2011 Dining Plan Pricing

I had one CM actually tell me that Disney does not annouce pricing for dining plan or provide a cost per person. They want us to just book the package and accept it or not. She said the dining plan prices are never made public. I am always polite to CMs who are clueless, but I did tell this one she had no idea what she was talking about.

I was also told that they could not give me per person pricing.
I'm not going to say it's true or not across the board, but ask ANY Travel Agent to break down the individual cost of ANY travel package. They won't, or can't. It's a package.

Now, this is different for several reasons. First, we can all calculate. Plus, since DVC members can purchase any Dining Plan without a package, at some point Walt Disney World would have to release actual prices, even if only through Member Services. Once that's done, it'd be all over the internet in minutes.

I know for a fact I have read on here in the past that the CMs that book reservations actually can NOT tell you the prices for all the parts. Since the dining plan is a part of a package, it books as a package, not by the parts and pieces. So, the CM can only do what you are doing... guessing on the price of each of the parts.

Sounds like the release for 2011 information has been very poorly planned on their part. ;)

This is how it has always been for package reservations. They will not itemize the package price for you.

The actual per person prices are usually released for DVC members, who do not book packages.

I did NOT ask for package itemization. As I said, I asked what the price per person for dining is. Disney has always said, it is X amount per adult per night and X amount per child per night. Who in their right mind would purchase a plan without knowing what they are paying for it?

They won't give you pricing. They won't separate the price of the dining plan from the general price of the package. Only DVC does that, since DVC members don't book packages. It usually takes some math to figure out the price of the dining plan, because Disney won't break it down for you.

You can get a package quote with the dining plan and without the dining plan, but even if you ask they won't tell you the exact individual price of the dining plan.

I think you are missing everybody's point. People want to know what the price per person is. Nobody is going to buy something without knowing what they are paying per head for food.

Disney has ALWAYS told people what the cost for the dining plan is per person per night. I don't see where anybody is asking Disney to give them a breakdown of ticket cost, dining cost and room cost - people just want to know what the dining plan per person per night cost. That is nothing different than previous years. Let's not complicate what people are asking so that we can defend Disney. ;)

The additional cost for the 2010 Dining Plan (on top of the vacation package) is $41.99 or $46.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 or $12.99 per night for children (ages 3-9). (Prices vary according to the dates of travel.)

The 2011 additional cost (on top of a regular Magic Your Way package) varies depending on the time of year:

1/1/11 - 2/16/11, 2/27/11 - 3/10/11, 5/1/11 - 6/2/11, 8/14/10 -12/22/10 is $45.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $11.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).

2/17/11 - 2/26/11, 3/11/11 - 4/30/11, 6/3/11 - 8/13/11, 12/23/11 - 12/31/11 is $47.99 per night per adult or junior (ages 10-17), $12.99 per night for children (ages 3-9).

I was wrong (that's FOUR times this week - well, really, one full time and three half times :rotfl2: ). Everybody else is correct about the QSDP, and now that I've used professional methods of calculation, it is, actually as others have correctly stated, $34.99 per adult. I apologize for my mistake.

Well, you're paying for your room, your tickets, and (if you choose) a dining plan and insurance as part of a Magic Your Way package. Again, if you ask ANY Travel Agent for a breakdown of the package components for ANY travel package, they can't, or won't, give you this information.

Now, it's relatively easy for us to calculate the individual component prices on a Walt Disney World Magic Your Way package. We know, or will know shortly, the room rates. We know the ticket prices. We know the tax rate on each of those. The package screen tells you you haven't included travel insurance.

Pricing a package first without and then with dining allows us to calculate the cost of the different dining packages. Member Services will eventually (shortly?) be providing DVC members with the a la carte pricing because they're exempt from the package requirement. But with those two exceptions, no, I wouldn't expect any CM or TA to break down the component pricing of my WDW MYW package.

The fact that people want to know isn't going to get someone from Disney to tell you. They've been told not to break the prices down like that for packages. They always are. That's not defending Disney, it's just the way it is. Some individual might give you the price, but they're not supposed to. If you ask ,they will say something like "under $46"

Once it's figured out, the unofficial websites will start posting it.

Seems like about the same amount of increas as always and is pretty much what I expected.

They give you a package price through Disney because to get the meal plans you must have a room and at least one day ticket booked. (some exceptions)

If a CM tells you they can't give you a price for the dining, then ask them to give you a room only reservation price, then a price for tickets only, then a price for a package.
Voila, they will have broken it down for you.

The prices will be released because as the PP said, DVC can buy it alone without a package.
Plus, when Disney offers free dining specials, they advertise the amount of money saved for a family when booking the package ...and THAT would be the cost for just dining.

As with every year, the prices go up a bit.
The ticket increases last week and dining increases now are all typical...same as the price of a loaf of bread at the grocery store.

By asking for the individual price of the dining plan, you did ask for package itemization (asking for a breakdown of the prices of the components of a package). They won't do that for you on a package quote, you have to figure it out yourself.

The only place Disney (not unofficial websites) is going to give out the exact individual price per night on the dining plan is through DVC Member Services.

I can find the price of the 2010 dining plan on mousemisers and mousesavers. I'm sure they will post the 2011 prices soon.

I know I am not going nuts. When ddp was released i was always told how much it was per person. I didn't always have the dis lol so i know this to be true. This is the first year they have not been able to say the ddp costs this much per person to add on

EXACTLY!!! :yay: Glad somebody gets it.

I called Member Services (DVC) and they were not even aware that the DDP has been released for 2011. Sounds like poor planning and communication on Disney's part. That is not surprising though. I will wait a few days and then call MS and ask them if they have the information.

At $46 a night, we would still save $200 on meals we were planning to have using 2010 menu prices anyhow. I am willing to bet that the prices on the menus will be increased. Still not sure that we want to pay $46pp a night though.... :upsidedow

When the menu prices go up, so do the tips!
Five years from now at an average of $4 per year increase will make it
$66. Wonder what Deluxe will be :scared1:

I thought about that. Although, the increase this year is the highest ever...I would hope they will not continue that trend. Some have speculated that this is Disney's way of reducing the number of people that purchase the dining plan....and this will eventually lead to doing away with it.

I just saw the 2011 dining plan on disney's site (from what I can tell nothing has changed but the list of restaurants and I have heard that isn't finalized until later?) however does anyone know what the new prices will be?

I just did a quick look at booking Pop for one night (Sunday/MLK weekend so a higher rate). I got $115.26 for a standard room rack rate after taxes. Then I added the delux dining for 2 adults to it and got $275.54. If you subtract the room price from the total you get $160.28 for the delux ddp for 2 adults, which averages $80 a person a night. That is a big jump from the $71.99 currently. We sometimes like to do one night AP rate (which are not out yet for that date) and add the delux ddp and use our 3 TS credits over the first 2 days, plus get our mug. Now a $16 a day increase is pretty big.

Same here, as I was always asked "Would you like to add DDP for $XX.00 pp per day? They have always asked and they have always quoted a price for the dining plan when I made my reservations.
