2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

I WOULD LOVE a copy of the questions and brochure if you're willing to share.
We will be at WDW the last week of October Next year. I was there in 2006 but someone else did all the planning... err lack there of..
ANYWHO, this time I AM IN CONTROL... ROFL it will be My family DH(36) ME(31) DS(11) DS(almost7) DD(4) Baby?? My parents and then I am wanting to ask my brothers and their family's My one brother and his wife don't have kids but they often bring her little sister to family events, and my other brother has two kids same ages as my youngest two and will possibly also have a baby next year :) my Oldest 1/2 bro will be there with his family of four kids will be 13 and 10. They are major Disney bugs but the rest of my family has never been to Disney so they are the ones I need to convince, my mom would really like for us to all go on vacation together and I think it would be super fun. I just have to figure it all out. Regardless of their plans tho, My family and parents will be going WOO HOO!
This weekend we will be sitting down with my MIL and G'MIL (and possibly more) to discuss our WDW family trip. I am trying to compile a list of questions along with a "brocure" of sorts to bring along. I would feel even better if I could just do a power point presentation on our vacation planning, but I don't have the proper equiptment.(Yes, I know I'm ridiculous and they will think so too - but I have a problem:surfweb: and they know that about me and love me anyway)
Anyway, throw me a few suggestions of things I might be missing to ask or to show them. We are planning on going in October 09 and staying at POR - I think. I will be in charge of planning the entire trip for everyone.

Thanks and have a magical day!

mickimousemama - Everything I have is hand written. But I will type it up and send it to you! Your vacation sounds like lots of fun if you can get it going! Good luck with that! :wizard:

We are going this afternoon to meet with everyone. I don't even know what to expect.
Question:
I was looking at POFQ's map. Is Building 1 a very long way from the bus station? I guess in comparison to the walk at POR is what I'm asking. I am thinking that maybe for Gma's sake, we might choose POFQ instead because it doesn't seem like as much walking to the buses. ??? :confused3

POFQ is beautiful! We love both of the PO resorts quite simply for the proximity to DD and the availability of the river trasportation. The grounds are gorgeous at both resorts and FQ is a lot smaller than POR. The food court and general store are smaller too, but you can get the souvies that you can't find there at any of the parks or DD. I would love to go to Disney with my family, but it's just a matter of planning and getting everyone to agree. Planning is half the fun!

I WOULD LOVE a copy of the questions and brochure if you're willing to share.

For my brochure, I put together a binder - Map of POR/FQ, info on hotel, pics and menus. Maps of each park and menus. At the end I put extra info - MNSSHP, Hoop Dee Doo etc for prices and info.
Questions ended up being simple - when to go, where to stay, what to do together, is everone okay with the bus system and not a rental.

Turns out for me that most of the family isn't up for a week long vacation, so they will be flying in on Wed night. Works for me!

One suprise is that an uncle doesn't want to go to the parks, but he wants to golf. I don't golf, so I didn't think about it. I had to look up that info too.

Do they realize how big WDW is, or are they just not wanting to vacation that long?

I know before I started planning our first trip I thought we could do it all in 4/5 days! :rolleyes1

I hear you on the "works for me" though, I have some friends and family planning on joining us for part of our trip and they've all said they aren't staying the whole two weeks just 5/6 days!!! :cool1: That way I'm sure to get alone time with my kids. :grouphug:

We will be there May 10th.... and it couldn't come soon enough!

They don't have a clue. All I can do is try. :teacher:

Time alone with just "my family" is going to be great. You know, with all that there is to do and see, that you aren't going to be able to please everyone.

I hear ya, sista!:thumbsup2

I have made my very first ADR for our trip - March 12th at Chef Mickey's :cool1: :cool1:
MK closes at 7pm that night so I am hoping that it's a princess and pirate party night
the 12th is going to be the day that we celebrate my youngest son's birthday - we are going to go to Blizzard Beach in the AM and then back to the hotel for a little while and then to Chef Mickey's and Hopefully to the Princess and Pirate Party (he has planned the day out).

This is the only day that I have really thought out thought I would share.

Sounds like a GREAT day!!!:thumbsup2 We did the PP party last year and we had a ball!!! I don't think it will be available for our next trip but I have a couple other ideas up my sleeve. :rolleyes1

That's the same kind of plan that I have used for the MNSSHP day. Worked out great!

We will be there at the same time too....we are going the last week of October and the first week of November. We are going for two weeks, because every other time we have gone has only been a week and we are never "satisfied" with our time there or the lack there of.....LOL We too are going with a big crowd but we are doing a grand gathering. You might want to look into that. They give you options for activities that normally you wouldnt be able to do. We are camping at fort wilderness when we go and there will be 7 or so trailers/motor homes with about 30 people so it will be fun. What we have already decided was that we would do two big dinners together as a group, like the character meals or a dinner show and then its a "do your own thing" deal. We went in 2006 with another family with kids that were a few years younger than mine and we felt like we were held back because the other kids couldnt do certain things or we had to leave the park early for bed times and naps. My kids have been going to disney since they were in utero and have done very well at all ages......your kids ages were the ages that mine were when we went in '06 and they had a blast. So, with all that said, I am sorry to ramble on and on......have a wonderful time planning!!!:cool1:

:wizard: :wizard: I am sooo excited they have announced the new theme for 2009, "Celebration Vacation". We are traveling in October 2009 with our extended family and the theme fits our family "celebration" perfectly. I just wish we had a birthday during our trip.
I haven't posted on our 2009 thread for some time now, but am still lurking and reading. Our trip is just over 1 year away, so I have started some planning now. I am just so afraid that with the economy, something is going to happen and we will have to cancel our trip. I guess everybody that plans so far in advance worries about this though. Hope everybody is having fun planning!

So what is the new themes "deal"......do you know if they are doing anything special for the year? I didnt know that they had announced it yet....but I am glad to know now! Any info you have would be great or if you have a place that I can go to take a peek. Thanks!

Thanks for putting the link in tikkipoo. You get up much earlier than I do!
Mrsscooter, it looks like the best deal is on your birthday, but we don't have a birthday over our trip. I think the decorations and the new activities will be fun!

We have changed our trip plans. Originally there was suppose to be 13 of us going in August but everyone else pulled out. My husband and I decided we still wanted to go so we switched our days to October of 2009 and decided to go down as a birthday trip, we'll arrive on his birthday and leave on mine (though I'm trying to extend the trip by a day).
