2009 Discussion-We'll make time fly by!

okay..... so 1 week will be spent at a windsor hills town-home (still waiting on the rebate check for my deposit)
and now I am deciding where to spend the 2nd week.

wondering if I should stick with old faithful (Fort Wilderness cabin) which we love
or try somewhere new (All Star Music Suites) which- I think we are ready for a change

anyone stay at All Star Music suites ? ....with good or bad comments, love to hear 'em. It seems like it would fill up easier since it's newer and not that many of them

love the planning

isn't it so hard to decide? we loved the cabins too. I haven't stayed in a value yet, but the all stars sound great. we love POR and have stayed there 2-3 times and have a hard time trying anywhere else. I tried CBR last time and was disappointed and missed my POR, so sometimes the old favorite is good. but i hate to miss out on new things too. We are doing WL for our first time ever!! I can't wait.....oh wait, yes i can, for a year and a half......dang it is a long wait til dec 09!

We were slipping to the bottom of the page so pushing us back up.

Anyone else scared to death what airfare will be when we can finally book for our 2009 trips? I sure hope things turn around soon so I can have fun planning our trip instead of worrying if I should really be spending the money.

um.....YES !:scared1: We go in July and have driven and flown. We have been lucky with July dings from southwest. Not counting on that luck for the next trip though. It makes it so much easier with kids, traveling from New England. But, we'll get there one way or another. (not that gas prices to drive are any better)
think happy thoughts think happy thoughts think happy thoughts

I'm scared to death of airfare! I've been looking at its between $3600 to $8000 for the 4 of us:scared1: I'm really hoping it comes down. I don't plan on buying tickets until September time frame, so I do have some time.

I have most of the trip already paid for and sitting in a savings account luckily but if it keeps getting worse I keep asking myself if I should put the trip off. I don't think my DH will let me but it will always be in the back of my mind. I will still book as soon as the packages are released this summer and then hope for great prices on airfare.

I'll be going June of 2009! My 21st birthday is 6/2/09, and so I plan to get there probably a day or two before. I just want to do the whole MK then PI thing! I did it in 2006 at age 18, but back then only a few of our group were 18 and could get into the clubs, and right after that I believe it changed to age 21, and therefore none in my party of six could go to most of the clubs this past January.

..Although, I did get in the Neon Armadillo as a very young kid, after my mom nicely explained to security I just adored Karen from Step by Step and just hadddd to see where she sang! :rotfl: He gladly let us in to look around for a bit, since it was the afternoon, or my mom was just very convincing!

Anyways! I'm also going to try to sneak in a January 09 trip as well, I went this past January 6th-12th and it was perfect weather and crowd conditions!

I am right with you! We are travelling in August and can't buy our tickets until October... but I think I may get them then even if they are on the high side because I fear them getting even higher:scared1:

Luckily we don't have airfare to worry about, but the price of gas sure is killing me. About $4/gallon here now. DH and I are hoping it will go down a bit before our beach trip in August. I have read some reports of a fairly major decrease in 2009/2010. Hopefully somewhat before our May trip! Still, as much as I hate the high prices, it really isn't that HUGE a difference even for a long trip (not to make/break the trip I mean), just means I need to put a bit more aside, maybe cut back on a few other things here and there.

We always fly Southwest, so my hands are pretty much tied until next summer when I'm hoping for a ding. If the prices are too bad, we'll just drive, we've done it before. It's not the ideal situation, but I'd rather drive than not go at all. Our local grocery store sells Southwest gift cards, I've been thinking about buying them now and saving them since they don't expire. It's all a waiting game and I'm tired of waiting. Come on 2009!

Yep - airline tickets are nuts for next year. Usually it runs about $300-$350 if you book this far in advance but 2009 is showing $550 :scared1: :scared1:

We might have to consider driving down! :scared:

Hello there! Newbie to DIS and just making my way around the board! Found this thread and happy to join in (makes me feel like I'm doing something!) We're planning a trip late Sept 2009 for DS 10th bday on Sept 29th. We plan on staying at POR. The past 2 trips, we've done ASMo and POP so we thought we would give moderate a try.

As other 2009 planners, you can probably tell me the earliest I can expect to book my trip?

Welcome!!! You can book room only now (if you are under 499 days) and then when the rates come out your price will be adjusted. If you want a package those are usually released in August.

splah- you can book room-only (via the phone) at 500 days from your arrival date. So that's probably coming up soon. Packages typically are released in early August. If you want a package, I'd probably just wait till then since it's still over a year before your trip.

Oh, and welcome!!!!

Oh, we could be hitchhiking with gas prices and airline tickets that high :scared1:  :scared:

Can anyone help me out with soem Grand Gatherings info? We are going Dec 2009 and there are 9 of us and we might want to do this. Also, anyone know if there are any bunk bed rooms at WL that are in the "bear face"?

Thanks for the info! As much as I would LOVE to go ahead and book the room just to have a reservation, I think I will wait till I can do the package. *sigh*

We have done a grand gathering - last year and this coming year in Feb. There are more than 20 of my DH's side of the family and some of my family. :grouphug: We all booked through AAA and our TA had a GG # assigned for our ressies so they are linked together. We had the DDP and booked our ADRs through Disney group dining. We stayed at CSR and they granted our building request and had our rooms close together - most of them right next to each other. We did not participate in any of the GG events (most cost extra, or cost 2 dining credits). I do not know about the accommodations at WL, sorry!

So what are all the 2009 people up to today? I am sitting here getting caught up on all the Disney boards I am on and listening to DISRadio.

We go to San Diego in two weeks on vacation and I just can't get excited about it. Would rather sit here and dream about our Disney vacation.
