You guys are killing me!!!
Dee, did you know there are new 2011 Hidden Mickey Pins just released ... called DeeBees ... they are cute too!

Maybe they are going to make you one of those victorian swimming costumes with the leggings...;)

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow too :grouphug:

Sundays are always our busiest days!!

Hi Teena,

If Sundays are the busiest, does it pay to get there early and avoid the crowds?

A little background info: I'll be attending a conference at the Buena Vista Palace Hotel Aug 3 - 7. The rest of my family is joining me on the 7th and we're staying on rented points at the BCV Aug 7 - 17. Their flight should get in around 10 or 11ish in the morning.

I could easily go over to the BCV 1st thing in the morning to check in if it would save a long line later when I meet my family. I know the room may not be ready - I'd just prefer to spend less time checking in, if possible. I could always go back to the conference - but it's been my experience that the last day is the least productive - mostly awards, etc... So I don't mind missing that last morning (if necessary; and maybe I could even be back before it started???). If I couldn't get back to the Buena Vista, I know I would enjoy exploring the resort before the family arrived via ME.

What time can I begin the check-in process? I'll be doing on-line check-in before we arrive.

Thank you for all the info/assistance you provide! You rock!

Thanks for the quick reply, considering changeing our dates and/or online check-in

At it's worse, it's rare to have more than 6 people ahead of you in line. And I'll be totally honest, I think it's faster to NOT do an on-line check-in.

Yes, definitely, if you check in between 7 and 8 AM, it will be fast and easy!! And again, whether or not you do an on-line check-in, at our resort, it really doesn't make much of a difference.

Hi Gretchen! Teena is offline so I will take a stab at this as I have stayed at BC and BCV often.

The earliest you can check in is 6 am (and yes...I have done it a couple of times when changing resorts and the rest of the family is still sleeping!). You could certainly go check in and go back to the conference without any problem. Allow about 10 minutes each way driving during low traffic times...15 minutes in heavier traffic.

Your room most likely will not be ready, as BCV runs at nearly 100% occupancy every day of the year. I personally would not do online check in as I don't think it saves too much if any time.

There is plenty to do and explore if you choose to skip the last day of your conference and wait instead for your family at the BC/BCV. Two of my favorite places to sit and wait for family are in the main lobby at the BC and the Solarium, which is a nice, bright/sunny sitting room where you can look out and actually watch the ME busses pull in and deliver guests...you could have your family get off the bus and meet you there easily as all they have to do is get off the bus and go to their left to enter the Solarium.

Hope this helps a bit :)

Thanks, Dee, for all of your hard work on this thread and to Teena for your expert advice! :thumbsup2 I have learned so much from all of you and cannot wait for our first stay at the BC!:yay:

A question about the lockers/showers in the Ship Shape Health Club. I was excited to learn these would be available on check-in and check-out day. Plan to check-out, hit SAB for a few hours, shower and then head home. Is there a fee for the lockers? Do I need to bring my own lock, soap, towels? Also, will my children be allowed into this area even though they are not old enough to officially be in the workout area.

TIA:goodvibes

We've done this lots of times when we had a late flight home.

You do not have to bring anything of your own (they have towels and soap), no charge for the lockers and kids are allowed into the shower/change area.

PIXARMOM - HAVE A WONDERFUL TRIP!!

Awesome! Thanks so much! :cool1:

Thank you Teena and bzzelady! Can't tell you how much I appreciate the info!
Will definitely skip on-line check in and arrive early.
Am so looking forward to this.
Muchas Gracias!

Now my question: the footpath is from Beach Club to Epcot's World Showcase. How does that work for ropedrop? Are guests moved to Future World or do they wait until the ropedrop ceremonies are over? Basically, what I want to know is how rope drop operates if I walk to Epcot in the morning.

That's a great question, and definitely FAQ-worthy! I'll add the response to the front, but I need some help. WHERE: Is the "rope" at the entrance of UK or is it at the entrance of Future World?

Guests who enter EPCOT through the International Gateway will be held at (WHERE???) until the park opening time.

Usually, you will arrive at Soarin' either at the same time or just a minute or so after those who enter through the main gates.

There have been reports of guests from the IG occasionally being allowed to enter EPCOT a minute or two before the official opening.

If you have a pre-opening breakfast scheduled at Akershus Royal Banquet Hall, you will provide your name and/or reservation to a CM: WHERE??? and then proceed through Mexico to Norway.

How's that for a not-really-an-answer answer?

We did both of these scenerios this past summer.
1. Scenerio one- to get to rope drop you check in at IG just as you normally do. As you walk up there will be cast members stationed along the way (bridge to France being #1) to guide you through UK and Canada. After you pass the last little cart coming out of Canada you are directed onto the small pathway that leads toward the fountain of nations. There you will experience a real rope with CM's and characters milling around. Across from you, maybe fourty yards are the guest that arrived from the front entrance.

After the countdown and rope is removed you are then walked toward Soarin in an orderly fashion. No bgger advantage from front or back.

2. Scenerio two- We had 805 reservations at Akershus. We arrived much earlier than we did on rope drop day. I had made the ADRs the night before on the computer (@10;30) and hence had no printed ressie sheet. The guy at IG gate didnt have me on his list. He said no problem. Made a couple calls and we were on our way. Walked basically same route through UK and Canada but when we go to main entrance to WS we just continued around past Mexico to our breakfast. Fun being almost alone in WS and greeting the CM's as they start their day.

Hi everyone! Just back on Saturday from the most fabulous trip! A quick intro to my family...Me, DH, DS (12, almost 13 and oh so full of 'teenager-ness') DD 10 who has CP and is in a wheelchair. I love that there is so much for her to do at Disney. From the moment we walked up to that ME counter, just about everyone went above and beyond to make her feel special. We were welcomed at the BC with a wonderful surprise and were personally escorted up to our room, which was draw dropping (tear filled and hopping up and down as well) gorgeous! Not only did we have a full balcony, we had a daybed and a view of Storm along Bay, the lagoon and the Boardwalk. Oh, and it was on the 5th floor:goodvibes MAJOR PIXIE DUST!!!!!!

On Sunday we had the wonderful pleasure of meeting Teena. It was so nice to see you in person Teena, you are certainly one of the jewels of the Beach Club and I'm thankful we were able to connect in person.

I loved the location of the resort, the walk to Epcot was super convenient, as well as the Boardwalk. We ended up taking the boat over to HS, a pretty & relaxing ride. No problems with bus service, the drivers were all great with the wheelchair as well.

We ate dinner at Cape May and Yachtsman (yumm! my dh and I are split on the Lecellier debate, but that is another board!) And we had breakfast at the Captains Grill and lunch at Hurricane Hannahs. My dd and I split the dinner at Yachtsman and burger and fries at Hurricane Hanna's. Serving sizes were more than enough. We did buffets at the other two.

Although the slide was down for our whole trip we did enjoy the pool and hot tubs throughout the week, we had perfect weather...mid 70's to low 80's. No rain and no meltdowns were had by any of us! A truly magical vacation. It is a beautiful resort and I want to say a big THANKS!!! to
Teena and Dee, and everyone else for all their knowledge and help on this board.

Hello everyone! We are heading to BC June 25 thru July 2!! :goodvibes So very excited and a little nervous. As you can see by my signature, we're WL people. Can't find a single thing wrong with that resort and we're a little nervous to try something new. But...dh has always been dying to try out BC and we had dinner at Cape May on our last trip which just made him want to try it even more. My children will be 12 and 16 on this trip (actually this trip is one week after ds turns 16) and they are both wanting to try something new. We are major resort people. Our days usually consist of park at rope drop, head back to resort around noon, swim until around 5pm or so and head back out for the evening. Because of this we're thinking it can't get any better than SAB...right? :thumbsup2 Not big fans of Epcot, but I'm hoping to try a different approach with that park this time since we are so close. But we are huge fans of DHS!! Looking forward to this thread in the months leading up to our trip, and meeting Teena. Great job on the info guys! :worship:

Come with us, drink the Koolaid, and everything will be fine!

We had another WL devotee, LovintheLodge who stayed at the Y&B last summer and had a great time- haven't seen them around here in awhile, but hopefully we can get a comparison of the two resorts from their perspective.

This is a great resort for just hanging around the pool- great options for swimming and other activities. I'm trying to post our activities schedule from July, but running into technical difficulties.

I love being able to walk to EPCOT around 8:50, watch Illuminations from the France/UK bridge, then back to my room in less than 10 minutes!
