2010 news from the Magic

Ok....I've been reading all the threads and see lots have people have already put in their requests for 2010....how will that impact someone (me) who wants to use some DVC points for the trip? Will everything be "held" and not available? We can book 2 years out so on the opening day it will be a mad house....for the Med cruise it took me 3 hours on the phone to get my booking!:scared1: I did get what I wanted too...:woohoo: ..I was at work and wanted to put them on speaker while I was on hold but I was so afraid I would cut them off. The DVC advisor didn't come back either with updates because she was also afraid she would get cut off from being on hold at DCL....
So any ideas how this new booking date will work?:confused3

Also I am just going to book for DH and myself....DD in college and working and has no idea if she can go that far out...does anyone know if I can add her later with points in my room?

you will have to pay another 95 dollars. but you should have no problem adding her.

I'm kind of thinking that many of those 2009 cruises selling now are place holders for folks waiting to transfer to 2010. .

yep just a place holder for me...looking at 2010

You might want to consider renting your points out for $10 per point on the rent/trade board, and then use the cash to book your cruise. You'll save LOTS of points or money doing it this way. I know we've discussed this some already on this thread, so sorry if I'm repeating myself. Talk to Steph (taysmom) for a hard lesson learned by booking with points on our Med cruise.

Jodie

Jodie,
I've never done that...we have always used our points....something to think about...we have always had enough points just to trade...i'll have to send a pm to taysmom to hear about the lesson....
thanks

I spoke with DVC MS about a week ago and asked them how the booking would work. the CM told me that last time was crazy (as you experienced) and that this time they will have a dedicated line for DVC MS to get through to DCL on booking day. Hopefully that will help, although I'm not planning to be anywhere else that morning except by my phone in case I'm on hold for a while. Wishing us luck!

We too booked a 2009 cruise while onboard the E/B Panama with no interest in it on the hope that 2010 brings something better and we can transfer. Has anyone done this and how do you achieve it. We have transferred our booking to DU.

In 2006, we rebooked while on board a seven night Caribbean. We were slotted to go in December 2007. We requested a particular Cat 3 for a specific week in July 2008. We told them we didn't care where the ship was, we would meet it anywhere. In January 2007 when booking opened for 2008, our TA got a call telling us that Inventory Control had moved our reservation exactly as requested.

I know that they do that for the suites but I don't know about the other staterooms. It is worth a call to DU and/or DCL to see how it is handled.

Hi Brenda

We did it same at WB Panama cruise and we booked it for 2009 but I emailed DU last week to let them know that we cannot afford next year and move it to 2010.

Got emailed back from DU as they said that I can move it to 2010:thumbsup2

Have just send an email to DU to do just the same.

Any luck with your pictures? Have searched my computer for those you sent me but just cannot find anything.

That's the one! I see it isn't available at all in 2009...no problem, we don't want it till 2010! :lmao: :lmao:

Our friends rented out the whole castle for their parents 50th anniversary (her parents are from Scotland so it was a family reunion) and they took our DD to help out with the kids. The grounds are just gorgeous as well as the interior. If I can get them from my DD I will post interior pics...she took a ton!!! Magnificent views over the loch. She was there the last week of August. The owners live there and rent it out but told them in 2009 they were keeping it just for family and not renting. she loved it!!!!

I am so excited about this. It is crazy because it is 2 YEARS away. I am also worried that it is a big psych out. one of my friends heard that sales will be open 10/11. i don't know where she heard that from. There is so much conflicting information. what is really sad for us is we know someone who works very "high up" at Disney. He is lovingly laughing his butt off at us right now as we tell him all the speculation we have heard. He knows and of course can't tell. ;)

Oh, I hope booking don't start on the 11th....that is the day we board the Magic and it will be too hectic to try and book that day. Even though I have my TA handling it I like to read the boards and see what is happening with everyone's experiences.

I am extremely interested in the 2010 cruises and have a question for you all.

Can I contact DU this early to let them know that once bookings open up to book us a cruise for the dates we are interested in? Or should I just wait for the actual booking date to be announced? I don't want to miss out.

Thanks for the assist.

Nina

Trouble is it is only speculation where and when the cruises are to be and unless we get more information we are all in the dark.

Where is our master of all information today - working in the Diney office in London perhaps.

I've contacted DU already to let my TA know that I will be wanting to book a 2010 special on the day bookings open up. It is a little easier for me as I want to do the Christmas cruise so I have only got one cruise to choose from!!

But if I were you, I would at least let them know that you will be wanting to book on opening day - that way they have an ide of how many clients they are going to be ringing up for on opening day!!

do you think the Christmas cruise will include NY too? Or will it be broken up into 2 cruises? My kids are too young to do Christmas on board :santa: but, NYE might be nice! :)

I believe - (and this is based on what happened in 2004;) - which was the last time Christmas Day and New Years Day fell on Saturdays) - that there will be a 10 night Christmas cruise sailing on 18th Dec and this will return to PC on Tuesday 28th Dec, which is when the New Years cruise will depart for 11 nights - returnng to PC on Saturday Jan 8th, ready to start the 'regular' cruises again.

I might be wrong but this is what I am hoping for - especially if the ports are the same (Key West, St Maarten, St Lucia, Antigua and St Thomas before Castaway Cay - bliss!!:cloud9: )

Roll on October 7th!!!:lmao:

How is Castaway Cay in wintertime? Dec/Jan/Feb are the seas calm and is it too cool to swim?

We were there just before Christmas in 05. The weather was PERFECT!! Not too hot or too humid. Don't remember the water temp. I wasn't in the water, but the kids definitely were. The kids area was very calm since its sheltered, but I remember the adult beach being windy with rough water.

Booking suggestions various questions.

Do not nothing is confirmed as yet but we have a good idea.

DCL will only accept requests at inventory control for Suites Cats1>3.
If you want one of these contact DCL direct, or get your TA to do so.

Inventory control will need an idea of the cruise you are looking for and the dates.

If you are looking for a Cat 4 to Cat 12 DCL will not, take any wait-list at this time, but if you use a Travel agent you should call them/ e mail them so shoe your interest, and give them an idea. TA's will contact DCL at the reservations opening time in order of their wait-list, so it would be best to contact them now.

You of course have options to call DCL yourself and also book direct online.

I personally feel there will be interest in these cruises but famous last words, they will not 'sell out' first day, some might depending on DCL policy go up from first tier pricing.

I think the REPO's will be good value, if they have the same ports as last time, as they didnt sell to well.

The Baltics will be 'expensive' the Med trips better value as there is more of them.

Tell DU your plans to swap and they will organise it all for you.
