So happy to hear the good news regarding the pathology report. I've been thinking about you all week, hoping and praying things went well. I am sure Bob is so relieved that he is more than happy to scratch your back and/or put cream on it...haha. You take it easy and rest up.

Oh...just read your second post about resort merchandise!!! I totally forgot to mention it on my exit survey, but I tell ya...if they sold it last summer, we would have bought it! Okay, now I really need a return trip. BTW...we did the exit survey and I also did the survey through the website sent by BC post card. Did you and Pete ever get feedback? I hope so as I specifically mentioned both of you! BC is lucky to have you guys.

love ya, hugs and prayers from my family :grouphug:

Hi guys ... I'm actually sitting up and on the computer. I can't thank you enough for all the prayers, pixie dust, thoughts, wishes, etc. you have all sent. It really helped me get through these past few months... what an ordeal.

Dr. McLaughlin called an hour ago and all pathology is back and I'm in the clear. Just need to get through the next few days of pain. I will get to meet with the radiation people next week and Dr. McLaughlin says I can start radiation on 4/25. So I guess starting that week I'll be working Saturdays and Sundays for six weeks instead of Sundays and Mondays since radiation will be every day Monday through Friday. Dr. McLaughlin said I don't need to come back to the Mayo for six months although she'll see me before that since they are coming to the Beach Club for their first Disney vacation.

I'm hurting more than the first surgery but she said she went all the way to the muscle this time so that's probably why. And this time I itch ... especially my back. They did a back block again too but I didn't itch like this last time. I'm driving poor Bob nuts with rubbing cream on my back. At least once I got home I had my back scratcher so I wasn't bugging him every five minutes to scratch my back. I'm using my pain meds and ice like crazy ... hopefully I'll start feeling better tomorrow. I am planning on working Sunday and Monday.

So hit me with those questions again and I'll try to keep the answers coming!

Thanks again for everything ... you all really helped me get through everything!!!

Sorry to hear about the pain and itch but very glad that they got everything out! It does get better and soon this will be a distant memory! :thumbsup2

Oh my ... I forgot to post this before I left for the Mayo Clinic. One of the merchandise managers told me something on Sunday that is sooooo wonderful. First, you all need congrats on this ... your writing letters and mostly the exit surveys (the one you do the morning you check out in the lobby of the resort and the other one that some people get sent to them via email or USPS a few weeks after getting home) are the things that did it!!! RESORT SPECIFIC MERCHANDISE IS COMING BACK!

Great!!!! Cant wait till December. I wonder what they will have. I'd love to get a BC shirt.

Dare I dream of an official Beach Club "Speedo" bathing suit for my husband? He is always forgetting to pack his bathing suit and I'd like to teach him a lesson for once!

Good job!!! And please remember on the morning you are checking out, please, please, please come down to the lobby between 7 AM and 8 AM and look for the survey people (at the BC they normally stand across from the concierge desk or outside near the airline check-in) and tell them you want to take the exit survey. They make a huge difference. If there is something that you didn't like or something that you did like - here's your chance to be heard. These surveys are gone over with a microscope by everybody. The surveys make a difference!
Awesome!! I filled out an email survey after our last trip to YC, and got a response back. I had a strange occurence that happened when I booked our stay at the YC. Within a few days, I received a call from Disney (I checked the # and it was authentic). They welcomed us and wanted to know my kids favorite character, stating that an autographed photo would be waiting in our room. I was ecstatic. Well, flash forward to our stay, and nope, nothing. I went to the front desk and inquired about this, and the CM seemed perplexed. I said I was only disappointed because I didn't make the call, it was DISNEY. Well, within the hour, a knock at our room came, and my boys received their autographed photos of Mickey Mouse. Wow. I certainly didn't expect it really after that, and I told the whole story on the survey. I was thanked and the CM that emailed me told me that she was going to forward it to the GM at the YC. :goodvibes

Oh, my! That sounds quite lovely. I'll have to save up for that for my husband too. Hoping the logo is strategically placed of course... :rolleyes1

Teena, so glad you got such great news! I'm afraid we'll miss you on our trip in May. We check in on Monday 5-9-11 and check out on Friday. We'll catch you again next time.:goodvibes Just take care of yourself.

The news about the resort merchandise is wonderful!!!!!!!!!! I still have a very old BC beach towel and a YC t-shirt. Now I can get new ones!:cool1:

Teena, so glad you got some good news!
Please take it easy and listen to your body, so you can really heal. I helped my dad through 5 years of radiation and chemo (lung cancer) and I know that everyone's situation is totally different, but I found that the doctors really underestimated how long it takes to heal. Ask the nurses - they'll give you the real scoop! So take the pain meds, and sleep, sleep ,sleep when you need to. Everyone wants to see you back at work brightening up the Beach Club lobby, but please don't rush it, we want you healthy most of all!!!!!!!
Glad to see you back on the computer keeping us company.:goodvibes
I hope you have smooth sailing from here on out!

To my fellow thespian:

It took me four days and about 10 hours, but I finally read through all 2500+ posts. I never dreamed there'd be so much to read about! And I never got bored once!

Now that I'm caught up, I'm hoping that the questions I'll be asking from now on will not have already been covered. That disclaimer aside, I commence:

Is there a separate thread on DIS that defines all the various abbreviations I've run into? 99%+ of them are pretty intuitive (BCV = Beach Club Villas, for instance), but I admit to being stumped on two: "RAC" and "IPO". I think the first one has something to do with Magical Express, which we won't be using since we're renting a car at MCO, and the second in this context doesn't mean Initial Public Offering...

Wow- that's some accomplishment going through all these pages!

Here is the link to the post with the abbreviations. It is a sticky on the "Welcome to the DIS" forum. YW (You're Welcome)

During my exploration of this thread I remember reading a couple of things about personal flotation and SAB, but could someone refresh my memory about things like tubes and pool noodles? For example, if I were to want to float along on the lazy river, would I need to rent a tube or could I buy one at the Winn-Dixie and bring it in? If it's the former, I think the rental was $10 per day. Correct? TIA.

You can use a noodle that you purchased at Winn-Dixie, but not a tube. The only tubes adults are permitted to use in SAB are the rentals ($3/hour or $10/day). Info is on Page 1 so you probably saw it 4 1/2 days ago.

Yeah Teena!!! That is wonderful news!!!! This is on it's way out of you!!! Wonderful news...

Steve Trek, RAC is a great service for most of us who fly and check bags. You do not need to use Magical Express to use it. We always get a rental car, too. Absolutely love RAC. Here's a great thread which explains it:

Teena, hooray about resort specific merchandise. Now we all have to buy it so it continues to be stocked!

Teena - I am thrilled for you and Bob and your wonderful news!

Now I can get back (pretty soon) to pestering you about such mundane things as which cl rooms are gv and which are standard!!

I am definitely glad to see the resort specific merchandise coming back.

Hope you are feeling even better tomorrow!

Hey TeenaS, glad you got good news.

Here's a tip - don't know if it will help you, but I'll pass it along anyway -

If you need to put something on your back (medication, cream, whatever) and you don't have someone handy to help you, put it on a rubber spatula.

The kind you use to scrape the bowl when you're baking brownies, not the kind you use to flip pancakes.

The spatula should let you reach anywhere on your back.

A nurse told me this when they did allergy testing on my back. If you're allergic to something, your back itches like crazy after the testing.

I know this isn't Yacht/Beach Club related. But if it helps you, it helps everyone who stays at the Beach Club and gets to see you!

For what it's worth, I had radiation 2 years ago. Here's how the doctor described it:

You know how you come home from the beach, feeling fine, but tired? You're going to the beach for 30 days in a row.

Expect to be VERY tired after a while. (I fell asleep at a celebration dinner in NYC-- one I looked forward to for month. Out cold, pretty much, at the table.)

But beyond that, I had very few issues. (I did have to go to work braless for a week. Have I mentioned that I was 50 years old, and that I teach in a coed high school???: Ah, yes, good times. :) )

If you get the chance, pick up some Aquaphor; I got it OTC with lotions and creams at CVS. Use it at the very first sign of any sort of burn.

You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

Since I can only post a poll in a new thread I will have to do my poll this way...

If you think the spatula will do a better job of scratching Teena's back, post SPATULA!

If you think Bob will do a better job of scratching Teena's back, post BOB!

Remember this is all in fun. Bob won't really be fired if the spatula wins!
