Question for you April planners.... I haven't had time really to look at it, but I'm wondering if there were any major changes to the April schedules for 2009 from the 2008 ones? Just wondering what to expect for May. Thanks for any thoughts!

For those of you who have already bought tickets, what prices (in comparison) are you coming up with? My first trip 2003 I paid $189 total for a round trip 2005 was $226 total... I'm wondering if I can geet a good buy this year.

tikkipoo - I find prices are a lot higher this year. For March break in 2008 I paid $290 each from Detroit to Orlando. That was a really good price because it is usually $350 for the times we like to fly.

For March 2009 - same flights were $550 :scared1: :scared1: and have only come down to $485 range.

Good luck.

I think you just need to be diligent and keep an eye out. We paid 209 round trip for our upcoming April trip. It was a sale that Delta had back in June for those flights. The prices now for the same flight are LOTS higher. I was looking every day once the tickets were released and was thrilled to get this price. So far the flights have not changed and hopefully nothing too drastic will happen in the next 6 months.

The other option is to change when you fly to reduce the price to something you are willing to pay. We are flying out later in the day and a couple days earlier. I would rather spend the extra on hotel than air.

We just paid $125+tax RT from DFW for our Aug '09 trip. As soon as we decided to go to DW, I started watching airfarewatchdog. I actually wasn't expecting to find something so cheap so early... but once I did, I just couldn't pass it up! :)

Good luck to you!

I watch Airfarewatchdog too! I actually watch it from 3 different airports. Detroit is my main, then Chicago, and Cleveland. I love that site. I've seen $125 r/t for us too. I just hope it keeps up that way. Can't buy my ticets yet.

O.K. Please explain I need cheap airfare too. I would be looking at Akron/Canton, Cleveland or Pittsburg. Thanks:goodvibes

Airfarewatchdog is best if your travel dates are a bit flexible... Go to the site, punch in your "home" airport and click to see the list. Typically nearby airports are also shown.

I see a Cleveland rate of $135+tax RT right now for Northwest - looks to be the same deal we did - travel days are M, Tu, W, or Thursday and must occur by 9/2/09. It's easiest to click on the Travelocity link when you are viewing the details of the deal. It lets you know when the deal is not available for the departure or return dates you select...

For us it was worth it to switch our days around to accomodate the cheap airfare. We actually added two days this way and even with added lodging cost still come out about $600 ahead of my original budget!

Hope that helps and good luck!

Darn, I really wish DH would fly. We're about 20 mins from the Cleveland airport, those are reasonable prices!

Grace! It's you!!! Small world this DIS place is. I would use Pittsburg as your home airport. I find that MOST of the time airfare can be cheaper out of larger airports. Now, I have found that airfare out of Chicago is more than Detroit. How far are you from Detroit? I find really good airfare from there. We have found good fares out of Columbus too. We are lucky enough in NW OH to have several airports to choose from. Sometimes it's worth the drive to save several hundred dollars on airfare. Good luck.
