2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

Hi everybody!! I am new here and I found this tread for 2009 :) I am going to WDW Jan 20-27 for the first time and am sooooooooooo excited. :goodvibes I have been trying to read all the posts on this thread...all the way back to 2007 WOW. I started planning Jan 2008 and my family thinks I am nuts.

MelXThree - I don't think it's necessary to read all the posts. Just start from here! Welcome to our club! :thumbsup2
:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:
You know, I was thinking about this whole "Celebrations" thing. Do you think it will bring on a whole new reason to get a fake ID? Wonder how much those suckers cost:idea:

I am thinking the same thing (wish I knew where that guy in high school who had one went?) We are celebrating my sons birthdays while we are their but their birthdays are then end of jan and the end of feb.

And Welcome MelXThree, it seems the closer we get the more people are joining this thread:banana:
I have been one who has been in since 2007 - there has been some talk of my friends and family doing an intervention with me.
Now I am back to planning my second day, does anyone now when Disney will release the dates for the Pirates and Princess Party?

HEY! I wanna join your club too!! We are going in Feb. and my co-workers are already sick of hearing the word Disney. They have never been there and the just don't get it!! We will be at POP. My Parents, husband and DS 5. It is DS's 1st time. Hubby and I haven't been there sence our honeymoon in 2002. My Folks have been there over 25 times, starting with there honeymoon in 1972. This will be their first time staying on property. (We had to strong arm my dad into that one) I've got adr's for the royal table lunch, Whispering canyon dinner, H&V fantasmic dinner show, Raglan road in DTD, Pirate cruise for my DS. Tusker house breakfast with Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, H & V breakfast with playhouse disney charaters, and Temp Edo (sp?) Dinner in Epcot. Our flight out of Philly is at 6:35 am. Am I nuts or what? I have 133 days left and I don't think I can wait that long!!!

:cheer2: WELCOME :cheer2:

Sounds like you are already to go! It was a great experience taking each of my kids for their first trip to WDW, here it is years later and they still can't wait to go back :) .

How on earth am i gonna make it? I still have over 400 days left to go and i am already going nuts with planning. I read dining reports, have notes written to myself all over my desk, and of course have driven my hubby around the bend with all my plans. Major kink in our holiday seems to be developing, it appears that hubby is developing Chron's (google it details are kinda icky for here) and that will put a real brake on the eating for us. Won't make dining plan of any sort worth the money if i have to say "bring me the steak & lobster and for him clear broth with a side of plain bread please" We are planning on doing the deluxe plan at the moment - keep your fingees crossed for him as he undergoes all these upcoming tests please.

Less than 180 days for me....still can't make ADL's yet :sad2: , but love the idea that my son will go in for free on his Birthday, and hopefully that day will be a Pirate night!!!

have a great day everyone

I'm at 390 days to go. Need to decided where to eat, we're planning on a lot of family style and buffets since our 1 and 3 year and mom are so picky.

Hello everyone. I haven't been around here much lately. My next step in planning is the airfare. Our dates should open up in about a month. Then I will just watch daily and when the price falls within my budget I will be buying them up. Only 353 more days!!!!

OH KNOW.... that sounds terrible. I know someone at work that has it and it is not pleasant. Hopefully they can help your DH so you can get planning, but he still may have to take it easy for a while. At least you still have plenty of time until you go and have DH try different foods before leaving.
Here's some Pixie Dust :tinker:

We started planning our May 2009 trip one week after returning from our May 2007 trip, and I think that when we return in May 2009 we hopefully will plan of 2010. These websites/discussion boards sort of pacify my craving for Disney!:surfweb:

Hi, my 14 year old daughter was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at age 11. Although there are different degrees in severity, we thankfully have found the disease to be manageable with medication. Hopefully you will find this too! As a mother, it is difficult to see your child suffer with any ailment, but I just keep telling myself it could always be so much worse! Good luck to you and your husband.

Good Morning '09er's!!!

Not much new in the way of planning for us. Watching flights like a hawk, also comparing the cost of driving versus flying. I didn't even CONSIDER driving last year (18 hour drive versus 2.5hr flight), but I have considered it for next year. :confused3

Anyone else considering driving next year?

We won't be driving simply because we live so far away but has anyone ever considered taking a train and if so is it expensive? We will probably fly in
April but airfare is just so high. My sister gave us 260,000 marriott points to stay at the Marco Island Marriott for seven nights. It is normally $550 a night but we can't go because we can't afford airfare there for five!!!

We are considering driving next June 2009. We live in Pittsburgh PA and USAir discontinue non stop flights to Florida. I will be watching SouthWest but that is now our only air option. We bought a new vehicle just a month ago so that would be a plus if we drive.

Not driving. We are considering the train, it's going to depend on what we can get airfare for.

We are planning on driving and if we find a great airfare then it will be a nice surprise. We have to pay for five now and flying really takes too much of our vacation budget.
We are going to visit Universal too so a car will be nice to have anyway.:drive:

Driving will take 19-20 hours and the flight will take 2.5 hours but I really can't pay $1600 just for air. Also many direct flights are gone, I really don't want to have to connect.

We will be driving b/c DH doesn't fly. It's about 19 hours total time, with stops, straight through. We're in the Cleveland, OH area. Last time we did straight through in both directions and the way back was awful. This time we'll go right through on the way down, we leave about midnight, putting us there about 7 PM. We'll make a stop on the way back. We'll leave WDW about noon/1 on a Friday, so even if we still have a good drive on Saturday, we still have Sunday to recoup. I'm trying to talk DH into taking an additional day off at the beginning of the trip, and sleeping all day, while the kids are at school. He plows snow all winter, resulting in a very odd schedule, so sleeping during the day he has no problem with. That way we could leave around 5 or 6 PM, drive straight through the night and arrive in the afternoon instead of at night. We'll see...but I doubt he will.

I would LOVE to fly (even though I don't really like it, but I'll do it) just to be there/back in 2.5 hours!!!
