I called this morning and the YC had availability for our dates :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

So we switched from the Poly back to the YC which was our original choice back when we had to cancel our July trip due to my illness.

My DS is so excited because YC was his choice for SAB :thumbsup2

We arrive very late in the evening on 8/20 and leave late afternoon on 8/23 - so just a short trip but still I am just so very very very thankful to be going at all.

It's been a rough summer but now we all have something wonderful to look forward too :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

Totally understand....good trade-off - you will be able to take your long summer vacation at your favorite. Hoping for some :wizard: for the discount!!

We are planning for the end of June. My youngest D graduates from 8th grade and my oldest D will be returning to college for a summer session in Orlando. Tentively, we are looking at a 4 night cruise to the Bahamas out of Port Canaveral, then a 3 night stay at the Beach Club. NO parks, no dinner shows this time, we really want to enjoy the resort, there is so much to do that we didn't get a chance to do - (like movie night and s'mores on the beach, going to the boardwalk at night, watching illuminations from the beach, etc. - and I missed out on the whirlpool, my kids pointed it out to me the day we were leaving!!). I am anxiously waiting for a summer discount or PIN!!

So happy for you....better get packing!!! Enjoy :)

Y&BC are the place to be in warm weather. Glad you were able to make the change.

I feel like a traitor!

We're getting ready to make our February reservations and just realized that most of our trip is in "peak" season. Almost $500 a night for a gv non cl room!
The room only discount won't carry over through the trip and would only be good the first day! If we want to do the really long summer BC trip I have to cut down expenses on this trip.

BC gv room would be $3200 for the week - Swan is $1600. I think we're going to book the Swan (and hope some really good AP rates will come out and we can change). We love doing the 16 night trip in the summer and we want to go back to Hilton Head next summer too so this seems like the best idea.

I know I'll be pining for BC but at least with Feb. weather it won't be so hard to walk by SAB! Not ideal, but definitely better than having to downgrade to a moderate.

Boo hoo . . .

Disney has already made statements that they "intend to return to normal pricing" sometime within 2011-without of course saying WHEN in 2011 that will be. But, I'm sure you've already noticed that the discounts that have come out aren't as good as more recent past discounts. I suspect then that the AP rates for summer aren't going to be nearly as good, either (bummer!).

I think you all need some kind of identification. Nothing big and flashy. A small button or pin maybe that says "Y&B Disser" on it that you can all wear. Then when you pass in the lounge or lobby or at the parks, you'll know to say something. Especially now with so many of you being there. I know you are passing each other but there is no way of telling who you are. Our Y&B group is very special and it's a shame you can't tell who each other is.

The last meet was so fantastic ... everybody meeting each other and the kids (or young adults) all got along so well. I know some lasting friendships definitely formed. Afterall, we all have so much in common!

Any ideas?

I actually have a lime green DIS button that I couldn't find before our last trip. In the past, I pinned it on my back pack so others would see I was from The Dis. I wonder if they still sell them--mine is yyyeeears old.

This would have been a great idea. There was a family at BC from Chicago who I wanted to meet but wouldn't have been able to recognize them without some "DIS" ID help.

DW keeps a LGMH on her purse, tied with neon green string. I keep one on the camera case.

For those not on "team Focker watch":
LGMH= lime green Mickey heads
Found at Home Depot
Disney paint section
Alien Green

If they still have that color. We stocked up a few years ago

Here is a pic of the one I made for our trip.

mickeyhead.jpg

It is a little bigger then the LGMH from Home Depot. I laminated it and used paper punch for the hole to attach to my bag. We saw several people with them on the buses and in the parks last trip and made sure we said hello. My DD was even pointing people out that had them. So much fun. If anyone want the template, let me know and I will post a link.

I think we need a separate one ... only for Y&B Dissers. If somebody has an idea, I'd be willing to chip in some $ for them to be made.

I think this is a great idea!!! And I would be willing to contribute, too!

Robyn, you could not possibly be a traitor! Swan sounds like a great alternative under the circumstances, especially given the location. Of course, I don't know what rates will appear next February, but when we were at BC during peak season last March, our AP rate was approx. $260 for a standard room at BC. I know you don't usually stay standard (and we're moving at least to garden while we're continuing to consider CL!) but something may appear. I'm also watching the general public discounts for late February for our friends (they might stay at BC if there is a good deal, but off-site if not.)

I have been following this thread for months now and just thought it was time to say hello. My family and I will be arriving on Oct. 2 to the 9th, for what we are calling a "do over" trip. We were at the World last September but had to leave early due to my mother in law taking ill. We left after only 3 days of our seven day trip and she pass away a week after we got home. She always wanted to be able to go with us but couldn't because of her health so this year we decided that in memory of her we would take it up a bit and stay BC/ CL. I know my kids will love it and it will be a great way for them to remember thier grandma.

As if last year wasn't enough my grandmother just pass away this past Friday. So for me this trip holds even more.

Anyway, thanks for listening and I hope that we will get a chance to see some of our fellow Dis'ers while we are there!

Oh yeah, and it is my 13th wedding anniversary!

Erin

I have asked one of the VERY creative Disigners to create a special BC/YC design Mickey head for us (Hope you don't mind). I will post it when she replies. If you all like it, we can see what we can do with it.

I'll be there Sep 7 - 11 (After 9 days in the World with friends. Last 4 days will be solo at a new resort for me. Whew!)

Wow, there's so many pages to read through!

Basically me, my boyfriend, my parents, his parents & 2 of our friends are staying at the Yacht Club from the 23rd Oct-6th Nov (2010).

My boyfriend want's to know what the gym (fitness centre) is like there, cause he keeps very much in shape & since he'll find it hard to eat what he normally eats when in DW (high protein meals) he'll have to concentrate on exercising.

Can you go to other Resorts & use there gym's? I heard Contemporary has a good one?

& in general what's the resort like? It's my Uncle's favourite, he says it's very peaceful & laid-back.

:)
