Hope everyone is well. I have not been on the boards at all recently.
Here is the news for us.
Rachael fractured her jaw on Wednesday, Feb. 28. She was at the ice rink for classes but did not fall on the ice. The rink has a stretching/ballet room that is seperated from where they put on their skates. The half wall had a door in the distant past which broke. To keep the public skaters off of the wood floor some genius tied a rope across the entrance. As Rachael was stepping over the rope her back foot got caught in the rope and she went face first into the floor.
That pretty much put an end to doing anything but see doctors for the rest of the night. First, we went to urgent care. When they found a break, they sent us to the ER at the Children's Hospital. We all got to go home the next day at 6 am.
Her jaw is rubber banded shut, but she saws there is no pain other than the pain of having to eat a constant diet of soft foods.
Here is the amazing part of it. She fell 2 weeks before a competition. Three docs at the ER told her she was not going to skate in the competition.
The Oral surgeon put the rubber bands on and told her she could go back to skating if she felt up to it.
She went to the competition and placed second in her program (her sister, Rebekah was first) and first in the compulsories (her sister, Rebekah was second).
More later about the fact that on January 8, I left my firm to go on my own.
