Thank you for your quick response, Teena!

The appropriate scooter is already ordered but knowing where the key as well as the scooter will be is terrific. As for keeping it in the room... He will need it to get from the room to wherever we are going. I cannot imagine leaving it outside at the front of the resort!?! Unfortunately I can imagine other guests unplugging one that was already there to take care of their own. Some people think this world is all about them.

When we left Sunday morning I counted 12 scooters out front of the hotel, so a lot of people are doing it. ;)

Yep, and we have to deal with the upset guests because half of them are not charged. They end up having to call the rental companies, wait for them to bring a charged battery ... half the day is shot. Another reason I like Walker Mobility is that they respond quicker than some of the other outfits.

If the difference is minimal and you can go without the water view, I would go for club level! My family was in BC room 5712 in August which I think may be considered roof view. It looked out over the front of the resort and down below was a roof (the parking lot was pretty much blocked by all the trees), but we liked our standard view. To the right we had a view of the villas and Spaceship earth (beautiful at night too) and to the left in a distance we could see the MK fireworks. It was great! Plus you have all the food options.

We were in 5714 in mid-July right next door!.... :rotfl: Loved the view in the AM of the sunrise!!

Thanks Teens; the cost of a CL was $700 more than my 1 bed Villa - not sure if asking at the desk would be cheaper. We went through AAA

Yes, aware the Villa is different than the BC hotel; thought they were somewhat integrated (oops we are at boardwalk BC was full).

We mostly got the Villa because of the separate room. I tend to have insomnia and was worried about difficulty falling asleep, thus by having that separation I wouldn't worry as much. I agree with poster that KITCHEN is snack and coffee type stuff, who wants to cook on Vacation in Disney!

We are going Nov 30th for 8 days!

Does anyone "fee" crowded in a room with spuse and 3 & 5 year old?

Its actually spelled Chaoticsweetness, only one w LoL :goodvibes

Hey YC/BC peeps - just wanted to tell you how much I'm enjoying my view here from my balcony on 4th floor overlooking YC lighthouse, lagoon, and SAB!! We arrived earlier this afternoon and spent a little time at Epcot - now chillin' before dinner at Cali Grill! And as far as the crowds go....what crowds???!!!
Such a great start to our vaca.

Teena - if you are reading this, I asked about an envelope left for us by a friend and nothing??!

Took it there last Sunday. Tell them your friend gave it to the front desk and said to hold it in the mail file. Keep insisting that it was dropped off!!! There are alot of new college program CMs working there that might miss it. If the CM can't find it in the mail file, tell them maybe it's in the manager's safe. INSIST THAT IT WAS DROPPED OFF A WEEK AGO AND HAD THE NOTATION (see below) ON IT!

All I can do is get them to the resort ... after that, it shouldn't be a big deal ... they should be put in the mail file and a notation put on your reservation that the envelope is there.

Each envelope says:

"Please hold for Guest, [name]
Arrival: [date] - [Beach Club or Yacht Club]

Please put in mail file.
Guest will pick up at Front Desk."

I checked out of the YC last Sunday, and have a couple days left here at The Sandwich. I had a nice view of the tennis courts, and a wooded area between the YC and Dolphin, from a standard room - room 3102, just off the little miniature courtyard that's surrounded on all four sides by rooms. Got to see more than my share of wildlife, too. At The Sandwich, I got one of those great Lake View rooms that has a perfect view of the MK if you just step out on to the balcony.

During my stay, I met Richard, the new regular greeter at the YC. He says he's trying to learn the ropes, but I told him that he has already learned the most important part of his role, and that is that everyone who comes through those front doors is greeted with a smile.

I also visited a bit with Teena on Sunday, and one thing I mentioned to her is that I resisted my first reaction in meeting Richard, which was to give him a salute. Nothing wrong with a salute, but that was Art's thing, and it would not be fair to try to make him into Art - each one will create their own style.

As Teena said, Art wasn't a character, he was (and *is*) a person. There's no denying, though, that he also became something of an icon.

One other question that came up talking to Teena is lockers at Stormalong Bay. I can report that there *are* lockers there, but there are not nearly enough of them - always full - and they do cost money. ("Quarters only") However, I checked and the lockers in the fitness center are allowed to be used - rarely if ever are the fitness center guests using all of them, but in theory, they get first dibs.

I also followed Teena's suggestion to do the lobby survey on check-out day. One word of advice on the surveys - in order to get the screen that allows you to type in your own thoughts, you need to answer the multiple-choice questions with something less than the best choice.

For instance, if you answer with "very good", you may get a screen asking you "what could we have done that you would have answered "excellent" instead of "very good"?"

Don't be afraid to mention even minor things - for example, the list of television stations is now on a slowly-scrolling channel on the TV, instead of on a printed card, which now makes it less convenient. Also, I mentioned that the toilet paper seemed low quality and cheap - both of these aren't what one would expect at a luxury resort.

The third thing I mentioned is how I lamented the disappearance of resort-logo merchandise in the shops. At least at the deluxes, the resort is a destination unto itself. I've collected ball caps and mugs over the years, but now it seems that the Poly and the Wilderness Lodge are the only ones carrying the water on this one. (I have not checked out the AK Lodge gift shop lately - maybe them as well.)

Anyway, today is my last full day here, and I'm planning on taking a couple hours and doing something I've long wanted to try - a couple hours of "WDW bus roulette". What's that? Go to the bus stop, and get on the first bus that shows up. Once you're there, wait at the bus stop and transfer to whatever bus comes next. Just keep doing this, and see where it takes you across WDW property. (Don't try this in the morning, since the buses at the theme parks are often dropping off and not picking up.)

Another variation on this is to actually *do something* at each stop. This could require carrying around quite a bit of stuff, to be prepared for arriving at lots of different places.

One more word of warning - be sure to take care of your feet! Use powder in the morning, and put on pads and skins *before* the hot spots become blisters. Once the blister forms, you're playing defense the rest of your trip.

Oh, and Janet, I finally got my pin - for some reason, they had tried to send it to the Villas. Eventually, someone figured out that I was at the YC, and on my next-to-last day it appeared in my room.

Well, enough rambling for the moment.

Haven't had time to put together a cohesive thought since I got back, so just a few ramblings here:
Great great stay, had a super experience. We were two adults staying CL from Tues through Sun. 9/19. Had a nice courtyard room (water view if you leaned out) overlooking the sand volleyball area. Last year we stayed CL at the Yacht, and would rate both stays about the same. Hard to pick one over the other. BC slightly more convenient to Epcot, restaurants, etc, and this time our room was very close to the lounge so hard to beat the location.
As a recent poster just stated, the lack of resort logo merchandise was very disappointing to us too. Literally one lousy key chain with the BC logo, absolutely nothing else. I find that ridiculous, and to us it diminished our overall experience, as we have always liked to buy shirts, mugs, photo frames etc. No room for this, yet every gift shop on property has a vinylmation section? Coincidentally, I think I saw literally one or two people all week in all locations actually looking at the VM stuff. Hope it is a bomb and they bring back real Disney logo merchandise! (sorry to anyone in love with the vinyl stuff!)
Had a great time at the pool everyday, liked the new chairs that started arriving mid week. Pool was never crowded, never had issues finding a chair somewhere. Would like it if they piped more music into the pool area, other than right by Hanna's (and during the play time) no music around the pool.
Hanna's was great too, always good for a cold beer, and had a nice lunch there one day.

Bike rentals were great, loved the "cruiser" type bikes at the YC marina, and rode them all the way from Epcot to the Studios, around the Swolfin, etc. Commented that it would be great to have a bike to ride up to the Studios, really would make that a quick commute, though not a bad walk either.
Bus service was great to the Magic Kingdom, no real waits to speak of. We had a car, so used that to DTD and AK, so no experience with buses there, though did see plenty of AK buses coming to and fro.
Parks were busy with foot traffic, but no real lines to speak of. Longest wait of entire week was first day at Toy Story Mania, maybe 25 minutes. (then had a FP for return visit) Other than that, just waiting time for next show, or pretty much a walk-on when we wanted to do rides.

Did not eat or buy anything from the marketplace, so no comments there, other than they really need to do something about the smell of burnt panini sandwiches wafting all the way out into the lobby!

Found the CL offerings to be very good, never a big crowd, and always plenty of whatever we wanted. Could not have asked for much more there.
Did not ever call on the Concierge for any services, so no experience to share there.
Really enjoyed the character breakfast at Cape May, did not get to do a dinner there this time.
Dinners that we had were Chef Mickey's, Kona, T-Rex, and Fish and Chips at UK. (weren't on Dining Plan) Have to comment that as a party of 2 adults, we get absolutely lousy tables 90% of the time in Disney restaurants. At Mickeys, they tried to put us up against the window facing bay lake, over by the kitchen behind a wall. Might has well have been seated out at the Outer Rim! When I am at a character meal, I want to be able to see the characters, not the pool! At Kona, wasn't as bad, but tables way too close together for such a nice meal. (think they split 4 tops into 2-2 tops and put maybe 12 inches in between) Minor annoyances though, overall experience was good. We missed out on Boma this time around, just ran out of time the day we had a reservation there, so gave it to the Concierge in case they had someone else looking for a table somewhere. (or to cancel for us)

Anyway, really was a very good week, wrapped up our 5th trip in past 48 months. Not sure when we may make a return, may be next year, may be longer. Hope to get out to Disneyland in 2012 when Cars Land and everything else is done, so if not next year, may have to wait until 2013, when Fantasy Land is supposed to be ready to go. That is a long time, hopefully can at least sneak in a short Christmastime trip or something before then!

Thanks for reading all of this, if you made it this far! If anyone has any specific questions, be happy to answer anything at all. :thumbsup2

Thanks Cigar95 and WB1971 for the trip reports. The vacations sounded like they really went well for both of you.

Ditto here! Thanks for the reports...it makes waiting for my December trip so much more fun when I can read about others' great trips to the YC/BC!

One more small correction. We'll be arriving on 11/28, not the 27th. I probably typed it wrong in my wishful thinking. :)

I recently book YC for Aug 2011. DH, myself and our 3 kids (5, 8 &11). We are staying 10 nights, originally I booked us at POR but thought the room would be too small for that length of time. I have booked a Garden View room and requested a balcony.

Any tips for me? Or any idea what what view I may get? Is it just luck?

Finally got some time to start cruising the boards again, and since this is my first trip to BC, I have a question----can we enter through the International Gateway at 9AM (when Future World opens)???

The whole reason I chose this resort was for the proximity of Epcot, but I forgot that Epcot basically opens at '2' different times. BTW, our trip is 11/3 to 11/12 so we can be added to the list!!!

Yes, you can enter through the IG to get to Future World. Not sure what time IG opens I think its a little before 9am, so you'll be all set. You will love staying at the BC. I will be arriving on Saturday for my second stay at the BC, I will never stay anywhere else.

The recent trip reports are great! Can someone please explain the boat transportation for YC/BL, Boardwalk, Epcot, and DHS. Where is each stop located and what is the order? Does each boat run the whole circuit or are some boats "direct"?

We are booked BC water view November 17-21 for my Birthday trip! There seems to be very little in the way of availability though. I keep looking for CL and there is nothing available nor is standard view available (If I’m paying for water view I feel like I might as well go all the way and pay for CL, if I can’t get CL I’d rather not pay for the view).
With the parks closing earlier what activities are available at the resort? I will be travelling with DS13.We are Florida residents so I’m not sure we will get in the pool, we usually don’t if the air temp is below 80 degrees. All of this is making me reconsider…I loved our last stay at BC but if we won’t use the pool and I can’t book CL I may look at a mod instead and do BC next time (spring or summer 2011). Or since we aren’t planning on doing much swimming maybe this would be a good time to check out another EPCOT area hotel??
Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
