Hey YC/BC peeps - just wanted to tell you how much I'm enjoying my view here from my balcony on 4th floor overlooking YC lighthouse, lagoon, and SAB!! We arrived earlier this afternoon and spent a little time at Epcot - now chillin' before dinner at Cali Grill! And as far as the crowds go....what crowds???!!!
Such a great start to our vaca.

Teena - if you are reading this, I asked about an envelope left for us by a friend and nothing??!

Thanks Teena - I got it!! Right where u said it would be!

The recent trip reports are great! Can someone please explain the boat transportation for YC/BL, Boardwalk, Epcot, and DHS. Where is each stop located and what is the order? Does each boat run the whole circuit or are some boats "direct"?

Each boat makes the full circuit.
Epcot IG -> BWI -> Y&BC (shared dock) -> Swan & Dolphin (shared dock) -> DHS
...
DHS -> S&D -> Y&BC -> BWI -> Epcot

Each dock has two locations were the boats will dock. For instance, at the Y&BC, the boat that docks on the left will be going to BWI and Epcot. The one that docks on the right is going to S&D and DHS. There are signs noting this as well. Once you've been on it, it all makes perfect sense.

Thanks! So would it be correct to say that one boat goes clockwise, the other counterclockwise or something like that? Just one stop from Y&BC to Epcot or one stop in the other direction to DHS, correct? I hope the weather is pleasant to enjoy the walks and the boats when needed.

Thanks Cigar95 and WB1971 for the trip reports. The vacations sounded like they really went well for both of you.

Another ditto! (Although please don't lobby too much to get rid of the Vinylmation! Our three boys love them, and it keeps them occupied while we refill our mugs!)

Yep! From the Y&BC there will always only be one stop between there and a park. When we were there last Nov/Dec, the boat rides were quite nice and a relaxing ride. We actually never walked to Epcot. Since we were at YC and the dock is front of YC (and we were never in a big hurry), we just strolled down the dock and enjoyed watching the ducks while we waited.

My kids are obsessed with Vinylmation, too. I didn't expect that at all but they enjoyed the surprise aspect. :confused3

I just want to say how much I miss being at Disney and BC! :sad1:

Sorry I must have missed it but what resort is referred to as the Sandwich?

People refer to Bay Lake Towers as BLT and one of our Disers here called it the Sandwich because a BLT of course is a sandwich. He's the only person I've ever heard refer to it as Sandwich. The CMs that work there all call it BLT.

Do all the Yacht Club rooms have balconies? (even the standard rooms?) Also where can you fill your mugs at YC?

Ah, Teena, you need to get out a bit more! Perhaps it's more of a radp or mouse-owners term, rather than a DIS term. But now that the secret's out . . . . . .

One more small correction. We'll be arriving on 11/28, not the 27th. I probably typed it wrong in my wishful thinking. :)

Gotch'a covered. Thanks

Don't forget to send your pin requests in. I'll need them fairly early as I'll be away on cruises for part of November and December.

Yes, you can enter through the IG to get to Future World. Not sure what time IG opens I think its a little before 9am, so you'll be all set. You will love staying at the BC. I will be arriving on Saturday for my second stay at the BC, I will never stay anywhere else.

Jill

We just did this yesterday - they let you through turnstiles at 8:50 and we walked at a decent pace and made it to rope just as characters were coming out and before ropes were dropped

Can anyone tell me where the garden view club level rooms are located at the Beach Club?

Also, where are the club level rooms at the YC?

Thank you.

Just received a "for your future enjoyment" letter regarding YC/BC from Disney in the mail.

Here's the basic message: "While [SAB] has provided our guests with endless enjoyment for many years, it is time to refresh the pool's water slide as well as the kiddie slide. Beginning January 3, 2011, the pool slides will be closed to Guests so we may begin this effort. We expect the slides to reopen in early February."

I was a little surprised because I recall lots of discussion on this thread about slide renovation earlier this year. But they are again offering guests the opportunity to use the BWI pool, and the letter says the other sections of SAB will be open. The Luna Park pool water slide looks great, so it would be fun to have the chance to give it a try without staying at BWI!

We're going February 7-13, so maybe we'll be fortunate enough to try the Luna Park pool for the first few days and then see the SAB slides open! (Of course, this all assumes we'll be swimming in February - based on our experience, that's hit or miss!)

First, good luck with your marathon training!

I didn't expect the "surprise" aspect to set well with our boys either, but they love it! And they love it even more now that they are into the Vinylmation trading. They can trade at Disney stores and with each other to get lots of the ones they want. And they have been very lucky lately! For example, our oldest wanted to find the snowman from the holiday series and was looking all over WDW (in July) and DL (in August) for it. At one trading location at DTD in DL, he was talking with the CM at the counter and holding the St. Pat's guy he wanted to trade. A woman approached our son, said she was interested in a trade (her husband looked kind of like the St. Pat's vinylmation!) and asked what he was looking for. He said "the snowman." She looked in her bag for a few seconds, pulled out the snowman, and they traded!

Teena-my husband and I will be staying at the YC CL from Dec 10-17 for our 30th anniversary and would very much like a "special" pin to celebrate our 30 years.

On another note, my dad was at opening day at Disneyland some 50 plus years again and he got me a Cinderella watch (which I still have and it still works).

We used SAB every day of our trip last week and DH & kids used the slide everyday. After 1 or 2 trips down the first day, my back was killing me from the "bumps" in the slide where the sections are put together and I heard many guest complaining about the same thing. Perhaps that is why they are refurbing it again.

Ah ha! Now that you mention it, our oldest son said something about "bumps" during our July trip (no complaints from either of them pre-renovation in March.) They used the slide during that trip, but not as much as they had in the past - but they hung out with our youngest near the kiddie slide a lot!

Anyone been on the slide at the Luna Park pool?

Pretty much every winter we take the pool down in sections ... one-third at a time ... to do maintenance. The slide only was down for a period this Spring when an unexpected problem arose. The water parks are also down every winter for maintenance. One is always open though ... they do one at a time. These are not regular pools ... we have sand in ours and it takes an unbelievable amount of maintenance. Obviously we try to do it during a time when the pool is used the least (January/February). Again, the whole pool is never closed for maintenance.
