speaking of rates...did you see the AP rates are out!! Not that much better...but a little

Yeah! I just got an email from my TA. Not a whole lot of savings but it helps. We saved $50 on our 2 night Poly reservation, and about $375 on our BC reservation. The best part was though that we were able to add
the DDP to the first 9 days of our BC reservation. Very wierd but since
my in-laws are with us the first week and they like the buffets like Biergarten and Cape May Buffet we are doing the following:

July 14-16 Poly gv cl -no DDP just TIW
July 16-25 BC gv cl - DDP and TIW
July 25-31 BC gv cl - no DDP just TIW

DH always says his head is spinning by the time I explain our trip! The funny part is HE IS A CPA. Guess they just didn't teach "Disney Math"
in those college and grad courses!

:rotfl:love the disney math!!

sounds like you have it all figured out! The problem i have with the DDP...I feel like I need to eat it all to make it worth it...last summer we did dxddp...OMG...you could have rolled me through the parks and i came home up 5 pounds, even with all the walking and then i could not stop eating once I got home...paying for it still:eek:

we are using TIW this year...much more flexibility, especially with the lounge :)

I am with you in 2009 we stayed CL w/ DDP and it was insane. WAY too much food. In 2010 we stayed YC CL with no plan and loved it. I was satisified with much less food and only did TS 3 times the whole trip...plenty of food!!!! This summer we won a trip that included DDP so in reality I didn't pay for it so am not wasting it as I will skip desserts easily and plan to use the TS's for 2TS as I like the quality of food at Flying Fish a lot - eating there twice this time! I almost feel out of control on the DDP b/c I "paid" for it so use it!!!

We used only TIW last year and it worked out really well. DDP used to be great for us until my girls became "Disney adults". Well those Disney adults usually only order chicken nuggets! The only reason we added DDP to the first 9 days of our BC reservation is for the buffets where we HAVE to pay the adult prices. Usually we end up with a lot of extra snack credits, but since we are driving to Hilton Head after we leave Disney I'll just buy things to take with us.

Deluxe DDP would definitely kill me. I feel like I diet all year long just to be able to eat at Disney! I do love the appetizers in the lounge - those are really my splurges!!!

Can't wait until our Dis Meet!!!! We had such a good time last year. Dee has a picture up on page 1. I'm the blonde with the lime green (of course) shirt!

Oh yeah.... well thats nothing! My parents had to buy new clothes just to make it home because they ate so much on that plan! These are the same people who, when they come over to my house to eat dinner, necessitate me having to hide any "leftovers" for a second meal in ADVANCE of me serving dinner!!!! My parents are retired and my Mom doesn't cook that much anymore which results in a feeding frenzy when they come to my house for a home cooked meal.

Between my parents and my 12 y.o. son I am seriously thinking that I will have to start buying sides of beef and fields of potatos!

My husband is also no longer allowed to put the left overs away because of shrinkage as well!!!!

It seems I'm surrounded!

I love "Disney Math."

Before I get specific I have to ask? Have you checked out the disability board? As much as I recommend this wonderful group for the Epcot area I recommend the group on that board for making my trips to WDW safe and enjoyable. They can direct you to people that can really help. I do not have life threatening allergies so I do not want to misdirect you in the slightest. My allergies make me terribly sick and can ruin a vacation but that's it.

WDW is the best place for those with food allergies. I ate more than I have in weeks those couple of days because I felt so safe :cloud9:

My issue with HH was the lack of available food that I could eat - my only option was french fries and a Diet Coke. They no longer have the allergy free brand chicken tenders which are on the gluten free list from special diets.

My best recommendation for HH specifically is to contact special diets - see the disability board for contact info. When you step up to the counter and let them know you have food allergies they will call a Chef :thumbsup2

For the YC specifically I had great service from both the Yacht Club Grill and the YC lounge (name escapes me at the moment). I've also heard that Cape May (sp) buffet is great for allergies. Oh and don't forget about Beaches 'n Creme - yum and they also call a Chef for the YC/BC kitchens. Just across the water you have other options as well - especially Kouzzina by Cat Corra - Chef Dee was just awesome for breakfast!!!! Then you have the short walk to the Epcot restaurants.

I wish you a magical and safe vacation :wizard::wizard::wizard::wizard:

Thank you so much for the quick reply Minnie. This will be our third visit to Disney with food allergies. We now take annual trips to Disney in part b/c of their ability to serve people with food allergies so well. Sorry that you did not have a good experience with those two locations. I will take your advice and check out the disability board. I already have our info. in to Special Diets and am now just trying to figure out counter service. With allergies, I like to check out all locations before we leave. We always speak to either a chef or manager too.

Thanks again.

Hello TennaS

Me again. Virgin holidays are now in communications with Disney about the Garden view room, so that's good news. It should be $5.00 per night to upgrade, so I;m waiting for VH to come back to confirm that it can be done through them.

Now are there garden rooms overlooking the wedding gazebo facing Epcot, or are all of these rooms waterview? From looking at the map these would be rooms 1097 to 1087 and upwards to the other three floors. I seem to remember some discussion going back a few years that some of these were the old standard rooms, which could now be Garden View.

Hi Heatherbelle-

That is great news that a garden view is possible for you!!!

Teena will be off the boards for a few days. Her daughter is visiting from out of town and then she is staying AT THE BEACH CLUB with her family.

I'll attempt to help you out, but perhaps others might have some better info for you- First- are you staying Yacht Club or Beach Club?

The Yacht Club has rooms that look out onto the wedding gazebo. I believe at least some of these are garden view. I don't believe any of the Beach Club rooms, garden or otherwise, overlook the gazebo.

Can someone confirm?

If this is correct, then I think "wedding gazebo view" is an excellent request to make!

We are getting real close to the trip and I can't explain why, but I feel a tinge of sadness instead of utter excitement:confused3. Can't figure it out! I am the ultimate planner and I don't know if I am sad because that part is over. I am sure when this time next week roles around, I will be ecstatic but right now I feel a little melancholy. We even had snow yesterday and thought that would push into excitement, but nothing.:confused3

Kinda had the same feeling after our wedding 18years ago - I loved the planning and hated for that to be done! Guess I am a strange bird!

Anyone else ever feel this way?
Me too! I'm at a "lull" right now with everything done, so I just find more stuff to keep my occupied. Like studying maps on the drive down I95, looking for rest rooms. :rotfl2:

I don't think requesting a certain room # is very wise. You are better off requesting "prefer wedding gazebo view". While there maybe some garden view rooms that face the gazebo and Epcot, I am pretty sure the majority of them are water view. If you ask for a specific room, and that room is unavailable, you may not even get a view of the gazebo or even nearby. Good luck!

We are so close now I feel like I "have" to do something. I've even been going over our ADRs yet again wondering if I should try to change something just to make me feel better.:rotfl: Only 15 more days to go until we leave for the airport. :cheer2:

Robyn,

You could use those extra snack credits on those cute new boxes of candy I've seen - they look like movie theater candy boxes. Have cute sayings - would make a cute small gift, too.

I am also looking forward to the meet. I've done this before when we've gone cruising. My DH thinks its nuts, but on one of our cruises, we made terrific friends and had a great time with doing shore excursions. Still keep in touch, too. :yay:

I get it! The planning is almost as fun as the trip! Two things help:

1) Our three boys always change their minds about something shortly before the trip, providing me with another planning task - and that late in the game, it's usually a good challenge! One of my favorites was right before DL when our oldest (who had deemed World of Color "lame" at the time I could book a WOC dining reservation) decided it looked really cool less than 48 hours before arrival. So I had to come up with a plan to get us to WOC with minimal wait and a good view. (It worked, thanks to the DL boards!)

2) Starting to plan the next trip (either Disney or non-Disney) before we take the one that's coming up. :)

We LOVE the combination of TIW and the club lounge! Our TIW card expires a week from Sunday - I'll really miss it this summer during our pre- and post-cruise ADRs!

Same here - our two older boys are pre-teen "Disney adults." One eats mac and cheese/chicken nuggets and the other gets soup/salad/appetizer or shares an entree with me. I justify our fixed price meals (we still do Cape May, Ohana, Tusker House and Garden Grill) by focusing on the time savings of not standing in line to meet characters in the parks.

Congrats on applying the AP discount to your BC CL GV! Nice savings! Yay!

They don't have the tenders there any longer? Darn it!!! I was counting on those for the one evening I don't have a dinner ADR. Maybe if enough of us complain to Special Diets then they'll do something about it. There should be SOMEWHERE at the resort where people with allergies can get CS food to eat. We shouldn't have to pay room service prices just to be able to get food without sitting down in a TS restaurants. I'll definitely ask Special Diets about chicken tender availability when we're closer to our August trip.

You can order food to go from Beaches & Cream, right? I suppose a bunless burgers from there will suffice (my kids can't eat the allergy buns) if we can't get the tenders. I'd rather be able to order from HH though because I would bet it'll be much faster to place an order there than waiting in line to order at B&C. Our lunch ADR that day is at 12:25 so assuming finishing around 2:30 (with allergies it takes SOOO much longer to eat because of waiting on our food; not complaining in any way, just explaining) that means we won't want dinner until after 6pm so I'm assuming huge wait times at B&C at that point. Sigh.....

My 2 boys will be "adults" in Disney's eyes too. All I can say is THANK YOU for free dining this year!! :worship:

Hi experts!

My brother is hoping to book a king room at the YC or BC for his honeymoon in October. I know there are very few King rooms. Does anyone know if there are more at YC or BC? Does it help to book club level? Are there any King rooms even on club level?

Any suggestions for romantic ideas not involving a King room at the YC/BC?

Thanks!

:welcome: willsea! Great place for a first post.

Sounds like a great trip planned (and planning is part of the fun). Only advice is go back and skim through these couple hundred pages and write down anything you want to remember. (Going back and trying to find it is torture.) And read page 1!

I'll drink to that! And as a relative newbie myself I can vouch for the fact that if you're even considering BC/YC this is definitely the place to park it for a while and have a good long read.

Oh, absolutely!! We are at 39 days out, and I've done just about all the pre-planning I think I can do without having every spare microsecond lined up (and you all know what a house of cards THAT can become). There's just nothing left to do but keep looking at the boards for some new tidbit that will recharge the anticipation, and fortunately there always seems to be something here that can do just that! (Thanks, everyone for providing that BTW).
