So I'm not the only crazy one out there!

Nope you're not alone. I'll watch anything that has a cruise ship in it this close to sailing, well except Speed II. :rotfl:

Ok, I'll bite- exactly why anything BUT Speed II?

The one to watch is just coming off of the coast of Africa today. Timing wise this is actually the one that could keep us out to sea for extra days or off of CC.

Where are you finding info on this one?

Mostly from the NOAA site. The text in their twice daily forcast reads:

TROPICAL WAVES...
A 1008 MB LOW IS ALONG THE COAST OF SENEGAL NEAR 16N17W MOVING W
AT 5-10 KT. POSITION IS BASED ON SURFACE OBSERVATIONS AND
SATELLITE IMAGERY. SCATTERED MODERATE TO ISOLATED STRONG
CONVECTION IS FROM 15N-17N BETWEEN 17W-19W.

The images can be viewed at

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/TROP/DATA/RT/eatl-ir4-loop.html

This site is a great source of early information.

We are leaving for the airport early tomorrow morning to travel to WDW. Can't wait...

Tom and I have been either at the tail end of a tropical storm/named storm or right in front. In December of '03 we were IN the first tropical storm to hit the caribbean in 150 years...Odette! The kids and Tom loved it...I slept great...and the crew was mostly green! Actually our first cruise in 1990 was so choppy that the captain missed the captain's dinner due to the fact that he was seasick! Not on Disney and not out of PC!

The only time though that we have had sailing issues on DCL was the November cruise that got cancelled in 2002. That was really rough on the boys...Abby had gotten her Mommy-Child trip in April...the Wonder with Aaron Carter and Lindsey Lohan....back when she was still appropriate for a younger crowd. Anyway, Disney did a good job and we go 50% off on our next one. That was also way back when the deal on DVC cruising points was WONDERFUL!

So...think positive...while bad weather has surrounded us at times...weather has never negatively affected out cruise!!! Pixie Dust!!! pixiedust:

Holly...I love your new idea for your law books. Could we borrow a few???? I have never really understood why they make us leave OUR room on Saturday morning. Captain Blue, do you think you could AARRRGGHHH your way into letting them keep our little Dis group on???? pirate:

Actually, it isn't until about 1:15 on disembarkation day that I get depressed...because someone else can get into my room. How dare they!

Okay...think fun...think back to back cruises! How awesome would that be! Castaway Cay would be so much better if I knew we weren't having to leave the ship the next day!

Who is going to go see INVINCIBLE on the ship????

The only one that has made me reconsider my plans is still Deep Water. The plot of Speed II works for me...after all it would be a great vacation story to tell. Too bad it is a silly movie!

Important Information

Tropical Weather Update

As of 5 p.m. Friday, August 25, 2006:

We are currently monitoring Tropical Storm Ernesto very closely as it moves toward the Western Caribbean, and we are prepared to make itinerary changes if needed.

At this time, there have been no changes to the August 26, 2006 sailing of the Disney Magic or the August 27, 2006 sailing of the Disney Wonder.

The safety of our guests and crew is always our top priority. If necessary, our Captains are always prepared to alter the ships' itineraries to navigate away from inclement weather for the safety and well being of our guests

Okay, since you are avoiding Larry like the plague, can we vote him out of the group picture now? :confused3

Didn't even tell him anything about this board!!!! He might wonder were we've all run off too!

Is anybody heading down to watch the Space Shuttle take off on Sunday? Call me a geek, but I am actually hoping for for some bad weather this weekend so they would have to postpone.

Let's all go up to Larry individually, look at him with a puzzling look, and say... "so YOU'REEEEE Larry..... hmmmm....".

It is clear that I am spending way too much time checking to see what everyone is talking about...I just changed my internet explorer home page to disboards to save time logging in. Yes, I know this is sick. Yes I know at least three of you are going to do it too. Wish we were already on the trip! :dance3:

Brian and family, and anyone else heading down to WDW early...

Safe journeys! Enjoy your time! The parks are ideal at this time! I get in on Thursday night...Tom flies in early on Friday. We try to fly separately when the kids are not with us. I am still trying to catch up from being gone most of the summer! But getting back to Florida always feels like coming home!

Unfortunately, I've never even heard of Invincible or most of the other movies showing onboard. I'll have to take the time to look them up soon. Tyler and I have already seen Cars, want to see POC2 if I can do it when Tyler's in the club, I've seen Narnia, and almost rented 8 Below (I think that's what it's called---the one with the sled dogs?) but figured I'd wait and see it onboard.

I will definitely go see Invincible, POC2, and 8 Below (even though I have already seen POC2 once already). If you are planning on going to see POC2, make sure you watch POC before the cruise. The girls loved both movies and now all of our cabin door signs have to have Captain Jack on them.

I had a real nice one with the Disney Princesses on it that said Happy Birthday. They both said it was nice, but it would be perfect if I could change the Disney Princesses to Captain Jack. pirate:

Arrrggghhh.....
