Hi All!

We're planning a June 2011 trip to the World, and are pretty set on either BCV or BC due to SAB (we're usually at BWI or GF but the kids are older now and really want to hit the "cool" pool this time).

Thing is, my mom will likely be going with us (so we'd have three adults, three boys 10-5-2, and a seven month old), so it's either a 2bdrm Villa or two rooms at the BC. If we go BC CL, can/will IPO assist us in getting connecting rooms, and would our chances be better with them helping us? I know it's still a request, and room assignments aren't one of the listed services that IPO provides, but having the connecting rooms would be a real plus and would let us split the kids up and still be right next door.

I assume that there are connecting rooms on the fifth floor, and further that they would be 2Q/2Q (and the daybed probably wouldn't even be an issue if we had four beds). Is that correct, for the most part?

Also, last thing...if we went with a Deluxe CL room and a regular room, I know that the deluxe rooms are on 1-4; do they have a connecting room?

Thanks for any info you can provide!

I've read that because Yacht & Beach Club are convention hotels, there's a charge to have stuff sent there. We are staying at the Villas - does this also count as a convention hotel with a charge, or is it different? If there is a charge, is it for every package that arrives, or is it one charge for the guest to come and retrieve them all?

The shipping department is outsourced ... not run or owned by Disney. There is a charge to ship and a charge to receive ... even if you pick it up yourself at the shipping department. Each package is charged per the weight.

Great question! I know in the past Teena has instructed to mail items directly to the Yacht or Beach Club to avoid the ($10) pickup fee. I'm not sure if this applies to the villas too, or what address you should use, or if you should mail your items to the Beach Club.

Teena is working today, so she won't be able to respond or confirm until much later tonight or tomorrow. Once I have the correct info I will post it to the front page.

Here are the instructions for mailing items to YC or BC

Disney's Beach Club Resort (or Disney's Beach Club Villas)
1800 Epcot Resort Boulevard
Lake Buena Vista, Florida 32830
Please give to Guest, (name on reservation)
Check-in date 9/1/10

or

Disney's Yacht Club Resort

Mail by United States Postal Service, not anything else!!! If you mail other than USPS, they (the shipping department) will charge the recipient a handling charge.

This is absolutely true. If you mail it ONLY by United States Postal Service to the resort itself, you will not be charged because it will go to the Resort, not the shipping department. This only works if it is mailed via USPS. If you mail it to yourself addressed as above but send it via UPS or any other service, it goes to the shipping department and you will be charged!

So the pick-up fee doesn't apply if stuff is shipped directly to the hotel's address, vs some central Disney address? I had been planning to send it directly to the hotel's address anyway, as we do when we stay anywhere else. We are from outside the U.S., and like to shop online in the weeks leading up to any trip and have the stuff sent to our hotel - cuts down on the amount of actual shopping time we need to put aside while in the U.S..

Good tip about using USPS.

It MUST be via USPS!! Any other carrier, even if you address it to the hotel's address or to the hotel front desk or whatever, it will go to the shipping department and therefore you will be charged. USPS is the ONLY way you can avoid charges!

So that means if you do some kind of water/grocery delivery you WOULD have to pay the fee?

If you order water and groceries through Garden Grocer (locally), they drive the items and unload them and give them to our Bell Services and Bell Services even has a large refrigerator if you have ordered perishables. Then when you get into your room, you call Bell Services and they will bring up your groceries. You tip Bell Services of course. If you have water and other items shipped to the resort by any means other than USPS, it will go to the shipping department (which is not owned and operated by Disney) and you will be charged a fee!

Thank you Jan

The front desk CMs and other CMs at the Y&B know NOTHING about OUR pins. So if someone goes to the front desk and asks for one, there will NOT be one there. If you want one, you need to send me a PM with your arrival date, name on your reservation and whether you are checking into the BC or the YC or the BCV. "A friend" will be dropping off an envelope with the pin inside at the front desk for you to pick up when you check in.

WHEW!! Ok, so I have just completed this thread AND the previous 2!! WOW...lots of clicking, and lots of info!! You guys know so much, and are SO helpful, I wish I had checked into this thread earlier!!

Me and DGF are checking into BC on Sept 29-Oct 6. SOOOOOOOOOO excited, this is a dream trip for us, and a dream resort!! Never thought we would be able to stay here, but got an absolutely phenomenal rate that we couldnt pass up!!

We've gone every year since they started free dining, but this will be our first year withOUT the dining plan (the rate was room only, unable to add dp), but i think it will give us a lot more flexibility than what we are used to. We have a few TS planned, but will probably do mostly CS, offiste, and food in the room.

Going through this thread, it looks like we will miss Teena :(, which is a shame, cause I was looking forward to meeting her! Hoping that everybody can give me suggestions on a couple of the questions I still have after going through these threads- had lots more before, but you guys have answered tons of them!!

So trying to decide what to put on our room requests (which i know are ONLY requests), altho I will be happy no matter what we get....after all, we're at disney world AND the BC! :) Normally, I always request king beds for us, BUT after reading repeatedly on here how few there are, I feel like that could possibly be a wasted request. We have a Standard view room (which I know means we could get the parking lot or the rooftops), but i would like to have something not too crappy. I think most important tho is to have a full balcony, so I'm trying to decide the best way to word my request. I know Teena has said the 2nd floor has fewer crappy views, so would it be better to say Full Balcony, 2nd floor, or Full balcony, garden view, OR Full balcony, facing epcot?

Thanks for the tips about regular check-in versus online check-in, will definitely make sure we do that. Also, one other thing I learned in this thread that I had never heard before, was that we can request a microwave for our room? When should this request be made? Anybody know how likely/unlikely it is that we would get one, and is there an additional charge?

That's all of the questions I can think of for now, may have more later :cutie:

Thanks again to everyone here for all your knowledge and sharing, you have been such a great help!!:worship: Can't wait to get to the Beach Club!!:cool1::cheer2::dance3::banana::woohoo::yay:

I would suggest "full balcony second floor" and NO more. Skip the Epcot view since most of the second floor Epcot views are standing balconies. Your best bet is to limit your requests. Honestly, in my opinion, the worst views on the second floor are the views of the woods facing Epcot. Just my opinion but it's another reason to skip the Epcot view.

You can request a microwave at check-in. There is no charge. They are limited in number so it's a first come, first serve thing.

Wow CounselorMom! Are you sure this is your first Disney trip? It took me years to put together an itinerary like that! :worship:

We've been in late Dec before and swam OK. The pool is usually warm enough but getting in and out can be chilly.

Keep up the great planning! You're a natural.:teacher:

Ahhhh!! I'm smiling from ear to ear! I have had the best teachers right here at the disboards. It's been a blast to plan and everyone has been so helpful.
That's good to know about swimming in Dec.!

I'm really glad I read this, cause that is exactly what I requested, an EPCOT/Woods view. Thanks Teena, I'll be calling to change my request, it's so good to have someone on the "inside" giving advice!! I'll be PM'ing you soon to claim by button!

Thank you for the confirmation :thumbsup2 If we decide to try it this time I will be happy not to pay the extra on top of the delivery fee.

Teena do you also confirm the answer to my other question? If I don't really care about the view as much - but want something that is closest to Epcot - could I ask for a quiet room, close to Epcot?

If you don't care about the view but want to be close to Epcot, my request would read "first floor, close to Epcot please". There's really no requesting a "quiet" room. A room is only quiet if nobody on either side or across from you has a screaming child or teenagers or family members that scream in "outside" voices instead of "inside" voices. There is no way to know what room will be quiet on any given day. You could be in a wing where there is not alot of foot traffic, but depending on who is near you, it could become the noisest part of the resort. If I wanted to be close to Epcot, I would definitely request a first floor room so that I could walk out the exit door next to room 1501 without having to do stairs. I don't mind going down stairs but after being out all day and coming back, if I enter the building by that exit door by 1501 and I'm up on the second or third floor, the last thing I want to do is walk up stairs after walking 10 miles all day long. Just my opinion.

I just wanted to add how much we LOVE this entrance/exit! When we were in 3512 last March, we used it because it was close to our room (although ditto on Teena's comments regarding the stairs at the end of the day - one of us carried the stroller, the other carried our sleepy pre-schooler, and our two older boys held the doors!) In July, our room was not near that exit/entrance, but we used it very frequently to get into the air-conditioned hallways as soon as possible.

Thank you. I think I will do "Close to Epcot, first floor please". I guess it is a tiny bit more important to us to be closer to the Epcot door, than on the first floor. We don't have any strollers or little kids (dds ages 11 and 12). Hopefully it won't be a trade-off between the two - but both will be possible.

Yes - I didn't mean quiet in terms of people. I didn't have all the information I do now :thumbsup2 - so I was thinking "quiet" in terms of facing the woods.

Teena, are you able to confirm that if you send something via USPS to the actual hotel address, you won't have to pay the $10 pick-up fee? Is that fee only for things that end up in the convention area?

Yes. If the shipping department doesn't get it, you don't pay a fee. The shipping department is not owned and operated by Disney. It is outsourced. Only United States Postal Service comes to the resort itself. Everything else must go to the shipping department even if it is addressed to the resort. If it comes to the resort and not the shipping department, you do not get charged. I've been told that the only "company" allowed to deliver anything to the resort itself and not the shipping department is the USPS.

Time keeps rolling along and the list keeps getting longer. Any one else want to add their name to the roll-call?
