2006ers - When are you going, where are you staying and how did you book your trip?

I'm SO happy to see this thread! I was feeling like a lone Disney planner since our next trip won't be until Fall of 2006 :earseek:
We are thinking of trying the first of November '06 instead of our usual pattern of late Sept/Oct.

After the stress of hurricane Frances during our last trip, and the hot temps,I'd love to have some cooler weather......even if it means paying more since we won't be in value season.

Oh, and we will definitely stay at WILDERNESS LODGEagain. DH says he isn't willing to stay anywhere else now that we have fallen in love with the Lodge :lovestruc

Now.......we just have to wait for '06 rates to be released.

We went in October '04 & loved that time of year. DD has a week of Fall break, so we don't have to miss school. The only problem with booking at this point, is that we don't know if break will be the first week of Oct, as in '04, or the second week, as it will be in '05. :confused3 But, after several stays at the ASMo, we are planning to try WL! :cheer2:

I'm ready to start planning!!!!!

We are planning our normal after Thanksgiving trip again. Since I have done the values and moderates I think next year is our step up to the big boys and staying at WL

Curious, what is "normal"? I also want to go after Thanksgiving but want to avoid the crowds of the Holiday. Do you know, does it calm down by the Wed/ Thurs after T-givng? Or do you need to wait 2 weeks?
Thanks for the help.

Oh, our normal means that is when we normally go. For our last 3 trips and this year we check in on Sunday after Thanksgiving and go during that week. It calms way down starting Sunday when a lot of people check out and more so by the Monday after Thanksgiving.

Although this is becoming a popular time and every year it gets a little more crowded. Still very managable though.

But change of plans on our part. Since our last trip this year will be December 1st and we will have practically a whole year to save we are going to do AKL Savannah view and book when we come home from our Dec trip this year and get at least an AAA rate if there is one.

Only sad thing is we won't renew our AP's since they will expire this year on 11/29 and we won't be back down until 11/26 next year. No point in renewing for 3 days of use so we have to let them lapse and purchase new ones again.

But I do know that we will be staying at WL in 07 instead.

Yeah, I have issues :teeth:

Sounds like you have it all planned out! Sad about the AP dates. I am still thinking about the AP's vs 10 day tix.

That is good to hear it gets calm by Sunday. I hope to check in on Wed after so that would be the 29th since T-gvg is early this year. I want to stay for 10-11 nights and if I had to wait 2 weeks after, it would come closer to Xmas than I want to.
I really want to see the decorations and have fun. I have never gone at this time of year so that is why we are planning for Dec. We normally go in Feb and have gone almost every other month except Dec and Jan.
Now I just have to decide where to stay!

We just started planning for my college graduation celebration  , but we're planning for June 25-July 9 split between Pop Century and OKW :cheer2: . I'm used to going in slower times but since dbf :earsboy: is a teacher now we have to go in the summer...Oh well I'll deal with it, whatever it takes to get my disney fix.

We are currently planning a trip for May 4-16 2006. Staying at AKL Sav.view. I have been thinking a lot though of the dates. I really have the Disney"BUG" right now and I'm thinking of a way to move it up more. But never the less we will be going sometime in the early part of 06'..... Is it 06' YET??????

Ap's are great if you are going more than once in a one year period. They can end up "costing more" though. :rotfl: By that I mean you figure out ways to squeeze in more trips than you planned. We bought AP's last year for our December trip. We stayed 9 nights so it was worth it. I also planned on visiting this year in October so this Octobers trip is almost like getting into the parks free because we already have the tickets. Now when we left last December I was soo bummed that we wouldn't be coming back for the Christmas time this year. Darn it all if I didn't figure out how to sqeeze another small 4 night trip after being home only 7 weeks from our October trip :teeth: (that's where they can end up costing more because of the extra trip ;) ). So we are going at the beginning of October this year and again after Thanksgiving. Bad little AP's :rotfl:

When we have arrived that Sunday after Thanksgiving they already have all the Xmas decorations up in all the parks and resorts so its a great time to go because its less busy, value season which is great for hotel rates and its all decked out for Xmas.

Maybe we'll see ya next year :wave2:

We are planning to go Spring Break (March) '06. This is my husbands first time there. He doesn't understand the need to start planning/making resv. now. We still haven't decided on which resort.

I am planning a trip for Nov. 29- Dec. 5th. I am hoping to surprise my whole family, DH, DD12, DD9 and DS8. I would love to stay at the Poly. I keep wondering if I should make my ressies now- for my budget's sake.

This is our tentative 2006 WDW Calendar:

February: BC 2-15 to 2-18
April: AKL 4-23 to 4-29
July: POLY 7-1 to 7-10
October: GF 10-2 to 10-9
December: WL 12-26 to 1-2-07

I haven't been able to book anything yet, but my DB and I are planning a trip for Sept. 8-20, 2006. We'll be splitting our stay between the Love Bug section of ASMo (if we can get it), and the CR Tower (MK view if possible).

I just finished creating our daily itinerary, though I'm sure I'll be doing a little bit of tweaking before we leave!

We are going Jan 7-14th. We are staying at the Swan(using points for 3 of the nights, hopefully will be able to switch 2 more nights to points soon!) Using frequent flyer miles for our airfare and working the Disney Visa so that we will rewards points to pay for some special meals. I keep telling dh that we can't "afford" not to go :rotfl2:

Haven't booked yet, but planning on:

May 20th - 29th, 2006 at the Polynesian. This will be our first time to stay there, so we are very very excited!

This is also going to be my reward trip to myself for losing weight. I'm extremely determined and will have lost 100 pounds by time I go.

A year from now, ya'll will see a thread started by me that says, "Leaving for WDW in ten days - 100 pounds lighter!" Mark my words!! :wizard:

I've booked Coronado Springs waterview for me and DD who will be 7 then. Dates are 21 - 28 October and we have booked a whole package through Virgin Holidays in the uk. One of their flights is already booked up coming back on the 28th because that is the end of the mid-term holiday here. So excited, so near and yet so far :Pinkbounc Oh well, at least I'll have time to save more $.

We're planning the first week in Dec 06. This will be the first time we've ever gone around the holidays. I'm so excited for the Christmas party :cool1: (sorry - too early in the morning to remember the initials). :confused3
We'll be using points and staying at SSR. Can't wait!!! :cool1: :cool1:
