Just checking in one more time for missions! I won't have internet access while we're at Disney, so I'll report back when we return! :wizard:

Have a wonderful trip! :wizard:

Dee, so sorry to hear of the water! :scared1: Yikes, you just aren't getting a break this winter, are you?

Hello everyone, I've been reading this thread and getting loads of great information, so thanks so much for that.

From reading however, I've realised that there is the new categorisation of rooms to include garden views. I booked a standard view last year when garden view was not an option.

So, seeing on here that there is now a new category and my standard view is almost definitely now going to be car park/roof view, I have tried calling my agent to get a quote to upgrade to a garden view.

Now, I am in the UK so I don't know if anyone can help or advise me, but my travel agent told me they only have standard and water view rooms on their system and even called Disney (Disney UK I presume they have to deal with) who told them that although garden views do exist they're not on their system either!!

So, basically I was told I can't book one of these room and have to be content with a standard view or pay an additional £400 ($650) for a water view which we really can't afford or justify having stretched overselves for the Beach Club as a huge family treat.

This seems so unfair!!! That only some guests are getting the option to
upgrade to a garden view whilst others have to stick with standard or pay the huge difference for a water view.

I know this isn't a problem which will affect most of you, but you all seem SO knowledgable and helpful, I thought I'd run it by you and see if there were any tips for ways around this.

Thanking you in anticipation.

Hi,
I had excatly the same problem - who are you booked with? I'm booked with Complete Orlando who were great in the end and managed to get me a garden view room. Basically it seems like the UK tour operators signed teheir contracts with Disney before the garden view was a category. Also as this change to the rooms was only made in January even Disney's central reservations seem to be confused about it! We were told the rooms didn't exist, then they did but we would lose our dining plan to get one then finallt they agreed to change it! This was largely due to my nagging Complete Orlando who were great at nagging Disney until we got the result!
I really hope you manage to sort it out,
Claire

Just wanted to report that I talked to chimo2U in the lobby Sunday. She liked CL and especially the oatmeal. She wasn't too happy about the location of the BC and thinks you walk alot more by staying at the BC compared to the Animal Kingdom Lodge where she has stayed in the past. I told her I didn't quite understand that, that I personally felt you walked less by staying at the BC especially if you were going to Epcot alot and she has I believe four dinners planned there. She was thinking about moving over to Animal Kingdom Lodge and leaving the BC because of the walking. She said her legs really hurt. I'm really sorry she's not happy about the walking but I still don't understand it. As I said before, I always found by staying at the BC, you saved walking. That walk from the countries to the buses or monorail was a long one and the walk from the countries to the BC is so much shorter. JMO

Thanks Natbensmom to the link to Claireybears questions, it seems she did have just the same difficulty as me.
I think I may try my take agent again, if she can solve this maybe I can too.

If not I must just resign myself to the poor view and not let it daemon my spirits or spoil things for me, we are not in the room that much anyway!

It just seems unfair that some visitors have the option whilst others don't!

Thanks again for your help though I really appreciate it.

Hi Claireybear, we are booked with Kenwood travel. I've just called them and told them that I know someone who booked with Complete Orlando and they managed to sort it out for them!

A bit naughty I know, but I do kind of 'know of' someone. You!

I thought that may get them looking into it a bit more carefully for me. They are going to call me back, I'll let you know how I get on.

That's fine by me - I really hope they sort it out for you - I was so frustrated with it - when are you going? Good luck,

Thanks for the sympathy! It seems like the water has stopped. My husband adjusted the gutter yesterday, so hopefully that will solve the problem. Schools are in session this morning and the sun is shining and there is only one minor storm expected for the week. :woohoo:

Thanks for the thread! DH and I were just at WDW for our first adults only trip and it was great. We stayed at AKV for one night then the rest was off property at our other vacation ownership. We had such a great time exploring all the different resorts and finding out new information! We bought into DVC just this passed DEC and haven't been able to use our points yet and booked this trip before we bought so it was great timing to do some research. When we left we had a list of our favs ranked and since visiting them all we have offically changed our list and Beach Club has climbed to NO. 2!!! Anyways we made our first set of ressies for our upcoming trip and plan to stay three days at BC and 7 days at AKV. I cant wait I just love being on property!! :cool1:

I thought i'd just say thanks for giving us this great thread so I can let my girls get as excited as we are. (DH is even worse than me, im pretty sure he dreams in Disney) Our Dates are September 17th thru 26th could you add us to the September list?

Thanks again and keep up the great work! :thumbsup2

This thread is killing me!! We are making our first trip to YC next month and reading this thread is making me giddy with anticipation. :woohoo: Keep the YC/BC info coming people.

Hopefully she was just having a bad day...I hope that things are starting to get better for her. Sometimes we forget how stressful a vacation can be, especially one that is physically stressful with all the walking that you need to do to get around all the parks.

Usually I use my upcoming Disney trip to motivate me to work out and increase my endurance. You have to remember that a Disney parks vacation involves long days of power walking to get to an attraction and then the standing and walking from place to place in the parks.

The last trip that we took in December of 2009 I was not "in shape" for due to health issues and let me tell you it took it's toll! For that 5 day trip I was up early for rope drops and then I was staying very late in the parks at night taking pictures. At about lunch time on day 3 I lost my will to go on and went back to the hotel to crash until dinner! :scared1: My family was amazed that I had finally given OUT!

As a contrast, the trip before that in 2008 I was walking at the gym and giving an elliptical trainer a run for it's money. I was like the energizer bunny and my family HATED me! :sad2:

So far with the exception of a couple of colds my health seems to be holding out. With all the snow we've been having I have removed the laundry that's been hanging on the Nordic Trak at home and I've been giving that a go. As soon as it gets a little warmer I'll be walking the streets of Marlton with my Ipod playing all my favorite and very outdated hits of the eighties :sad2:

Don't forget to stretch, especially your calf muscles and hamstrings and start walking at least 2 months before your trip so that you can give your tendons, muscles and bones time to adapt to the increase in physical activity. Start slowly and steadily increase your walking times. You really don't need to join a gym or take a class. Walking really is the best exercise there is and it's FREE!

Now if you're in your twenties and you're reading all this, you simply must stop laughing long enough to realize that one day, very soon you will be middle aged and out of shape.

One day you may find yourself older and at the parks..... Perhaps you will stop to rest and see all of us old gals lapping you in the parks and you'll know it's not because of that nasty coffee they serve in Disney World.... it's because we've been bopping down the street to the hits of the 80's, walking our bunions off before our park trip!

So there ya go! Get busy!!

Hi
I booked last week on the UK site and had this problem as well. The CM I talked to said he'd put in a request for a garden/courtyard view anyway. I also asked about CL - and those rooms were not available to people booking on the UK site either. strange. So I'm crossing my fingers that its just the old system and the "standard " rooms offered in reservation system are a mix of the 2 new categories standarrd and garden!!

I had first booked a garden view on the US site for the end of Aug with free dining but had to change my dates. thought I might have to cancel altogether because the rate at the beginning of Aug on the US reservation site was out of our budget - but since I live in France I was eligible to book off the UK site which offers free dining starting Aug 1 for roughly the same price- so all is well - I just hope we don't get a crappy view as I was willing to pay the extra for the garden view!!

Garden or roof top view - I can't wait to stay ant the BC!!

We'll be staying at the BC 11/18-11/26/2011 can we get added to the November guest list? Thanks for the hard work on this thread by the way...this November will be our first stay at the BC and the information is SO helpful!

Hi Nannette! Could you add us for November? TIA!

Hey Bookgirl,

What type of room are you trying to book? I found a regular room (4 people) available at Beach Club, Yacht Club and Beach Club Villas for every week in September under the fall special offer. Where are you looking? HTH.

hmmm I was going from the link on the main page...I wonder if it knows I've already got a room since I automatically sign in. Oh it's BCV 1 bedroom. Okay going back again to look.
