natebenma What a wonderful tip! Ending the evening with a stroll through Epcot....These are just the kind of ideas I appreciate learing here on the YC/BC thread ! :thumbsup2 Does this work better on nights that there is not EMH...???

Unfortunately, I can't answer that for you. We are all early risers and like Cinderella, we do not do well in the late hours- by 10 PM, we are toast!

Most of the time when we do this it is early afternoon. We will be at MK from 8 am until we are done (maybe 1 or 2), then head back via the monorail and hang out at EPCOT until it is time for a swim or to get ready for dinner.

You live in NY too ?? We have 6 days left too and can not wait for it to end !! LOL

LOL-nope.... we're near Boston, MA (the city with all the fabulous sports teams :thumbsup2:thumbsup2) :)

Today would have been the last day had we not had 6 snow days :confused3:scared1::eek: Next Tuesday (the 28th) will be the last day.... the latest it's ever been! :rolleyes1

TEENA-can't wait to see you again too!!!!:banana::banana::banana:

natebenma (Dee) or anyone else who has any input....

This is trip WDW #8 for our girls and #23 for me :rotfl: While I've done Typhoon Lagoon and good ole Water Country many, many years ago, our girls have never been to a water park... EVER. We've always assumed SAB was good enough since we always stay @ the YC/BC. The last couple of years I kept toying with the idea of going to TL and this year is no exception. They are nearly 11 and 8.5 years old. Is it even worth spending the extra $$$ to go since I know it would be insanely crowded in the summer? Of course we would be there before opening as we do with all parks.... but we can really only fit it in one day and from the posts I've searched on the Dis, it seems that within a couple of hours, the lines are over an hour long and the wave pool is beyond packed. DH has no desire at all to go, but would do so reluctantly :rotfl: :rotfl:

So, skip it or dish out another $200+ for a few hours @ the waterpark???

That is the week we are thinking of for next year. Could you please note how the crowds at the parks are and let us know when you get back? Also, how full the YC/BC is?

I absolutely will. :thumbsup2 We usually go the last week of August and fly out on Labor Day just in time for school and the crowds are very, very light. (Walk on to Soarin' light...). But, because I am teaching in a new school district this year, I have to be back early for an orientation. I'm hoping for light crowds at SAB since this is our first time at YC.

Just noticed you check in the day we leave:( We are also staying for 2 nights at RPH before our BC stay...first time ever at Universal!!!

I went to both Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon last May (detailed reviews are found in my TR in my siggie). I preferred BB, honestly, but neither of them really blew me away. We went to BB at opening (10am) and stayed until about 1:30. I did nearly everything at the park during that time (Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, Downhill Double Dipper, one slide of Runoff Rapids, one slide of Snow Stormers, rode the whole lazy river, swam for a bit in the wave pool, and had lunch).

At TL, I believe I arrived around 2:15 (it took an hour to get there from AKL!). I stayed until about 4:15 (and waited for quite awhile to get a bus back...). In those two hours I rode Crush n Gusher 2x (one slide each time), did Humunga Kowabunga, Mayday Falls, rode partway around the lazy river, and spent quite a bit of time in the wave pool. There were some waits, but I'd say for either park, no more than 25 minutes or so.

If your family really likes water parks, sure, go for it. But if you are satisfied with SAB, I wouldn't spend that much extra just for a few hours. It's really not worth it.

I'm not sure if my input will help or not. We have not done a waterpark "day"- our plan is to add the WPF&M and then spend a few hours at each of the parks. And we don't do any of the big slides. I don't like body slides- just the ones with rafts.

We arrive between 2-3 in the afternoon, and in 4 July trips to the waterparks we were always able to find seats. Afternoon wait times were about 20 minutes for attractions like CrushnGusher and Shark Reef at TL and the family ride at BB. Lazy River and Wave pools at both are crowded, but manageable.

Are the girls excellent swimmers? The wave pool at TL is pretty intense, but we really like it. The one at BB is too tame, more of a bobbing pool. The family ride at BB is much better than the one at TL, though.

I think that it would be worth going to the WP if you add on the WPF&M and plan on visiting another water park during your trip or maybe Quest or one of the other "more" perks.

Animal Kingdom is a half-day park for our family, so we find that pairing AK with BB is just perfect because you can jump onto almost any bus and the first stop will be BB (ask the driver), so it is very quick.

As bellebookworm pointed out, the trip to TL can be lengthy, we have definitely experienced that, and we now take a cab from BC to TL (about $15 plus tip).

One other suggestion- watch the skies (and possibly the weather) during your trip. If there are frequent afternoon thunderstorms, the waterparks will shut down for a period of time.

Here's my take on the water parks:

Bob, Jeanne and I are huge TL fans. We are not fans of BB. We love the atmosphere at TL, the music, the landscaping and most of all the wave pool. Nothing can compare to those waves! We always show up before the park opens and are one of the first in. We can do every slide at least once without any wait ... just like going to Magic Kingdom when it opens ... that first hour is magic!!

We found out in April (week before Easter when it was sooooo crowded) that you can rent a reserved spot for $50. You get two lounge chairs, two sitting chairs, a small table, a huge umbrella and four towels ... all in a reserved area where you can only get in if you are wearing a special wristban. If you plan on being there all day, it is definitely the way to go. Our stuff was safe ... we didn't need to worry about leaving clothes on chairs and coming back and finding everything gone. After doing it in April, Bob said we will NEVER not do it.

They also have a cabana type experience too. I believe it's good for 6-8 people. Prices vary depending on season. All are padded chairs and under a gazebo type structure. They are in the same "reserved" area where we were. There is also a locker for you. You also get bottled cold water and a "CM" to go get you food and drinks ... sort of like a butler. Of course you have to pay for the food and drinks. That was overkill for us but we may consider it if Jeanne wants to do TL when Peanut and her come to visit.

The last time we were there, I forgot my water shoes and by the end of the day my feet were really hurting from walking barefoot on all that concrete and the burning of the concrete. Jeanne remembered her water shoes and she was the only one not hurting. Could be Bob and my feet are just "old" but I would have enjoyed the day much more if I had brought my water shoes!

Best wishes Tenna on a speedy recovery!!!:littleangel::littleangel::littleangel::flower3:

Teena, on an early morning hours day, when BB opens at 8:00, is a "good strategy" to use TL???? We are flexible and can do either, but I heard that is a good stragegy...Use the opposite water park than the one that has EMH???

Thanks much for any advice anyone has!:dance3::dance3:

It's Ryan.

I am writing to you from our hotel room in Hollywood, after spending a lovely week in Disneyland! We will be finishing our trip with our last day back at Disney, but that is not the purpose of this post.

I would highly recommend Typhoon Lagoon. We go to one waterpark, at least, when we go to Disney World. The lines do get long, but it is so much fun and definitely worth doing. We only spent half a day the last time and got to spend plenty of time in the Lazy River and ride many, many slides and swim with the sharks. I think you and the girls will definitely enjoy it.

3 weeks from today we leave!

I can hardly wait.

Teena - hope you are feeling better. When do you head back for the big day?

I'll be bringing lots of tastycakes.

My mom is coming to stay with us until we go to Disney. Even though she wanted to go "home" she realizes that at least for a little while she needs to stay with us. After we leave she'll stay at my sisters' while we're gone and then we'll see what happens when we get back. It's been very stressful these last few weeks. We definitely need a Disney vacation.

I'm excited for our Second Annual Mini Dis Meet!

Can't wait to hear all about Marlton Mom's vacation.

Yep, it's good strategy! And thanks for the good wishes. Just returned from "zapping" and the doctor said I have fluid in my lung ... more antibiotics. I'm trying to focus on July 11th - Peanut's scheduled arrival!

AND I can say it took 20 MINS and $17.00 ( with tip!) To get to the Poly by cab.

Now I'm Getting ready to board the plane for the flight home! See you on the other side of Disney World.....

Marlton Mom

Oh, the sadest day. Hope you had a good flight home.

Oh, no. Prayers for a speedy recovery from that, Teena. You've had such a rough road with this radiation!

Robyn, sorry things have been so stressful.

Hope time flies for both of you! :grouphug:

It was great meeting Marlton Mom and the Noodle Family!!! They are wonderful people!!

Bob and I fly back for Peanut's big arrival day on July 10th (c-section scheduled for 7/11).

Hopefully I'll be feeling more like myself then. I finish "zaps" the end of this week. They put me on new antibiotics today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I can't wait for the meet too!

We had good luck taking a taxi but they both were for breakfasts. First one was for Kona Cafe at 7:55, we decided to try the bus route and change at the Magic Kingdom then monorail it over...The bus did show at 7:10am, but it took us 45 minutes to get there! So when we had an O'hana for 7:45 we did the taxi, it was 13.75 from the beach club lobby to the poly lobby...plus the tip and it took us around 15 minutes (maybe a little less). We vowed to never take a bus to early morning ressies anymore! Either wait around for buses or pay the premium to get there quick and hassle free.

Robyn--I am so sorry these last couple of weeks have been so hard. It is wonderful though that you are having your mom stay with you. If she can't be at home, being with family is the next best thing I am sure.

Teena--I hope the meds work quick, otherwise, I bet Peanut will help you along! Not too much longer. Babies are so exciting.

MM--Can't wait to hear all about your trip and the Noodle Family adventures

Thanks so much everyone on your TL advice/input!! :goodvibes:goodvibes I'm not making a decision until once we're there and we see how the week plays out (and what the weather holds! LOL!). I figure I can just buy the tix there or add the WP&M option if we do decide we may go more than once... 30 more days!

Thinking of you Teena and hoping you get some relief very, very soon!!!! Anxiously awaiting news on Peanut's arrival and also can't wait to see you again!!!! :cool1:

Robyn-((((HUGS)))) to you and thinking of you and your Mom

Ryan! HI!!!!!!:yay::yay::yay: Long time no "see" !!! :) I hope you'll post some Disney pics on your FB page so I can get my fix!!! LOL!

~~Tracey :goodvibes

Thanks! I figured the bus would be easier in the morning, but we could do either thing later in the day.
Well maybe you could the opposite when leaving the Magic Kingdom. For example you can take the Express Monorail to the TTC, switch to the Epcot Monorail and when you get there walk through Future World, enter World Showcase and then the International Gateway to the Beach Club. This way you wouldn't be in such a rush and can take your time.

OH Robyn! This is such a trying time for everybody in your family. A nice vacation immersed in all that is Disney is just the ticket for your much needed rejuvenation.

I have to get my thoughts together for a trip report and I have a million pictures to process in photoshop and post for the report. I've decided to split my trip report into 2 with a BC photo report and then a photo report on all the other stuff we saw at the parks. I'll do the BC photo report first but it will take me some time to to get to it because I have to do all the post processing and then do all the home stuff, like food shopping, opening our pool, bailing out the dog from my sister in laws, etc, etc...

Dee gave me a list of pictures that she wanted to get but there were a few that got away from me.

We did not get pictures of the room, empty of all our junk. Our departure flight at 6 am was canceled and we did not get on another plane until 2 pm so by the time we got to the resort at 6:30 pm we were toasted and I could not ask the family to wait outside while I took pictures of the room before we plopped and dropped. It was pretty chaotic checking in because I had to herd my family, Bell services, and the front desk into finding/delivering to the room, 3 packages, a rented Recliner AND a Garden Grocery delivery.

Bell services kept coming up with one thing at a time, thinking that they were done so I had to keep explaining what was missing and where it was supposed to be based upon the info that the front desk provided. It didn't help that a different teenager from bell services showed up each time with a different item and had no idea what was going on. I would ask that person to personally take care of coordinating the other items and even though they said they would take care of it, we had to start all over again with the next new guy.

I also was supposed to get pictures of the transportation signs on the boats and bus area but it seemed we were always running to catch the boat/bus and we never waited more than 2 seconds. I was very chagrined at this and I figure the way to avoid waiting for transportation is to try and document it with a camera.

I got most of the other pictures with the exception of 1 or 2 that were on the list. Some even showed up posted on the thread like that beauty shot of the back (pool) main entrance of the resort... Ooh la LA!

I also accomplished my other missions and I'm pleased to report that I got to spend some quality time in the lobby with Teena while we were waiting for departure on Monday. She is through and true a Jersey Girl so it felt very much like meeting an old friend. :goodvibes

Here is a construction update for those of you a bit on the neurotic side. Construction had zero impact on our trip. The guys were here, there and anywhere at any given period of time and aside from the sound of hand sanders (Think dremels) they were not even that loud.

Don't bother fretting about the construction because you will be so busy/hot/tired that you truly will not even care. It's important to note that the construction consists of maybe 2 or 3 groups of like 8 guys each and not swarms of workers so visually it has very little impact on your enjoyment to the resort.

When last seen the Construction was along the 1501 entrance side of the resort, the quiet pool area and at the back, pool side entrance to the BC.

Now it's time for weather and traffic.

The weather was hot, HOT, HOT!!! :furious:
with heat near record highs nearly every day we were there. We had a minimum of rain and the pool was closed a few times for lightning. Fantasmic was canceled mid show after a lightning bolt struck closer than 1 mile away during the show. That sure is comforting when you are sitting on those aluminum benches. When it was sunny (Frequently) the sun was strong and hot so every one in the parks was walking from shady spot to shady spot... then to an Air Conditioned Store/Attraction.

Be sure to pack extra clothes if you are not planning on doing laundry because you will be drenched with sweat doing the parks. The laundry room was accessible and easy to use with no great demand however if you do decide to pack light. I took a lot of pictures to document the exact location of the "secret" second laundry room but here is the easy way to find it.

You have the 1501 entrance. That is the first door along that EPCOT 'secret' side entrance. If you keep walking further along that path you will come to a second door that is near 1532. THAT is where the second "secret" laundry room is. It has 2 washers and 2 dryers and a couple of VENDING MACHINES.

The other laundry room is by the ..... Anyone, anyone?? THAT'S RIGHT, it's by the quiet pool! (You HAVE been paying attention!!) That's the one my husband used and he hit it mid afternoon with no trouble as far as delays are concerned. Now don't think I don't see those of you in the back row snickering in amazement that I got my husband to do the laundry. It's not such a bargain after all because he usually ruins that favorite shirt in some tragic, brain dead laundry accident so stop being jealous!

The (foot) traffic report is that the 1501 is so close to the entrance to EPCOT that's it's not even worth worrying about.

You need to have 2 different size "scales" in mind when you compare walking at home to walking at Disney World. In the scale of things at Disney that 1501 entrance was CLOSE to EPCOT.

To get ready for this trip I started working out in February. When the weather got nice I was walking outside for an hour a day, four times a week. This really helped to get me into "Disney Shape". ALL YOU DO IS WALK! WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK, WALK, WALKWALKWALK!!!

~ Start getting in shape now, no matter how close your trip is by walking!! ~

I promise it will really help. Yeah you still get tired and stiff from all the walking but it really helps to decrease the negative impact of all that exercise in the HEAT!!!

OK, so that concludes the the traffic, weather and the fitness advisory.

Oh, the sadest day. Hope you had a good flight home.

Aye yi yi!!! My "dear" Husband..... sigh!!! It seems he went back to the car after we had unloaded it in the airport parking lot at 4:30 in the morning to swap out his glasses. He left the light on inside the car and the battery was dead when we got to the car at 11:30 pm last night. Of course he insisted that it was the "cars" fault and not his, but My son Evan and I know better and our "Mr. Magoo" has a rap sheet a mile long with these kind of blunders.

The Atlantic City airport is really great with helping people and in a jiffy they arrived with a hand held battery jumper to bail us out. I cannot emphasize enough the great service and friendly atmosphere that you experience when you fly out through Atlantic City airport. Our little 8 hour delay was spent playing video games, playing around with the massage chairs and getting to know the people in the snack bar for breakfast and lunch. A really friendly bunch, let me tell you! Spirit airlines also took good care of us with a free lunch and $150.00 credit plus they didn't charge us on the way out for out over weight bags. The bags coming home were of an epic weight so we did get slightly charged for them but it was worth it if you ask me :lmao:

OK so It's time for me to hit the supermarket for some fresh food. I had Doritos for breakfast and if I don't get going we are going to have corn chips for dinner.

Look for picture reports from me from time to time about different areas of the resort. I got a lot of Pool pictures showing the activities and I took a ton of pictures of the resort at night, especially because it was too damn hot during the day to stand out there 1 minute longer with out getting wet or walking from 1 AC spot to another. Hopefully you'll see some shots of the BC in a way that you've never seen before. All this will take time so stay tuned for further details.

This is Marlton Mom signing off for now!

:grouphug:

PS, I ran into the noodle family frolicking in the pool at the resort! They were kind enough to show me the ins and outs of the pool. I Introduced them to Danny's Mom and she said her and her kids would show them a good time at Storm Along Bay.
