.
The other laundry room is by the ..... Anyone, anyone?? THAT'S RIGHT, it's by the quiet pool! (You HAVE been paying attention!!

) That's the one my husband used and he hit it mid afternoon with no trouble as far as delays are concerned. Now don't think I don't see those of you in the back row snickering in amazement that I got my husband to do the laundry. It's not such a bargain after all because he usually ruins that favorite shirt in some tragic, brain dead laundry accident so stop being jealous!
The (foot) traffic report is that the 1501 is so close to the entrance to EPCOT that's it's not even worth worrying about.
You need to have 2 different size "scales" in mind when you compare walking at home to walking at Disney World. In the scale of things at Disney that 1501 entrance was CLOSE to EPCOT.
To get ready for this trip I started working out in February. When the weather got nice I was walking outside for an hour a day, four times a week. This really helped to get me into "Disney Shape". ALL YOU DO IS WALK! WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK, WALKWALKWALK!!!
~ Start getting in shape now, no matter how close your trip is by walking!! ~
I promise it will really help. Yeah you still get tired and stiff from all the walking but it really helps to decrease the negative impact of all that exercise in the HEAT!!!
OK, so that concludes the the traffic, weather and the fitness advisory.
Aye yi yi!!! My "dear" Husband..... sigh!!! It seems he went back to the car after we had unloaded it in the airport parking lot at 4:30 in the morning to swap out his glasses. He left the light on inside the car and the battery was dead when we got to the car at 11:30 pm last night. Of course he insisted that it was the "cars" fault and not his, but My son Evan and I know better and our "Mr. Magoo" has a rap sheet a mile long with these kind of blunders.
The Atlantic City airport is really great with helping people and in a jiffy they arrived with a hand held battery jumper to bail us out. I cannot emphasize enough the great service and friendly atmosphere that you experience when you fly out through Atlantic City airport. Our little 8 hour delay was spent playing video games, playing around with the massage chairs and getting to know the people in the snack bar for breakfast and lunch. A really friendly bunch, let me tell you! Spirit airlines also took good care of us with a free lunch and $150.00 credit plus they didn't charge us on the way out for out over weight bags. The bags coming home were of an epic weight so we did get slightly charged for them but it was worth it if you ask me
OK so It's time for me to hit the supermarket for some fresh food. I had Doritos for breakfast and if I don't get going we are going to have corn chips for dinner.
Look for picture reports from me from time to time about different areas of the resort. I got a lot of Pool pictures showing the activities and I took a ton of pictures of the resort at night, especially because it was too damn hot during the day to stand out there 1 minute longer with out getting wet or walking from 1 AC spot to another. Hopefully you'll see some shots of the BC in a way that you've never seen before. All this will take time so stay tuned for further details.
This is Marlton Mom signing off for now!
PS, I ran into the noodle family frolicking in the pool at the resort! They were kind enough to show me the ins and outs of the pool. I Introduced them to Danny's Mom and she said her and her kids would show them a good time at Storm Along Bay.
