2007-2008 cheer parent thread

We love jamfest. We usually do the one in Ft Lauderdale, but this year they moved it to Tampa. So much fun. Well run. Always on time. Not so crowded that I feel ok with dd being on her own. I am a bit of an overprotective mom and won't let her go cheer on another team from our gym without me. Jamfest last year was great. Love it. My fav of all the competitions.

We are doing that one this year!!!! Wish you were going!!!!

Our girls are looking really good as well. I owe my DD a trip to build a bear becuase she go her backhandspring and her roundoff backhandspring! She is so excited that she is going to be on the front line this year!

Our special needs team may be on National TV

One of the national news programs has contacted the gym to inquire about doing a story on them. Not completely confirmed yet, but it looks like a go!

If agreements are reached, they will have cameras out next week to film one of the practices And then again in 3 weeks to film the routine in uniform.

The kids are SO excited!

Nope, we aren't, they usually take the older squads from our gym.

So, it is official.

NBC Nightly News will be out on Sunday to shoot the special needs team. It is going to air sometime next week. We don't have the exact date yet though.

Should be interesting. We are going to shoot our practice first and then shoot the mock competition between our team and the other special needs team in the state.

We are going to have some pretty tired kids after 5 hours of cheerleading! It was supposed to be done over several weekends, but there were some conflicts with the Denver based camera crews.

it was a little cold - granted this is New England but the girls all had a great time

sorry the pics are big, I tried to resize and it did not work so well

DD is the flyer in the middle, who is at the top but looks as if she is still getting up

this is all towns combined - but only about a third of them as I could not fit any more in the picture!

dd again is the one in the middle on top, with arms at her side

and this is her and a friend just fooling around - dd is the little one on the right

Very cute!! They are pop warner right?? I wish it was cooler here I can tell by the pictures it is a little crisper!!! (Anything under 90 is crisp to me!! It is fall but is 90 degrees!!!!!! YUCK!!

I hope they had a BLAST at the jamboree!! Thanks so much for sharing the pictures!!!

Hello!! Wow, I have never seen this thread. As you can see in my siggy, I too am one of those "Cheer Moms" (plus I am from Texas so you know all the jokes about that!! ) I have two step daughters who did it for awhile and two little girls that are now involved. (well, the little one doesn't start till next year!) We have been involved in cheer since 2001 so I can barely remember a time when we weren't. Nice to see some other cheer parents on here as it is a huge part of our family!!

So what kind of team is your daughter on now?? Also what is the name of her team?
