2010 news from the Magic

Hi All;

I'm aboard the Magic now and we are going through the canal. It's awesome! Last night I spoke with an officer who said that the 2010 Summer special itineraries/dates will be released Oct 7, and booking opened one week later. No word on the actual itineraries though. Just thought I'd share.

Cheers, Krista

OMG! Thanks Krista! I'm so glad I logged on today (I haven't since last year). We're planning to go on another cruise in 2010, so this info is so surprising and quite exciting!! October is soooooo close!!!!! yey!!!

Booking suggestions various questions.

Do not nothing is confirmed as yet but we have a good idea.

DCL will only accept requests at inventory control for Suites Cats1>3.
If you want one of these contact DCL direct, or get your TA to do so.

Inventory control will need an idea of the cruise you are looking for and the dates.

If you are looking for a Cat 4 to Cat 12 DCL will not, take any wait-list at this time, but if you use a Travel agent you should call them/ e mail them so shoe your interest, and give them an idea. TA's will contact DCL at the reservations opening time in order of their wait-list, so it would be best to contact them now.

You of course have options to call DCL yourself and also book direct online.

I personally feel there will be interest in these cruises but famous last words, they will not 'sell out' first day, some might depending on DCL policy go up from first tier pricing.

I think the REPO's will be good value, if they have the same ports as last time, as they didnt sell to well.

The Baltics will be 'expensive' the Med trips better value as there is more of them.

Well, Andrew, I took your advice and contacted DU with my date requests and a request for a suite. I'm sure the suite won't happen, but it doesn't hurt to try. We will probably end up with our usual 2 connecting CAT. 5 staterooms.

Thanks for the help.

Good luck you will never know.

Also just to add to Andrew's excellent post about booking options. Whether booking directly yourself or using a TA, choose one or the other not both. Double and in some cases even triple booking only leads to a faster increase in pricing. Once the price moves up to the next tier it does not come back down, not even once the excess cabins are released.

Do fully agree, DO NOT DOUBLE INSTRUCT, you might think its an insurance policy to get a booking, -well I do not think they will sell out first day, but it bumps the price up quickly and someone, will loose out on price.

It happens as we have seen cruises like the E/bound repo sell out first day then have availability on day 3/4 as a lot of TA 'Holds' are given back to stock but price stays high.

I believe - (and this is based on what happened in 2004;) - which was the last time Christmas Day and New Years Day fell on Saturdays) - that there will be a 10 night Christmas cruise sailing on 18th Dec and this will return to PC on Tuesday 28th Dec, which is when the New Years cruise will depart for 11 nights - returnng to PC on Saturday Jan 8th, ready to start the 'regular' cruises again.

I might be wrong but this is what I am hoping for - especially if the ports are the same (Key West, St Maarten, St Lucia, Antigua and St Thomas before Castaway Cay - bliss!!:cloud9: )

Roll on October 7th!!!:lmao:

That is what I am hoping for also! 11 nights would be wonderful. :thumbsup2 I will have to see what the scoop is on 10/7.

What would the deposit be for something like that?

I've been following this with great interest....:surfweb: wanted to do a crossing, but if April and September are correct... I'm out. DH teaches :teacher: and can't go then. So I'm thinking Med, changeover cruise, first Baltic. Anyone have the old DVC charts for the Med cruises??? I'm thinking maybe I could use points for at least that section.

Subscribing....and crossing my fingers for at least one or ywo med cruises in 2010!!

We were initially thinking we'd book one of the Baltics, but we'll have a just turning 1 year old, and I'm not sure leaving them behind for two weeks is the best idea. Hopefully once we get the new ships the Med and Baltic will continue and we can do it then. I have to say that the 10 and 11 night Christmas and New Year cruises have us intrigued, though! While we wouldn't want to bring the baby on a European cruise, we'd have no problem with all 3 of us doing a Caribbean itinerary. Can't wait for October 7th!

I found the 2007 Med/TA points Charts online about a month or so ago. I printed them out, but the url is not complete on the bottom. I tried to pull them up again, but the site says the page no longer exists. funny thing! HOWEVER, since I have a hard copy, I recreated the chart for anyone who's interested:

Thanks a bunch for all that work, typing the point chart!! I really appreciate the info... gives me a chance to pre-plan a bit. I know they'll probably be more points.. but this is close enough to estimate. :thumbsup2

I was at WDW over the weekend, and came back to read these interesting new rumors! Where on earth did they come from? In any event - it will be interesting to see what DCL has in store for 2010. I think there are going to be some bargains in the Caribbean in 2009!

Am I to understand the dates, ports, & prices will be announced on Oct. 7 and reservations will open on the 21st? Help please!

That's what we're hearing. I do hear that Disney will be making an announcement on Oct 6th. Will this be the itineries - we'll know soon!

Hi Dylan's mom, how are you guys? How is Dylan doing? If the timing is right we are thinking about taking the Magic home. Are you thinking about going?

Hi!! Our wonderful tablemate!!! How are you doing & how is your family? Dyl is good -- he's a senior this year - yikes. We are definitely interested in these -- but maybe Baltics in June?? If they start then...!

Definitely needed to subscribe to this one! We were thinking of doing another Disney cruise summer 2010. We went on the Med Cruise with Disney summer 2007 (Hi, Patricia!) and it was AWESOME!! Can't wait to hear more info about the 2010 cruises! :dance3:
