If you are not doing the dining plan then club level might be worth it for the free breakfast, snacks AND LIQUOR!! If you are doing just a table service and a counter service meal then the club level might be worth it for the free breakfast. Keep in mind that if you are an eggs and meat type of breakfast person then the continental breakfast provided by club level might not fit the bill.
Now onto the room. Oh to be young and in love again WITHOUT CHILDREN!! How much time do you plan on spending in the room? Let's say you were coming back to the hotel mid day for a break from the heat. You are either going to be napping (or "napping" for the honeymooners) or at the pool. The hotels also have rooms off the beaten path where you can chill with a book, like the solarium in Beach Club and what ever there is at the Yacht Club.
So it comes down to how important the view is versus the food benefits on club level.
Only you know what your preferences are and what dining options you have chosen so far, so you will have to decide.
This is basically the thought process that I went through when considering club level. We opted to go full monty on the dining plan with 3 table service meals so that we could experience as many restaurants as we liked for table service meals. One of the misconceptions about this plan is that you HAVE to eat an Appetizer, Entree AND dessert at each meal. Personally I would order each, but more to try each one than to completely devour each one.
The benefit of having a relatively quiet place to sit, mid day when we are wiped out from the heat was worth it's weight in gold (and around my waist!). This was the determining factor in how we chose our dining plan versus club level consideration.
Of course you can trek back to the hotel and eat in the club level lounge, but I have a 12 year old boy who can amaze me with his NEED for FOOD, MASS quantities of FOOD! at any given moment.
When he was almost 5 we took him to Disney World for the first time. It was in September and it was HOT so we did the "back at the hotel for a nap and then out again at night" plan. The only trouble was that this boy of mine DID NOT NAP! I knew he HAD to NAP (and so did I) so here's what I did.
I closed all the drapes, turned off every light and the TV, and for 45 minutes I listened to "I'm not tired, I don't want to go to sleep". 45 minutes of this mind you. I played dead so I could keep an eye on him. My husband wasn't playing, he was really dead (tired) and was passed out cold! Then finally it happened! The boy had fallen asleep!
About an hour and a half later it was time to get him up. It was like SATAN had inhabited the body of my dear little boy. He was beyond crabby and he did not want to get up. We quickly figured out to lob cupcakes and donuts at him, like grenades, because his blood sugar was low and that's what was making him crabby. We couldn't get too close and hand him a donut because my husband almost lost a finger when he got to close to his mouth!
OK so now this dear sweet boy is 12 and growing like a weed. I was eating a Philly cheese steak one day and this thing is about 15 inches long. I had only gotten through a quarter of mine when DS said to me "Mom, just so you know, I'm STILL HUNGRY!!!!!" I turned around and he had finished his and he was eyeing mine! I lobbed the other half at him like a grenade and I ran out of the room so that I could keep my other half.
So you see the dining plan was our primary consideration versus club level.
When they get cranky lob food at them. You can diet when you're DEAD!
I hope this helps,
Marlton Mom
