Each time I've gone to the site lately, I'm told that Disney isn't taking reservations for my dates (Jan 2009). That's just under a year away, why am I unable to at least see the rates?

Well, I called Disney this morning. The CM said they release rooms & rates about 6 months prior to any given date. That means I can't book a January trip until August of this year. The CM did give me a quote with this years rates, being very clear with the whole subject to change line.
Regardless, hubby asked me why I had ASM, January dates & $$ written down. When I told him I was planning a long weekend trip with our duaghter & me best friend he wasn't the happiest camper. That being said, he did agree to go back to Disney next April instead! Yippee!! Sure the crowds will be MUCH heavier, but I'll get to spend more than 3 days in the parks.

By the way, just in case you don't have the link, you can visit http://www.timeanddate.com/date/dateadd.html to count back any number of days (499, 180, etc) from your planned departure date.

Us too. We're waiting for Thanksgiving week. Our daughters 4th birthday will be on Dec 2 so we will stay at least through that. We are thinking 10 days.

I just started the Dave Ramsey's total money makeover this Jan. I will not return to Disney until I am debt free and have the cash saved for the entire cost of the trip, including airfare.

I don't expect to go back until Sept. of 09. So count me in for the free dining plan offer for Sept. 09! and wish me luck.

When I spoke to WDW CM this past week, I was told they'd likely start booking for April 2009 at the beginning of March 2008. This vacation is only 404 days out from today, well under the 499 mark. Do they release them in big chunks of months beginning on Dec 31?

I think they release them in an odd manner. I have my reservation for April 2009 already. I made it towards the end of Dec. It is at the Poly concierge level. It is not what I really wanted, just wanted a lagoon view but they had not released those rooms yet. So I took the concierge room and will see what I want to do once the other rates are released. So, depending on where you want to stay, I would think that the rooms would be released. I would try calling back. Sometimes the CM's just don't know.

Hmmm, I've called twice now and both times have been told that they haven't released the rooms for April 2009... I don't think the first person even asked me what resort that I wanted to stay in. This is so frustrating! I just want to book my week so I'm sure I end up with what I want. I think I'll start calling every morning on my way to work until they open it up.

We have finally settled on dates for next year ~ August 30 to September 4, 2009. We are really hoping for Free Dining again (no AP or AAA discounts for us so Free Dining is perfect in our case!).

Well we debated about going the week after christmas in 2008 but we finally decided to do the week after Easter in 2009. WDW HERE WE COME APRIL 2009 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WE CAN'T WAIT.

I've spoken to WDW CM again on the phone. You can book room only for April 2009 now OR she said I could call back in the beginning of March & should be able to book a package. She did say that it would be with this year's rates, subject to change, blah-blah-blah.

The downside is that I just checked the 2009 calendar, wondering when is Easter. Darnit!! We'll depart WDW on April 11th & Easter is the next day. In 2006 & 2007 we were there the week before & the week after Easter. This year, we aren't going to Disney and our Spring Break doesn't coincide with Easter at all. Why can't I get this timing better??? I want a Spring week without the Easter crowds. Sigh....

I'll join in on the wait! I'm going dec 28 2009 thru jan 4 2010---a really long wait. When I book my package, can I call back later to apply a code? I been getting codes for a while in the mail, just haven't needed them.

We are planning on going the week of labor day 09. I can not wait. Hoping for free dinning. This time I think we are going to stay at POFQ.
