beep, beep, beep, beepBeepBeeeeeep....

This is an alert.
I repeat this is an alert from the Noodle shipping department.
This is only an ALERT.

In the event of actual, Beach Club/Yacht Club news we would direct you to a more responsible contributor.

Here is the Noodle break down. Cost of 4 thick, voluptuous pool noodles at Target = $16 dollars. Cost to mail said voluptuous noodles to the Beach Club = $16 dollars.

Whacking DS about the head and neck with a non wimpy noodle = PRICELESS!!!

This concludes the alert from the noodle shipping department. Those of you that are laughing at the thought of spending $32.00 on pool noodles just ain't right in the head! Enjoy your wimpy, floppy sloppy excuse for a pool noodle. Me and mine shall be riding high in noodle luxury!

~Marlton Mom

Hey Marlton Mom, how did you ship them? Did you find a noodle-shaped box? Curve them around in a square box? (I'm wondering how they would hold up if they're squished. I'm not a noodle connoisseur, but as the Best Aunt In The World, I need to think about these things for my nieces.)

You need to post pictures of your noodles next to the wimpy noodles.

Thank you so much!!!!!! Keep wearing that shirt!

You sound like me ... Bob always rolls his eyes because I'll talk to strangers in elevators. I can picture myself talking to the contractors from my balcony!

Oh yes! We're a family of over-friendly-talky-nutters. You'd never know it now but as a child I was painfully shy and scared to death of my own shadow. I like to think my lovely DH brought me out of my shell. His grandmothers & mother have all told me stories about how he never in his life met a stranger. He even invited a homeless gentleman in a laundromat home to spend the night with him when he was 3. :lmao:

Hi sweetpee- do you want to be added to the "Guest List" we keep on the front page? What exactly are your YC dates? I'm a little confused by the dates in your signature :)

Oh thank you for the invite! I didn't know if September peeps were being listed yet! I'm totally IN! And thanks for getting me to glance down at my signature. We changed the front end of our upcoming trip by adding a day and moving up to the WL to make the entire trip completely full of elements we've not yet experienced. Yay! Mega blonde-moment on the typo for the year I had for our Wonder cruise. That's what happens when I get all excited!

We'll be checking into the YC CL after debarkation from our Dream cruise the morning of 9/18...the day of our 18th anniversary. We'll be making the YC our home until the morning of 9/24. However, according to the Mousekeeping Hideout & Spa planning sources, I'll be sending my 3 guys home on that morning and checking into the Hideout for my indefinite stay! :thumbsup2 See y'all there!!! :cool1:

YC

Hi! Thanks for checking. We will be at the Yacht Club not Beach Club.:)

Don't feel sorry about feeling that way! We have gone with family and friends on different times and a few times by our selves. When we are on our own we have the most fun and have the best memories! My brother serves in the Army and he makes it a point to go on his family only trips! In fact they are moving back to the states from Germany in Auguast and they are going on a Disney cruise to spain and italy, ect. Spend time as a family! If you just can't tell them no ask them if they can just meet up at the ADRs or just a few meeting spots and keep most of the trip random. From my self, my DH, and DS please tell your DH thanks for serving and a special thanks for you and your kids for supporting him! Being a Navy brat and my younger brother serving for over 10 years now I understand how hard it is to say good bye and how wonderful it is to hold them again! Thank you again!

Thank you I will pass it along and please tell your brother we appreciate him also. Thank you for the advice also I'm going to try my best to kep it relaxed and plan free except ADR's of course.

We learned last week that my DD has a problem with her knees and we go to WDW next week! They have put 1 leg in an immobilizer (basically a temporary cast that goes from her upper thigh to her ankle)! I have already rented a wheelchair for our trip as she is not allowed to walk long distances and cannot stand for long periods of time. She can walk with the immobilizer on her leg so we don’t need a handicap accessible room. She can also remove the immobilizer at the pool, so she can still swim (I am not sure how we are going to manage the slide yet:eek:). We will be staying for a week and will be going to each of the parks. This is our first time staying at BC. What kind of room request should I make? Any recommendations? I don’t plan on doing the online checkin and we should be checking in early (around noon).

If anyone has any thoughts on going to WDW with a partially immobile DD, I would love to hear those also.

TIA for your help!!

Ooh ooh ooh! I have a question!!

Is the construction only at the Beach Club or will be coming over to the Yacht Club too? :confused3

Last summer dd broke her leg in two places and had to have surgery to put screws in her leg. She was in a long leg cast for 8 weeks. She got the cast off two days before we left for Disney. Although she could walk, very slowly at first, the orthopedic surgeon told us she had to be in a wheelchair almost the whole trip. We had a gv cl room booked. We were on the 5th floor and didn't have any problems. We folded the wheelchair up in our room and then used it everywhere, except when we went to the pool. We didn't have any problems except for the idiot at the MK who commented, in front of dd, that dd probably just used the wheelchair to get to the front of the line since it didn't look like anything was wrong with her. grrrrrrrr.

Hope everything goes well for you dd.

Ooh ooh ooh! I have a question!!

Is the construction only at the Beach Club or will be coming over to the Yacht Club too? :confused3

Thanks!

Here's what I was told when I tried to find out about the ongoing construction.

Please take it with a grain of salt because so many factors (such as weather) can delay or speed up previous plans.

I was told that they would be done with the area near the gv cl rooms by the end of May. They planned on being done with the BC side around the end of July. Next they would start on YC.

I was telling DH about the renovations and showed him some of the pictures. I told him - if you don't think you can handle it tell me now and I'll try to change our reservations.

He told me that he would rather be at BC with a cherry picker in front of our room than at any other resort! True BC loyalty!

Just booked out very first stay at the BC for this winter!!! :yay: Great thread..lots..and lots of good info...although I admit I mostly skimmed!!

Have many disney trips under my belt but have always stayed at a monorail resort....

Would love some dining recommendations for those days when we are not in the parks... especially breakfast in the BC area...

Have transportations questions too...do you usually walk to Epcot...and what about DHS...

Looking foward to staying in Epcot much later than we usually do... since we usually leave before that end of evening monorail rush and crush!!!:upsidedow

Hope that wasnt too many questions!!?? I am truly an Epcot resort newbie...

TIA ... BlueSkies :)

PS Hi Teena!! We met when I was visiting the BC last winter after a delicious lunch at Beaches and Cream...our conversation was what put the thought of staying at the BC in my head! So this winter BC here we come!!

Welcome to the BC!

From the BC, you walk into Epcot ... 4 minutes. You take the boat to the Studios or you can walk (its over a mile so it's the boat for me). Then we have bus transportation everywhere else.

They have breakfast items (egg sandwiches, yogurt, fruit, danish, muffins, french toast sticks, etc.) at the Marketplace. They have the Cape May character buffet and they have a really nice sit down breakfast where you can do a buffet or order off a menu over at the YC at the Captains Grill.

WS in Epcot after dark is one of DH and I favorite things we love to linger it is just so beautiful. I have very fond memories of slowly walking back to YC the year we stayed there instead of fighting the crowds for a bus or monorail and can not wait to be at BC in October to be able to enjoy it all again.

The whole concept/idea of an on-line check-in is to make it quick for the guest checking in. With on-line, you supposedly walk up to the CM at the on-line desk, say hello, show your ID and they hand you your welcome packet with your keys in it. You say thanks and walk away. QUICK! If you want to ask about your room location and requests, then the whole concept of on-line goes out the door. Now your check-in is the same as a regular check-in. The CM must pull your reservation up on the system, check the room specifics, see if another room is available, call the room assignor, etc. Now that line is no longer quick.

If a resort is full and it's late at night and everybody has already checked in, we can't move you to another room even if you ask at check-in and find you do not like the room specifics you are assigned. There's no other room to switch you to. If you go to the regular check-in desk, we can at least tell you what type of room you have (the specifics of the room - location and balcony and beds) and if you are not satisfied, you can ask for a room change the next day and set it all up right there and then.

If you instead do the on-line check-in and just grab the keys and go to the room, if you find it is not to your liking, even if we have nothing else available that night, you would either have to call the front desk and set up a room change for the next day or hoof it back to the front desk and set up a room change for the next day.

Personally, I always find most people have at least one question at check-in. Therefore, they should be at the regular check-in line. If the CM needs to pull up your reservation to answer the question, then the on-line check-in line's purpose is defeated. It's suppose to be a "grab and go". The welcome packets are there waiting for you with the keys already in it. 99% of the time when the on-line line moves slower than the regular check-in line it's because a person in the on-line line asks the CM questions and doesn't just "grab and go".

Hope that helps ... it's hard to explain in writing.

Agreed! Just wanted to share our experience here, in case that's helpful. We don't usually make many requests on our reservation - maybe full balcony - but that's about it. We almost always do regular check-in, just in case we have questions or something comes up. I've never encountered a long line at BC in the regular check-in line, whether spring or summer, morning or afternoon. It could be that we're lucky, but it's always gone smoothly.

In fact, the longest wait we experienced at check-in was last July - that was the one and only time we've ever done on-line check-in. (And I mean longest line at WDW - not just BC!) In that case, we were entirely ready for a "grab-and-go." It was a quick 4-day trip (just an extra trip we booked while we had APs) and we were prepared to take anything the CM at the front desk gave us! The guest ahead of us in line, however, was not prepared to do that. She had several demands - serious demands. We were fine - it happens! (It was far worse for the CM helping the guest than it was for us.) Eventually, a very nice CM came over from the regular check-in line to help us and we proceeded to grab and go! That CM, however, seemed surprised that we were sticking with the grab-and-go program!
