2009 Dine Packages Available in August

Why January 11th? I find that an odd date - why not right at the start? We are going Jan 5-10th before we cruise and I was hoping to add the new CS dining plan -but guess I won't be :(

I was just going to post this same question. The dining plan has always been available for all year long.

if the changes for the U.S. are the same as for the U.K., there are no changes to the basic & deluxe (except the price up a little.) So the big change will be the additional choice of the counter service plan.

Do you happen to know what the regular dining plan (1CS/1TS/1snack) cost is going to be? (As on the UK site)

ALmost thinking (if the CS plan is really onlky $26) that it may be worth it to do that and then just pay OOP for the TS meal. That way, no pressure to have to order the most expensive item on the menu or to order a dessert, if you don't want one. (No flames - haha We just aren't huge dessert fans!)

January 11th is probably long enough to miss most New Years holdovers so they aren't on two different plans during their stay.

At $26 that means I'm paying $12 a day more for a TS vs CS meal. I really liked Boma and Coral Reef a lot more than Peco Bill's and I'm on vacation, hmm. I'm not valuing the resort mug because I drank so much water at WDW it wouldn't make that much difference for me. Also at those TS place I could get unlimited refills.

Having this plan and having to pay OOP for character meals sort of defeats the paid for in advance scenario for me. Also I loved the TS dining so I'd be pressed to skip it when staying at WDW.

I think families really budgeting would love this plan and Disney still has a chance to upsell them to another plan once they get a taste of the fully paid for WDW trip. Good move on Disney's part.

Oooohhh, I'm subscribing so I can keep updated. I think we would like that option. Can't wait to see more information!

Ah, but that's assuming that the regular dining plan stays the same price. I heard somewhere that (on the UK site) the regular dining plan is going up to about $50. (Unsure as to if they added appetizer and tip back into that or not). To make it worth the value at $50, you figure table service is worth about $13-14, snack about $4 so you'd have to have at least $32 worth at the TS to make it work. I guess, for me personally, some of our character meals are bkfst (less than $20) with maybe a night at Chefs de France or somewhere NOT a buffet.

Anyhow, for me, it depends on the new pricing of the regular dining plan. Just a few days (LONG days...haha) and we'll all know!

Ok here is my wish, 2cs and 1ts per day, 1-2 snacks(whatever) I can not commit to 3 ts a day(deluxe) with my ds, but we do eat 3 meals per day. I do enjoy the savings but I also love having it all payed for in advance. I seem to fall through the cracks of all plans, I guess I will just stay with the basic and plan to pay oop when needed, anyone else like my dinning wish plan?

We had the regular ddp last year and loved it. I wish they would go back to it, even if they up the price a little. Not sure about this new cs only plan gotta have some ts to sit back and relax a litte.

The above plan I think makes the most sense. Don't most people eat 3 times a day? With the basic we are stuck paying OOP or getting creative (ie-mk bakery, ordering a egg croissant, 1 muffin and a tea and splitting it among 2).

The deluxe seems great but I can't justify the increase. I just don't need 3 or even 2 TS per day. I want 2 on the go meals and 1 TS.

Awesome! Thanks for the info! I hope the rumors are true that App is back in the basic dining plan and tips are included in basic and delux!!

From what I heard (I think this was based on the UK Disney site) the new CS plan is going to be about $26US. So now I'm wondering....maybe it's better to go with 2CS/2Snacks per day and just pay OOP for any character or TS meals? Hmmmm...decisions, decisions!

This is what I am thinking for our WDW visit after a 4 day DCL cruise in February. I figure after four days of cruise ship food CS meals should be good, with a couple TS thrown in OOP.

Last year we tended to share a CS lunch and have a big TS dinner/buffet, and had some credits for breakfast left here and there. I think I only ended up buying 3 breakfasts and 2 snacks OOP.
This time we are going for a quick 5 nights before our cruise, and I don't want to be tied down to ADRs and long TS meals that will cut into our limited park time. We will only have 4 days in the parks. I would love the CS plan, but looks like it happens before we get there, so it will be OOP for me.
But I figure we usually share a lunch anyway and have some fun snacks, so it might work out less than the plan anyway, but I do enjoy having it all pre-paid!

Thanks for the info, DisneyDine. :woohoo: You have yet to be wrong about anything, I remember reading your thread about changes to the LTT and GG where everyone out-and-out called you a liar.....and lo and behold, you were right. I hope your job won't be in question for giving the DIS such good info!! LOL J/K

Thank you, and No, I wouldn't give out any information that I wasn't allowed to. Anything I report can be confirmed by calling the dine line. Just trying to hlep my fellow Disers. :)

Thanks for the info DisneyDine!!! Can you tell us anything about pricing for the Basic plan or is that a no-no for now? ;)

Thanks again!!
Carla

To answer some of the questions in the thread that I know the answers to.... January 11th is the day the 2009 packages go into effect because before that day the 2008 plans are still in effect. Some people who begin their trip in December on the 2008 plan carry that plan over into 2009. Does that make sense? Also, the date of August 3rd is tentative for booking the 2009 plans. When I re-read my original post I realized I left out that magic little word. ;) I have no information on what the new Dine plans will offer. As far as pricing on the new plans this is all I have.

Platinum Package:
Adult - for less than $200; Child - for less than $140

Premium Package:
Adult - for less than $150; Child - for less than $105

Wine and Dine:
Adult - for less than $40

Deluxe Dine
Adult - for less than $70; Child - for less than $20

Plus Dine
Adult - for less than $40; Child - for less than $11

Quick Service Dine
Adult - for less than $30; Child - for less than $9

Hope this is helpful.

You are so very helpful. Will you please post updated information as soon as you get it? I realize that, if August 3rd is the actual date, we may know just as soon as you know. Thanks a bunch!

Thank you, DisneyDine, for the info! It's nice of you to keep us in the loop when possible.

I will be doing a major happy dance if the regular dining plan is still less than $40! Someone once mentioned it was going up to around $50 and that wasn't going to make me happy! :wizard:

Anyone know what the Platinum and Premium packages are? Never heard of those....

THANKS!

Awesome DisneyDine!! :thumbsup2

@ Picabo: The Platinum and Premium packages have been available for quite a while. Basically includes everything from meals to every recreational option available.

OK, DisneyDine - the Jan. 11 date - does that mean that those of us going from Jan 3 and leaving in the 11th can still get the 2008 meal plan, with the same 2008 pricing? Or does it mean that we can't get a meal plan at all?
