2010/2011 Armed Forces Salute Tickets

So, I priced it out and it looks like it would be a little cheaper for us to buy all 6 of the military salute tickets and each of us use 2. (It is me, dh, and dd(3)) Can you do that? When they ask for names and birth dates, is it okay if they are duplicated? I just want to make sure before I plan on doing it this way! Thanks!

Lola Kisses: I was told you could only use one per person. . .I am still trying to figure out the best way to purchase 3, 7 day park hoppers. It looks like I'll just get the regular pass from MWR. Let me know if you find something different!

I don't know about this year, but last year I was able to get 2 passes in my name and both were activated at same time.

After going through this thread a little bit. I'm still a little confused. If you buy the six tickets at Disney then you can purchase them in separate groups but if you try to buy one at Disney and then try to purchase the rest at a ticket office, you might have problems getting the rest at the ticket office?

Situation is I'm going to DW with friends in military who already have annual passes. They mentioned they wouldn't mind letting me use one ticket while I'm with them but they do want to make sure they can then purchase tickets for Disneyland later next year for their whole family. My concern is the Disneyland tickets have to be purchased ahead of time from their base and if they see they've already used one ticket...

1. The tickets for WDW and DLR are not linked.

2. The military bases have no record of what has transpired at a Park.

3. When activated (or puchased) at a Park Ticket or Guest Relations window is when the identifying information is put in the system

Thank you Cheshire Figment!

The problem is not the buying of the tickets on a military installation or SoG. The problem is with buying them at a WDW ticket window or activating the tickets which were purchased elsewhere.

The limit is not more than six tickets will be activated under one military ID. And to do six the service member must be present. If the service member is not present, the Spouse may only activate up to five tickets. And the ticketing system keeps track of the number of tickets by service member. (The only exception to this is if the service member has more than five dependents and all are present at the same time and all age 10 or older have a DD1173 showing them as dependents of the service member.)

I am the spouse of an active duty military member. I activated 3 of these tickets on our trip this past week but before I activated any of them I asked specifically about whether or not my husband HAD to be the one to activate them since we had already purchased 6 from MWR and I didn't want any difficulties in being able to activate all 6. The ticketing CM at the TTC assured me repeatedly that the military member OR the spouse could activate all 6 tickets. She referred to papers in her booth with the information before activating them.

DH does have 6 legal dependents since we have 5 children (plus me as the spouse) so I guess technically we could purchase 1 more ticket and have it activated if we need it, correct? What proof do we need to show WDW that DH has that many legal dependents? Would our DEERS paperwork suffice?

With more than five dependents all must be present at the same time and all the tickets activated at the same time. I have no idea what "DEERS Paperwork" is, but I have only seen information related to military ID cards, including the DD1173.

DEERS is our TriCare or military insurance papers that list all of DH's dependents - all 6 of us are covered under TriCare.

We won't be needing the other 3 tickets until a later trip - either our February or September trip - so I sure hope there won't be any problem activating the rest of them then.

I've looked around to see if this has been answered, but haven't seen anything.

We are going to DW in May, for just a few days and I have been trying to price out options. I know I can get very good deals on rooms (my grandmother is a Florida resident), but I am trying to see what ticket deals are available.

My grandmother, who is going with us, was married to my grandfather, who served in WWII, and has since passed away (naturally at an old age). IF she happens to have some sort of military I.D. still (I have no idea if she does or what she would have), would she and us (a total of 5 people), qualify for the discounted tickets and/or room discount?

Thanks!!

Did your Grandfather retire from the military - meaning serve his 20 years? If so then your Grandmother would have a dependent ID. If he was a WWII vet and not a retiree I am not sure if his spouse would be entitled to any benefits. My Dad is a WWII Navy Vet and receives some health insurance benefits from the military so he has some sort of ID for this but my mother never had any sort of ID that I am aware of or access to his military benefits from the VA since he didn't retire.

Call your Grandmother and ask her if she has any form of military ID.

Florida resident discounts are usually pretty close to if not better than the military discounts on rooms.

Thanks! I am pretty sure he just served a bit in WWII, so she probably doesn't have anything. It won't hurt to ask though. They have good deals on rooms for residents, just not on tickets. Won't stop me from going though!

Thanks!!

She would need to have a current Dependent ID Card (DD-1173) showing her as either Spouse or Unremarried Widow.

My mother-in-law purchased vouchers for us for Christmas to use this weekend. She does not plan on going to the parks with us, so we were going to go to the IOG entrance on Saturday with her to activate the tickets, but not start using them until the next day. We don't have to use them the day that they are activated, right? Those four days are good until September 1st is what I understood the rules to say. Including the four days of water parks that we have on the tickets as well. Just want to make certain that I understand correctly.

Thanks in advance.

You are correct in they do not have to be used on the day they are activated.

The following is a "canned" response modified for the Armed Forces Salute 2010/2011 tickets with the assumption you have both the Park Hopper and Water Park Fun and More (WPF&M) options.

Hopefully this will make it a little clearer. In effect you have two tickets with different privileges on one card. Everything expires at Midnight on October 1, 2011. Even if you use up all your major park days, the WPF&M entries remain valid until used or 10/01/11. (Note you do not have to use the days consecutively.)

You have four days of access to the four major parks (AK, DHS, EC, MK), and may visit more than one major park on a single day without any extra charges. Without the Park Hopper option you can only go to one major park per day.

You have four entries to the minor parks (BB, DQ, OT, TL, WWS). These may or may not be used on the same days as you go to the major parks. However, if you went to TL in the morning, Oak Trail in the afternoon, and Disney Quest in the evening of one day you would have used three of the four entries. (Note that leaving and returning to the same minor park on the same day does not use an extra entry.)

If you go to minor parks only on one day and do not go to a major park you do not use up one of your major park days.

If you were to go to a Water Park in the morning and then one of the major parks for the remainder of the day you would have used one minor park entry and one day of major park entry.

Note that with the ticket unless you have the hopper option you can only go to one major park per day. Unless you have the WPF&M option you cannot go to a minor park without upgrading or purchasing a separate ticket.

I was going to purchase the tickets for use this weekend as well, but there are black out dates for the holidays. I'm sure you've checked and have everything under control, but I would hate for you to go in expecting to use them and find out that you can't on that particular day!

The poster should be OK as they don't plan to use them until Sunday. The blackout dates are December 27 through December 31, so they should be fine activating them on Saturday (January 1) and using them on Sunday (January 2). But it is good to remember those black out dates this week -- and after that, the next blackout dates are April 17 through April 23.

Sorry if this question is double. I tried to skim the whole thread.

I was able to purchase a military ticket while visiting with a friend this past December. I am now going again in August. Can I upgrade the military ticket at that time to an annual pass or is too late since it's 14 days past the original use?

You can upgrade the ticket to an AP any time during the period of validity, even if it is completely used up. However, the AP will have an expiration date in December, one year from the date of first use of the ticket you are upgrading from.

Can a Military family take advantage of this deal at both Disneyland and Disney World?

We used the deal for Disney World this past Nov. and now my parents are talking about taking the family to Disneyland in the next 6 months! :cool1: So, it would be an added bonus if we can take advantage of the Military Salute for Disneyland.
