2011 Wine & Dine Halloween 5k Fun Run

Hoping previous runners can help with my questions..

The Family 5k - what is the difference between the 5K Run and the Stroller Division? Do the strollers walk at a slower pace? Any clarification on the the two races would be helpful! THANKS!!

Strollers start at the back. Some whizzed by, some were behind me. Just like a regular race participant.

Two Questions!

1. Is there a way to purchase the pins AFTER registration? I didn't know about the pins but would love to be able to get one now.

2. Is anyone purchasing the discounted tickets?? I just looked and it's actually a HUGE savings! I was planning on upgrading to APs so my question is, can you upgrade these discounted tickets??

Thanks!

Think I found the answer to Question #2:

The "Everything Tickets" sticky said that tickets that say SPORTS (among other things) on them cannot be upgraded. When I go to the discounted tickets section (included in my registration confirmation) they are specifically calling them Sports Theme Park Tickets so I'm assuming those are them! Can anyone confirm or share experiences with these tickets? I was really hoping to get APs but for the two of us, these tickets would be almost around $150 savings! Not sure what to do.....

I answered my first question, too!! Just "registered" for 2 5k commemorative pins! YAY!!

Thanks, WalkingintheFog! That worked for me. Got registered, then went back and bought the pins. Done deal.

I can't share an experience with using those tickets, but those would be perfect for our family because the savings we'd get by purchasing them would save enough to pay for our 5 race registration fees. I did notice that the website said it was best to wait until 2 weeks before your trip to purchase the tickets--I guess because they are nonrefundable. What I'd like to know is if these tickets will still be available if I wait until August to buy them for our Sept trip.

They sell the pins at the expo. They are the exact same, or at least were in 2011, as the pins you could pre-purchase. I do believe in the past they had different pins for pre-order and expo but that wasn't the case last year. They also had bins full of them so I doubt they ran out.

I was able to purchase them the day prior to the Princess Half this year.

For the January event there were a lot of pins available even if you didn't purchase them ahead of time. The pins were the same either way so they probably figured that since the pins aren't exclusive to the people that buy them online (I do think in the past they were but not 2011) why bother.

THIS! I went back and ordered one after I'd registered for the 2011 HM because I thought that was the only way to get them. SO not the case! I'm waiting in 2012.

They sold out of pins for the Princess half BEFORE the expo this year.

Anyone have an idea as to when (or if) they'll post information about the 5K course through AK?

I don't know, but I wonder if they will use the same route that will be used for 2011 Everest Challenge ?
(click there to see that route).

lol. Guess who's recently learned about embedding links & codes!

I'm hoping they'll move Everest Challenge back to Sep/Oct as I'd love to try that 5k + obstacle course/scavenger hunt!

Just reading some of the information about the race weekend. I thought I read somewhere on last year's information that if you are unable to attend packet pick-up the day before, you will able to pick up your packet the morning of the race. That was last year when it was in the MK and you can get it at TTC before the race started. From what I'm seeing so far, it doesn't say anything about being able to do that. All the info about pack-pick up is at the expo at WWoS the day before.

With such a tight schedule as it is for my 4-day trip, I'm having a really hard time fitting this into my schedule! Luckily, I happen to be staying at a "host resort" so there sill be direct transportation to WWoS but I'm thinking it might be even quicker to take a taxi? Just not sure what to do. Anyone have any thoughts on this yet? Can you tell I'm an obsessive planner?

If you're already on a tight schedule, I'd personally spring for a taxi--sometimes it's just worth paying a few bucks to make your life easier at Disney!

Hi! This is my first 5K run! I'm a newbie and so excited to run my first ever race at Disney. I have a few questions that I'm not sure about and hoping to get a few details. THANKS IN ADVANCE!

1. Which resorts are the HOST resorts?
2. When you reference host resort pick-up, does that mean they will be picking up the runners on the morning of the race from their hotels and bringing them to the Animal Kingdom? Is there a schedule we are given?
3. Do we get a special shirt to wear in the race or can we wear whatever we like?
4. Package pick-up - what's included in your package?
5. Spectators- will they allow my family to watch me run the race? Or is the Animal Kingdom only open to runners?

THANKS!!

This is my first race too. All of the information I've gotten so far I found on the website http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/events/rundisney/wine-and-dine-half-marathon/

I'm hoping we'll get some more information soon. :thumbsup2

Hope that helps.
