I feel like a traitor!

We're getting ready to make our February reservations and just realized that most of our trip is in "peak" season. Almost $500 a night for a gv non cl room!
The room only discount won't carry over through the trip and would only be good the first day! If we want to do the really long summer BC trip I have to cut down expenses on this trip.

BC gv room would be $3200 for the week - Swan is $1600. I think we're going to book the Swan (and hope some really good AP rates will come out and we can change). We love doing the 16 night trip in the summer and we want to go back to Hilton Head next summer too so this seems like the best idea.

I know I'll be pining for BC but at least with Feb. weather it won't be so hard to walk by SAB! Not ideal, but definitely better than having to downgrade to a moderate.

Boo hoo . . .

I feel like a traitor, too. We're staying Poly CL for the 1/2 marathon in January. Because I have to be at the start SO early, I thought it would be easier to stay on the monorail.

I made some lime green Mickey heads for our stuff, too. Home Depot didn't have any alien green left so I took some in a different color and used them to trace on lime green poster board. I just used packing tape to cover it and then trimmed the extra tape. I used a hole punch and bought some binder rings. I'm very craft-challenged but this was pretty easy!
I like the idea of BC/YC ones. We could just pick a different Home Depot Mickey head color. :confused3

I have asked one of the VERY creative Disigners to create a special BC/YC design Mickey head for us (Hope you don't mind). I will post it when she replies. If you all like it, we can see what we can do with it.

Before I saw this, I was thinking of something with a lighthouse on it, but I like this idea. DW and I can't wait to see it.

Re: fitness center: I don't think you can use a fitness center other than the one at your own resort. Never been in the YC/BC one, but it doesn't look too bad from the walkway.

The only time I was in the fitness center at the YC/BC was to walk through it to get to the lockers on our last day. We stored out bathing suits and a change of clothes there for an afternoon swim in SAB after the parks.

This is what I found:

Fitness Center and Spa

The Ship Shape Health Club is located between Disney's Yacht Club Resort and its sister, Disney's Beach Club Resort.

This fitness center and spa features massage therapies, body treatments, skin care and hair services, and men's and women's sauna and steam rooms.

State-of-the-art fitness equipment by Life Fitness and Hammer Strength includes treadmills, elypticals, stair climbers, regular and recumbent bicycles, weight machines and free weights.

Open 24 hours a day.

An attendant is present from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

For club access beyond attendant hours, meet with an attendant to sign a waiver and obtain a 24-hour access key.

Resort Guests must be 14 years of age or older to use the health-club facilities. Guests 14 to 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or a guardian.

A personal trainer is also available by appointment, for an additional cost.
____

Found this bit of info:

If you are not staying at one of these resorts and would like to use a workout center, you may do so by paying $12.00 a day (subject to availability.) Please note that if you schedule a spa treatment, you may use the fitness center that day for no additional charge.

I will be there Sep 18-25, BCV!

Just hit the 30 day mark! I have said it before, but need to exclaim it again:) I am sooo amazingly excited for this trip. Words really cannot describe it. It really is a dream come true for me. I have literally fantasized about being able to stay at the BCV, and cannot believe it is actually coming true. I am so afraid someone is going to pinch me and I am going to wake up:)

I can feel my heart start beating faster when I think about swimming in SAB, or think about the lovely stroll to Epcot. Or sunset over the lighthouse. Or pretty much everything about this resort!!

Thank you all for all your suggestions, words of wisdom. I must say the YC/BC patrons DO really seem like the friendliest bunch on the Dis, which is very nice to see (my only complaint about The Dis is the negative energy that can be found too often).

Will also be doing MNSSHP for the first time on 21 SEP. Halloween is my favorite holiday and disneyworld is my favorite place. So to be experiencing BOTH at the same time, I am afraid my head will explode with excitement!!!

Is it too early to start packing?! :)

Teena - I have been reading so many wonderful things about you. Will you be there during my stay. Would love to meet you!!

Robyn,
Another idea is to look into renting DVC points. It would be around $2,000 for a 1 bedroom in Feb. for 7 nights.

Good news: I heard back from one of the managers at DVC and after speaking with BW they have agreed that the room should have been taken out for maintenance and have returned my points to my account for the Saturday night:cool1:

I did a couple of searches and could not find this.

What are SAB's hours? In particular in October? Thanks!

I am feeling a little sad knowing I was supposed to leave for my original August trip to BC tomorrow.....but.....I feel better knowing that thanks to great FEB deals, I have a new trip in the works for this February! :cool1:

After 2 days of planning, it is all falling into place. The only thing left to book is a good return airfare and our 3 nights at Portofino Bay (Universal Studios) when February pricing is released! I didn't realize until yesterday, but I was even in the booking window for dining reservations....so all day yesterday was spent planning which park/which day and doing Disney DLX Dining Plan math to plan our meals according to allotted credits available!
:lovestruc I love some good Disney Food, and am happy that we will be visiting some favourites and even trying a couple new places (Hoop De Doo and Jiko)

One thing I did because we aren't paying to stay club level this trip was book us a breakfast each morning....THING is, most days, I booked Cape May Cafe breakfast buffet so we would have a breakfast option in our resort/ and a buffet so we can be in and out fairly quickly.
I hope that after 5 Cape May breakfasts we won't be bored of it! I bet you they will know us by name at the end of our week! :rotfl:
I did mix it up for our Magic Kingdom day and book Kona Cafe at the POLY (as I've always wanted to try their macadamia nut pancakes!)....but other than that it is breakfast each morning at Cape May

Hope I won't regret booking a character breakfast every morning

I am excited to experience the Beach Club and am excited for the beginning of February for the first time in a long time!

How wonderful. Can't wait!! Of course they won't let me wear it with my costume at work but whenever I'm there for dinner (and since Cape May is one of my favorites, that is very often) or doing the parks, I'd wear it.

I'll be there two days a week (probably Sunday and Monday). I look forward to meeting you too!

Hello!
I have been lurking and learning so much over the past few months. We are so excited about our first trip to BCV Oct 1-10th. The trip was originally planned as my daughters birthday "blowout". I have one daughter turning 9 in September and one turning 7 in November so a trip in October for fall break bridged the difference! We now have another reason to celebrate...sort of a "do over" for me. My 40th birthday was in May and I had decided to run my first half marathon to celebrate. I developed a stress fracture in my hip as a result and could not run the race and spent my 40th on crutches (for a total of 6 weeks!!!!) I still can't run but we have decided to "redo" my big 4-0 during the trip since my actual birthday was such a disappointment and very stressful!! Does that sound completely crazy to celebrate a May birthday in October given the circumstances???

Anyway, when thinking of a room request we want an area that is quiet, I am afraid facing the pool would be loud and I know some units are next to a road with heavy truck traffic. We will have a one bedroom unit so what is the best request, my husband and I would also love to be able to sit on the balcony and have some wine after the girls are in bed and enjoy the high fireworks from epcot. Can anyone help me organize a request to attach to our ressie?

I am so hoping to meet the famous Teena......Teena if you read this do you think you will be around for our dates?!

Thanks for the specific help on this question and for the many questions answered just reading the thread

As far as I know, there is no place that hours are posted in advance. I just looked at my recreation sheet from July and I didn't even see the hours on that. You may have to wait until your trip, unless someone else knows a way to find out the hours. You can try asking at the beginning of October to see how late the pool is open for guests then.

We enjoyed the one breakfast we had at Cape May, but if you find you need a break, I hear excellent things about the Captain's Grille breakfast at the Yacht Club. They have both a buffet (not character) or ala carte meals. I have a feeling that you would have no problem getting a table there, even last minute if you choose.

I'm afraid I'll only be there on your check-out day (Sunday) ... hopefully we can meet then. I'll be with my daughter from September 28 through October 8th and won't be back to work until that Sunday.

As far as your room request, the Villas are always 100% occupied so that limits the rooms that will be available for you to just the one bedroom units that are being vacated on the day you check in. Most people request pool view. You may want to request Epcot view but there really aren't many of those and I can't think of any that actually have a view of the fireworks. Most of the Epcot views are over future world. We have some frequent BCV guests that post here so maybe they can give you an idea of what to request since they have been in most of the rooms. Just remember, requests are just that, and nothing is guaranteed. You will have a full balcony or patio though.

Thank you Natebenma! :goodvibes That will definitely be something to consider....do you by chance know if they accept the DDP? That is an important consideration for where we choose to eat.
If I get bored of Cape May, perhaps this will be a great alternative :thumbsup2

I am very much looking forward to our first stay at the BC! :flower3:

Here is what she made. Let me know what you think. You can customize with your screen name in the other ear.

How big is it?

Just sort of thinking out loud but I had a vision of something like a button-pin ... like the first visit or happy birthday pins they give out at the front desk ... that size or a tad smaller. Is that possible? What do the rest of you think???

I'm thinking no year on it since we'd want to wear it year after year. Again, just my thoughts.

And maybe something more like "Y&B Disser" (do you spell it Diser or Disser?) I think we are a special group and I hate to say it, but lots of people don't like the Disboards because some of those threads get real ugly and nasty. I've had people say to me when I mention the Disboards, "are you kidding, you go on them? You don't seem the type." I understand what they mean ... I have friends who read once in a while but would never post ... let's face it, most of the threads get ugly. So I personally don't want to advertise I'm on the Disboards, although I have no problem saying I'm just a Y&B Disser. How do you all feel?

Definitely love the green .. like the picture although I would prefer it to be the Beach side and not the "dark side" (lol)! Is there a picture that shows both resorts or maybe the 3 logos instead (YC, BC and BCV) all together instead of a photo that only shows one of the resorts? That would probably be more representative of our group here.

Let's hear comments from everybody!!

The Captain's Grill is fantastic for breakfast - I actually prefer it over Cape May FOR BREAKFAST (certainly not dinner - Cape May is one of my favorites). And at lunch, the Grill has a fantastic Lobster Roll. For breakfast, it has a buffet or order off the menu. It is a table service for the Disney Dining Plan.
