Teena:
I am so excited to read your great news! You will remain in our prayers.
Something that works really well for itching is Aveeno Oatmeal Bath. Just sprinkle some in some warm water and have Bob wash your back. It feels wonderful and so soothing to the skin. The relief should last at least a couple hours. I had a severe allergic reaction to pison ivy (eyes even swelled shut) and this was the only thing that gave me some relief. Also, Walmart has a very soft bristle back brush made of natural bamboo that should work very well to apply lotion or cream and scratch your back. Pixie dust to heal and grow stronger.

For what it's worth, I had radiation 2 years ago. Here's how the doctor described it:

You know how you come home from the beach, feeling fine, but tired? You're going to the beach for 30 days in a row.

Expect to be VERY tired after a while. (I fell asleep at a celebration dinner in NYC-- one I looked forward to for month. Out cold, pretty much, at the table.)

But beyond that, I had very few issues. (I did have to go to work braless for a week. Have I mentioned that I was 50 years old, and that I teach in a coed high school???: Ah, yes, good times. :) )

If you get the chance, pick up some Aquaphor; I got it OTC with lotions and creams at CVS. Use it at the very first sign of any sort of burn.

You remain in our thoughts and prayers.

That's a very good point. I scheduled my injections (radio-immuno) on Fridays, because we found out very quickly I pretty much slept for 48 hours afterwards.

Granted, I did not have breast cancer, so I can't *exactly* speak to this. I just know that my body wanted sleep, and dag nab it, it got it ;)

I had a HORRIBLE allergic reaction at the injection site, and for some reason, aloe (100%) gel worked great at stopping it. Teena, you could put Bob to work with that! (There you go, my vote!);)

Bob gets my vote. :goodvibes

Great tip though, Best Aunt. Need to remember that.

Congrats on your path report Teena :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

The resort merchandise was the only tiny negative on our trip last summer - though the many positives way out weighed that one.... BUT to have it come back - really that is terrific my mom will be thrilled :cool1:

WHEN is resort merchandise due back????? By this summer?

Dare I dream of an official Beach Club "Speedo" bathing suit for my husband? He is always forgetting to pack his bathing suit and I'd like to teach him a lesson for once!

Marlton Mom

You know, I thought it might be nice to run into you down at the YC/BC this year....but.... on second thought....Speedo. Shudder.
:rotfl2:

Regarding resort specific merchandise, she did not know time frame but it was definitely on its way back. If she knows its coming, to me that means it would be probably be soon.

Long time lurker here! We just switched from POR to the Beach Club and will be there May 29 to June 6! This trip is extra special as it is our son's Wish Trip from the Sunshine Foundation of Canada and we will also be celebrating his 9th birthday. I am looking forward to reading along and getting to know everyone!!

Hello! I'm late in welcoming you here...and not a long time Beach Club fan as we only just returned from our first ever stay - and it was wonderful! I just wanted to give you a "shout out" from another Canadian Wish Trip family. Our son was granted a wish from Starlight Starbright in 2008 when he was 10. It was a magical trip. Have you visited the Wish Tripper thread here (over in the DISabilities thread: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2626769

There is a wonderful community of Wish Trip families waiting there to help you plan your trip...and they are every bit as friendly as the gang here!

Teena :cheer2: Yay! great news on your surgery. Take it easy, and allow your body to heal. Don't rush back into work if you're not up to it.
Hope the itching goes away soon. Aloe is great for healing. May be good for the radiation too. I had Radiation, and I felt a bit tired, so rest when you need it. Also I got a mild sunburn. Aloe works well. And the doctor may recommend something for you. Powder on the area to keep it dry. Corn Starch. Johnson & Johnson makes some for babies in the shaker container, like regular baby powder. You may have seen it. What you don't use you can pass on to Peanut :)
And you may want to get a comfy stretchy sports bra with no wires. I got one of those soft formless bras you slip on over-head.

glad to see you back! Someone needs to keep that marlton mom in check,:laughing: BC Speedos??? EEK!

Resort Specific items :yay::yay::yay: Sooooo happy to hear they are bringing it back. Hope it's for all resorts. Great news! No Speedos, please!

CLAIR

I hear you on wanting to try BC. Sorry you are having to switch down to standard but if there is no discount on CL I totally understand and agree!!! Having said that, I too was not a huge fan of new YC decor until I SAW it in person. I was really skeptical of the pics and much preferred the BC look....HOWEVER in person it is gorgeous.....I love it! JUST SAYIN.......;)

Teena, glad to hear the good news, both the Doctor's report and the Merchandising report. You just keep feeding us the good news and we'll keep feeding you the good wishes for a smooth recovery. Bob with the spatula has my vote (that was an option, wasn't it?).

Teena, so happy to hear the good news!!!!!

Does anyone know if they still offer Bounceback rates at YC/BC?

Teena,
So gald all is well!!! I hope your itchiness and soreness go away quickly. Be sure and follow the Dr.'s orders (as hard as that can be for women to do!!)

Tracy, so sorry to hear about your son's hand. I hope he is not in a lot of pain and is able to enjoy the trip. If you get a chance, let us know later today how it is going.

Sending pixie dust!

My son's hand is in a cast and we're all ready to go! The Dr. was nice enough to use the waterproof material so that he can get it wet if he wants. He's supposed to be careful and not twist his fingers. He's 16 and won't listen to any advice from me... here's to hoping that we don't need to find a dr there!

Teena... I hope to see you Sunday or Monday!

Thanks everyone for all the information the past months.. I'm going to try to remember it all... Grey Goose Slushies are at the top of the list!! :cool1:

Have a fantastic trip! I have a 12 year old and I know exactly what you mean about the not listening to advice...

If you do need a doctor, they have information at the checkin desk, as well as the phone number for Turner Drugs, a pharmacy that delivers to Disney resorts.

Teena Welcome back and congratulation on your good news. Feels good to get that 'stuff' out of your body doesn't it. It was ten years ago this month my wife had her surgery.....So ten years cancer free! Now that's an anniversary! You take care of yourself and don't overdo!

Now on the resort specific merchandise. Yes I will accept some of the credit! We did three exit survey's in January. I wrote emails, USPS letters and phone calls! Disney actually called me and left a message with my wife that basically said "Stop. We understand. You want resort merchandise." :)

ocalla On the Live Report and Countdown thread the Murphy's are presently at BC. If you go there and ask I feel like she could answer if no one here can. Good luck!

My vote is for Bob to keep scratching your back with his fingers, then for him to use the spatula to make up a batch of brownies for the two of you.

Since I can only post a poll in a new thread I will have to do my poll this way...

If you think the spatula will do a better job of scratching Teena's back, post SPATULA!

If you think Bob will do a better job of scratching Teena's back, post BOB!

Remember this is all in fun. Bob won't really be fired if the spatula wins!

~ Marlton Mom

That's a hard one. Does Bob bite his fingernails? If so, then my answer is no. Ouch! Otherwise, nothing is better than a man scratching your back.... :upsidedow

Have a safe and wonderful trip. I had two sons who were both sport accident prone and knew it all too at that age.
