Teena-my husband and I will be staying at the YC CL from Dec 10-17 for our 30th anniversary and would very much like a "special" pin to celebrate our 30 years.

On another note, my dad was at opening day at Disneyland some 50 plus years again and he got me a Cinderella watch (which I still have and it still works).

Please send me a PM with the name on the reservation, arrival date, how many pins you want and whether you are at the YC or BC or BCV. Thanks.

Pretty much every winter we take the pool down in sections ... one-third at a time ... to do maintenance. The slide only was down for a period this Spring when an unexpected problem arose. The water parks are also down every winter for maintenance. One is always open though ... they do one at a time. These are not regular pools ... we have sand in ours and it takes an unbelievable amount of maintenance. Obviously we try to do it during a time when the pool is used the least (January/February). Again, the whole pool is never closed for maintenance.

Thanks Teena! And oh no! I didn't mean to suggest that SAB would be closed - the letter I received specifically said that we could use the Luna Park pool/slide, but that the rest of SAB is open. I should have been more specific when I mentioned the hit-or-miss swimming in February - that's due to unpredictable weather, so I hope it didn't confuse anyone!

Teena- what does "PM" mean? What email address do you want me to send the information to?

Just received a "for your future enjoyment" letter regarding YC/BC from Disney in the mail.

Here's the basic message: "While [SAB] has provided our guests with endless enjoyment for many years, it is time to refresh the pool's water slide as well as the kiddie slide. Beginning January 3, 2011, the pool slides will be closed to Guests so we may begin this effort. We expect the slides to reopen in early February."

Thanks for the heads up on this! I have added this message to the Pool Refurbishment News section of the FAQ page.

I'm so excited. I just booked our trip for February. Split stay between AKL (because DH LOVES it there) and BC - for the first time! I wanted to try someplace we'd never been before and based on all the comments here, I chose BC. Now I have to go back through and re-read all the posts so I'm sure I didn't miss anything! I just hope for one thing - that the weather is warmer this coming February than it was this past February. I'll say one thing for sure. I will be better prepared this coming trip. I don't think my ticker works. Have to look at that again.

Ok wanted to book a massage I has used the GF before for my husband and he loved it but I thought if the one in the hotel was good I could use that one and there wouldn't be wasted travel time but I want it to be worth it and where are prices ?

Hi,
I don't know anything about the spa at the BC but I have heard that the Mandara spa at the swan and dolphin is wonderful.
My husband has been encouraging me to book a massage but I hate to leave the family while on vacation so not sure I'll get there but if I do, I plan to book at the Mandara.

I am soooooo excited. I have been at BC twice and this is the first time for YC.

Is it unusual that I didn't receive a folio of my resort charges before I "checked out"? Didn't really give it a thought, as we were leaving at 6:30 in the morning, but they didn't give me anything. (nothing on door, under door, etc.) Guess I should have asked, but just assumed all was taken care of and was really just worried about getting back to airport not thinking about the hotel.

Sounds like a fanatstic room and restaurant lineup! I would appreciate any feedback on Brown Derby, Cape May, Chefs, Kouzzin, and Yachtsman in particular but would enjoy hearing about all of your experiences. Have a great time!

I recently ate at Brown Derby and it was excellent. Cape May's dinner buffet is our favorite at WDW. Yachtsman is where we sometimes go for an anniversary or special occasion. Kouzzin has a unbelievable pancake for breakfast ... orange flavored with blueberries and ganola in it. Yum! As far as dinner at Kouzzin, guests are raving about their seafood stew.

Anyone been on the slide at the Luna Park pool?[/QUOTE]

We were at BC in May when the slide was down. I was REALLY disappointed at first, as SAB is a real draw for our family. (not to mention, I was never informed by Disney, I had to read it here) Anyway, once there all was well. There was a golf cart "bus" driven by lifeguards from BC/YC to BWI on request. The kids and DH went for a while one afternoon, while I headed up to our room to get ready in privacy. They all said it was fun (girls 9 and 9 and boy 7), but like the BC slide better. It was closed our whole trip, so their memories were a year old. They did enjoy the golf cart ride and it was fun to "pool hop" leagally! :goodvibes DH said it was nice, but prefers SAB. I think the biggest difference is that the BWI slide is longer (I think 200' long), but SAB slide is steeper, so faster. Our kids are a little older so they are all about fast! Hope it is warm enough for us to swim in Dec.!

Have a great trip!

As far as not receiving notice about the pool being down, notice is sent to people who book through Disney Travel or on-line on Disney's website. I'm sure a few slip through the cracks but we really try hard to get notice to everybody ahead of time. If you used a travel agent, AAA or something like Expedia, they would get the notice, not the guest. Whether or not the guest would receive notice from AAA, Expedia, etc. is up to AAA, Expedia, etc.

December swimming is hit or miss. I remember sitting at the Candlelight Processional in December and watching the CMs in the choir faint from the heat. Then one year in December watching the Candlelight Processional, we had on our winter coats, hats, scarfs and actually took blankets to wrap ourselves up in. We loved coming to WDW in December, January, February, except for the packing. You really have to be prepared for hot, warm, cool and cold.

I'll throw in a mini review from our trips this year! Brown Derby is my new favorite restaurant at WDW! We avoided signatures for a while because the youngest of our three boys was not really ready for them before this year. But we ate at Brown Derby twice this year - once for lunch in March, and then for dinner in July. Both times, the service was great (even better the second time) and the food was outstanding. I usually order appetizers and salad for dinners (entrees are too much food for me.) So I really liked the scallop appetizer and the tuna appetizer. Of course, the cobb salad is also good, and the sangria was yummy. The grapefruit cake is a really amazing dessert - but only if you really like grapefruit and are prepared for a sweet/sour taste.

Chef's is another favorite. It's our new arrival day lunch tradition - did that twice this year, and plan to do it again in February! We particularly enjoyed the quiche, french onion soup and mac and cheese. Our pickiest eater loves the burgers on the kids' menu - and he's a tough critic! We always make an ADR at lunch to see Remy - which is a big draw for our boys. But we would continue to go there even if Remy doesn't stick around.

Hope you enjoy these as much as we do!

Thank you!! The SAB slide will be hard to beat for our boys, too. But like you said, the legal "pool hop" is a great opportunity! Did you have to wait long for the golf cart bus? I was wondering whether we would walk over or take the bus. Although after all this thinking about the Luna Park pool, it's possible that the SAB slides will open by the time we arrive on February 7!

I don't know if I'll be on any water slides in February, but our boys have been known to be out at the pool when the rest of the world thinks it's too cold! If I am, the longer and slower BWI slide sounds good to me!
