2008, 24th/28th Aug - *Double Dipping with the Bahama Mamas* (Part 2)

Morning everyone!!
I am enjoying the live updates, it's great to hear how everyone is doing:goodvibes . I am hoping that Laurie is landing in Orlando as we speak and will make it to Vero safely:)
Jen thanks for the hourly updates, it makes me smile everytime!! I am hoping fay will blow through quickly for everyone andit will be "smooth sailing" for the rest of the week.

Danielle if you don't mind me asking what size buckets did you get for the boys and about how much was it? Do you get to pick what you want in the buckets or is it just whatever she has laying around? I was just thinking of doing this today. Thanks:lovestruc

I had her do a small sand bucket in a mesh bag for Keegan. It came with 4 drinks so I got 2 waters/2 caprisuns. I asked that cheetos and hot tamales candy plus whatever fruit snacks, etc. get added. His was $33. I did a medium size bucket for Brennan and that comes with 6 drinks.I did 4 waters, 2caprisuns and asked for cheetos, skittles and peanut butter cups plus whatever fruit snacks. I know she'll add a few other snacks plus some smaller sand toys. I heard her say he'd also get pirate tattoos. She said I could have his name painted on the bucket, but I declined since we didn't plan on bringing it home with us. We did medium size buckets on our other cruises and they were loaded with stuff and probably just a bit bigger than the size of a normal mopping bucket. There's a lot of grass/confetti stuffing in it to hold it all up and she makes it all look really pretty. Last cruise I had her add some glow necklaces and fancy Disney pens for a few dollars more. Brennan's was $37 and there was a $13 delivery charge to the stateroom (she said it's imposed by the port authority). I had her tie them together so I'd only get one delivery charge (she suggested this trick a few cruises ago)Total with tax was $88 something. I know it's expensive for a couple of buckets, but they'll get a lot of use out of it and some great snacks to have during the shows/movies. I'm sure if we bought 2 bucket sets a piece, a few waters and candy on the ship we'd pay the same price and get half.

Ok, so this isn't the best picture of the buckets, but you'll get the idea of what she does:

Laurie Made it! She says it is raining buckets... Glad she is safe!

Wow, just checked out the twopalms webcam...looks pretty nasty right now (Laurie said it was hard to see while driving). Hope Fay goes by quickly for everyone already down in FL (and so the seas calm down before we sail!!!)

Hey Bahama Mama's

You know me, it takes more than a Tropical Storm to ruin my day ;) We had a great day at Epcot. It rained on and off pretty much all day, but we made the Princess Storybook brekkie and thankfully at two important times of the day when it poured down, we were able to take shelter at the Rose & Crown or the CBR poolbar - phew !!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It is chucking it down now (pouring with rain ;) ), so we're having an early night

Our plans for tomorrow were SeaWorld, but we'll probably have a change around, as we can't risk missing Kraken, so we'll go later in the week

I think the rain and wind are going to pick up over the next couple of hours, and I've no idea what we'll do tomorrow - except for me & Paul going to Restaurant Marrakesh for dinner (and it'll have to be a Hurricane for me to miss that meal :rotfl: :rotfl: )

Laurie, I hope you got here safely and that you've dried off :rotfl: :rotfl:

Safe journey's to those of you travelling down tomorrow

Take care, and I'll pop on when I can - byeeeeeeeeeeee !!!! ~ See you very soon ::yes::

Hi Mandy - so glad you had a magical day! We hoping to get to Animal Kingdom for extra magic hours tomorrow night.

Laurie is there and safely tucked in at Vero Beach. I talked to her a couple times today. They were having a few room issues but hopefully those have been resolved.

We are headed out tomorrow at about 10:30 am for the airport. I called the airline tonight and so far it looks like we will be able to make it down tomorrow.

Travel safe to everyone headed out over the next few days!

Mandy, I'm glad to hear that Fay's rains aren't deterring you from touring the parks. We figure we'll just don our ponchos and go about our days if it's still raining when we get there.

Sandy, I'm glad your flight's on time. I'm hoping ours is as well on Thursday morning.

I'm having serious issues getting motivated to pack. I called my best friend and she did a cheer for me to get packing, but I'm still procrastinating. I'm totally excited about the trip, just can't muster up wanting to pack right now. I've had a couple of very exhausting days between work, laundry, football, school orientations plus company. We have our Amish friends coming to my parents tomorrow and they want us to come over for lunch. We have to drop Maggie off at her kennel, cut the grass, take Keegan to a football scrimmage and get to his orientation for 6th grade before heading to our hotel near BWI. Somewhere in there Derek and I both need to pack. I did manage to finish up payroll at work so I should be free and clear with work for a good while.

Ok, I guess I better get moving and at least start my piles up.

It is 1:47 am the packing is finished, not in the car yet, the work is not done so I will be bringing the lap top, perhaps I can accidently drop it overboard:rotfl2: , the kids are packed, the FE is sewn and packed and the gifts are packed ...2 duffle bags full, is anyone else this much of an over achiever..I love to shop! I have watched the womens gymnastics team and Shawn Johnson finally got her gold medal..yeah team!!!

Tomorrow we are taking Niki to paint her mural, then pack the car, pick up a donation for Becca's gymnastics team, I have to pay bills, drop Becca at Gymnastics and then Sami and Tom and I are off for NC We will stop there Thursday to rock hunt and should arrive in FL on Friday. We bumped up the trip a day early becasue of the threat of rain , so now we have Fri and Saturday in Coco Beach...who else is there??

Niki, Becca and the Gparents get on the train Friday in Philly and will be in Orlando Saturday afternoon. They are not doing any parks just DTD to shop since we are going back in Dec.

I hope everyone is having a good time and is staying safe. See ya all on Sunday!!

Diane

Drive safely Diane. 1:55 am here and I think I'm finally done packing. Now I'm obsessing over the weather. Who needs sleep right? I can always get a couple hours on the plane.

Well - Here I sit - it's 2:40 am, I made some teenager friends here in the lobby!! LOL

So - here is the low down of my day -

Got up at 3:30 am to head to the airport... We left the house at 4:30 - arrived at the airport, checked in, etc. Got on our 6:50 flight (on-time) - arrived at MCO, got our rental, luggage and off we went! The weather was on and off - at points it almost looked OK - so, we went to the outlets, hit the Disney store, and that was it - the weather started getting windy, so we hopped in the car, and headed down to Vero - FOR WHAT!?!?!?!?!?

Pouring rain, wind - what a mess it is ... I can't believe we are here in this mess!! Well Suz, I guess I am saving money on the chair rental, huh????

We got in our room, then we were moved because there was a funny odor AND I used extra points for an 'ocean view' to find a pool view w/a side view of the ocean - anway - we moved to another room, and it was ok - smaller, but OK, and a great view of the whipping waves and the windy trees, and the pouring rain - which I have pics of that I'll have to post when we get home...

So, we went to the best place in the hotel, the gift shop, did some looking around... went back to our room to find a FLOOD by the back door - water all gushy in the carpet... SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO we moved back to the non-ocean view smelly room, which they deodorized, so it was much better.... not happy w/the non-ocean view, but it's an ok room... and they were very apologetic (sp?) - anyway.. we made ressies at Shutters for dinner - UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh It was ok - limited selections - and Disney pricing ..I would've been happy w/Wendys or Chick fil a - but, they were discouraging people from leaving the resort... sooooooooooooo, we had no choice... After dinner, we went back to the shop and got the Lion King for rental - and put that in - needless to say - I was EXHAUSTED - so, I went to BED by 8... which is why I am up now - wide awake!!

I am hoping for the best for tomororw - but it's not looking good! I am at the point that I want to go HOME! But, we have the cruise on Sunday.. that is my only saving grace!!

I am going to make some calls tomorrow to see what can be done - Sandy suggested seeing if they'd transfer my points over to a resort at WDW - but, probably nothing to do there either!! LOL So, we'll see!!! They have activities for the kids - but, nothing my kids are into!!

So, this is what it is like at the beach in the rain................UGHHHHHHHH

We are hoping to at least get out to a store tomorrow to get waters/snacks or something... And hopefully get off of the property for dinner - I can't eat in this place again... we had originally hoped to get cereal and stuff for breakfast, cold cuts to make sandwiches for lunch, and head off property for dinner - there are only so many cheeseburgers you can eat at the grill by the pool - OH WAIT - that's closed, isn't it - because of the STORMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM...

Anyway - that's enough of my venting/ranting... it is what it is! And we need to make the best of it - but, at this point.. (3am) I am finding that hard to do!!

But - I wish all of you incoming cruisemates a safe trip in!! And I am SURE I'll be checking in again!! I am going to try to get some sleep - or maybe I'll go sit in my room and watch the weather forecast and get more depressed!! :scared1:

I REALLY can't wait to meet you guys on Sunday!! REALLY REALLY!!
Laurie

OH and - I forgot to mention that when we got back to our now odorless-non-ocean view room last night - there was a flood at the back door from the rain/wind.. so, I called the front desk - and again, apologizing all over the place - being I had unpacked at that point, told them I wasn't moving again -so, housekeeping came in and put towels on the floor to soak it up - so, there are towels all over my floor by the back door... and I have to tell you this, I was in my PJs, in bed when she came in and didnt even care...

I think I am going to have to pop some happy pills today, otherwise I might jump into the overflowing pool and drown myself!:scared1: Just kidding!! Oh, but wait - can't go outside.. KEEP forgetting! lol

Laurie

Hope all goes well w/your flight tomorrow! Oh, wait - I mean TODAY!!!!!
