20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

Dang, and I thought you meant that young MAN you had sailed with! nyuk-nyuk.. :rotfl2:

Yeah, I wish, but unfortunately, I haven't heard from him and don't expect to after this amount of time. Oh well.....it was fun spending time with him! That just means there's somebody better out there for me, just waiting for me to find him! :goodvibes

HEY everybody! I think some of you folks should join me on the May 10, '08 repo!!! Come on, you know you want to see the Panama Canal! Ed? Lionel? Brian? Ginny? Courtney? Anybody? Come join the "Ship of Thieves"! :goodvibes

Funny you should say that. I am trying to get Becky to agree to go. She said that she might be interested but for some reason wanted to the Repo cruise back to Florida. We will see.

We are going in September and I am debating on waiting until then to see if I can get a good deal by booking while we are on the ship.

Hope school is going well.

Hi Lionel!

I actually took this semester off. I was just really burned out. Desperately needed a break.

Tell Becky the May repo is better because the girls won't have to miss as much school. AND I'll be on that one. It's always good to travel with a familiar face! AND the weather won't be unbearably hot like it probably would be in August. AND you could tell her you'd be doing a good deed by spending lots of time talking to me face-to-face to give me career advice and guidance.

By the way, did I mention I'm full of crap?! :rotfl:

Hey Holly!

We have thought about trying to to book the EB repo...but it's not available right now.

The WB repo is just too early in the year!! Plus, I can't even imagine how we'd get our liquidy souvies home. :cutie:

Hi Ginny! Good to "see" you here! I think both repos are sold out; that is, until people start cancelling when final payment is due. Well, maybe I'll be on a cruise with you in the future. Until then, I'm sure I'll stumble across you on the boards occasionally! :thumbsup2

Hey Holly!!!!

I'd love to, but the timing is bad. I'm trying to get my travel venture going so we'll probably have a couple of other trips going on April thru June of 08.

It looks like we ARE going to take a Royal Caribbean this fall. I want to compare my Disney experiences with one of their new, big ships.

Hi Ed! :goodvibes

You'll have to share your comparison observations with me! My next non-Disney cruise will be on Freedom of the Seas, but I have no idea when that will be. Probably won't give it much thought until next year....too many other trips going on until then.

Good luck getting your travel venture off the ground! Keep me posted on how it's going. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is well. I have not been on the boards at all recently.

Here is the news for us.

Rachael fractured her jaw on Wednesday, Feb. 28. She was at the ice rink for classes but did not fall on the ice. The rink has a stretching/ballet room that is seperated from where they put on their skates. The half wall had a door in the distant past which broke. To keep the public skaters off of the wood floor some genius tied a rope across the entrance. As Rachael was stepping over the rope her back foot got caught in the rope and she went face first into the floor.

That pretty much put an end to doing anything but see doctors for the rest of the night. First, we went to urgent care. When they found a break, they sent us to the ER at the Children's Hospital. We all got to go home the next day at 6 am.

Her jaw is rubber banded shut, but she saws there is no pain other than the pain of having to eat a constant diet of soft foods.

Here is the amazing part of it. She fell 2 weeks before a competition. Three docs at the ER told her she was not going to skate in the competition.

The Oral surgeon put the rubber bands on and told her she could go back to skating if she felt up to it.

She went to the competition and placed second in her program (her sister, Rebekah was first) and first in the compulsories (her sister, Rebekah was second).

More later about the fact that on January 8, I left my firm to go on my own.

Lionel

Hey Capt'n

Sorry to hear about Rachael's fall, but give her props for the most excellent comeback. Also congratulations are in order for opening your own firm. Best of luck to you, I'm sure that you will do very well

Regards,
Brian

Hi Lionel! Oh my gosh, poor Rachael! But I'm glad she says she isn't in pain......what amazing results at her competion! WOOHOO! :cheer2: She's one tough cookie!

So what's up with you going out on your own? How did that come about? How's that going so far?

Great to see a post from you here!

Thanks for the congratulations on the move out on my own.

Rachael is healing well. As I believe I said she did well at her competition, and is testing for Pre-Preliminary in May.

With respect to the move, I left my firm the first week in January and was up and running on January 8. (Needless to say my ex-partner was not pleased at all at me leaving since he had stopped practicing law, but had not stopped spending money). All of the clients left with me. Therefore, I just needed to survive the first month until the first invoices were issued, which I successfully did. The monthly billables have been exceeding expectations.

Everyone in the family and all friends are happy that I made the move. The only comment was that I should have done this years ago.

Hope everyone is well and has a Happy Easter.

Lionel

HAPPY 4TH EVERYBODY!

Lionel: How's the new firm doing?

Ed: How's your travel business going? How was the Med cruise?

Holly

The firm is going great. All of the clients stayed with me and I am as busy as ever.

The girls are doing great. They just passed their first free style test--Pre-Preliminary.

On July 15, we are headed to Philadelphia for a figure skating competition.

Hope all are doing well.

Lionel

Glad to see so many good things are happening (sorry for the daughter's problem Cap'n, but it appears she's recovering quite nicely).

As for us...
Holly, we cancelled the Med cruise. Around Christmas, my wife's mom fell and had to go into the hospital, then a recovery home for three months. Early this year, we thought she'd never go home and honestly didn't expect her to live very long, so we cancelled the trip. Glad to say however, that once we did, she made a somewhat miraculous recovery and was able to move back home, albeit with 24 hour a day help.
As for the travel business, it has progressed slowly, as I wanted to make sure I knew what the heck I was doing. It looks like within the next 30 days we'll finalize three group cruises for next summer. They could turn out to be really good ones for us. (Two of them could be 200 cabins each!! The third 50-75) I'll post more here when they are finalized. Right now, looks like one Carnival, one RCL and one Disney.
Although I can't share details here yet, one of these may have special interest for you Disney fans out there. More info to follow.
Let's get the group together and go sailing again!!

ed & dianne

PS, we spent a long weekend at Old Key West over Memorial Day. Had a GREAT time!

Lionel: I'm glad to hear things are going well for you! :goodvibes I've picked up the pace in law school and cut back on my work hours a bit. I'm happily plugging away and after the fall semester, I'll be 1/2 way done. :woohoo: I can finally see light at the end of my tunnel! :yay:

Ed: I'm sorry to hear about Dianne's mom (and your cancelled Med cruise), but happy to hear about her substantial recovery.

Good luck with your group cruises next summer! Sounds great!

I did have a Disney cruise booked for Tyler and I this Nov., but had to cancel. I've cut back on work hours to get through school quicker and just can't come up with the balance for that cruise. However, I might try to take him on a 4 night one soon, just to feed his craving. Poor kid asks me all the time when we're going on another one! I need to take him on one before I go on the Panama Canal one without him.

Ed, great to hear the new business is going well.

Holly, congats on being almost half done with law school. From here on, instead of getting worked to death you get bored to death with the exception of a few courses.

As I indicated in the previous post, we went to Philadelphia on July 15 for a skating competition for the girls. They both medaled with each getting a 4th place medal.

We did get to see the King Tut exhibit and the Liberty Bell while there, but not much else other than the skating rink where they competed.

We got home on Saturday and on Monday they were at the ice rink here at 8 am for lessons. They spend between 2 and 4 hours a day at the rink between lessons and free style practice. (You can guess who is getting the majority of my disposable cash).

They have another competition her in Atlanta on Labor Day Weekend and one in York, PA in October. Then we are done with competitions until March of 2008.

All is well with everyone here. In addition to working at the law firm, I have already started one busines with a partner and Becky and I are about to open a skating retail store close to the rink. While there are stores that sell hockey stuff here, there are no figure skating stores in metropolitan Atlanta. Hopefully, we will be THE store for the figure skaters here. (Sometimes I believe that I have taken leave of my senses to try practicing law full-time and being involved with 2 other businesses. I was recently asked what my hobbies are. I honestly replied "work.").
