Okay Capn Blue, it appears that eveyone has abandoned us and is either shopping or packing (or if they are good, they are doing both at the same time).

Hey! I'm still here! I've just been busy watching cruise disaster movies! :rotfl2:

We're cleaning the house before DW comes home tomorrow. She's been gone for thepast week. I'm checking occasionally.

Jeff

I am so far behind. This is my busy season at work and I'm trying to get so much done before we leave.

sports - you mean there are other sports beside pro football? That's all DH watches or cares about. Favorite team is the Steelers. Aren't they playing while we are on board?

I got my docs last week. They actually arrived two weeks ago, I just hadn't had the chance to pick them up.

Someone asked about a sweater. I've always taken a lightweight 3/4 length sweater. I tend to be cold natured and it's chilly at night on the ship for me.

I haven't even started packing! I'm stressing over bringing all DS's baby food and milk. I was going to carry it all on, but now I have to pack a weeks worth of this stuff. Please Northwest, do not lose my suitcase!

I will be doing laundry and packing all weekend.

I'm still here, too, just don't have much to say. (my DH would never believe that one)

I'm just stressing big time over everything left for me to do. We leave Wednesday.

Yes, they're playing, but it is pre-season, so it's ok to be on the boards. Besides, we all know that preseason means NOTHING to the Steelers. However, 1st regular season game is Thursday of cruise week!!! That's going to be interesting. Well, my DIS time is up and I need to go check them out again. GO STEELERS.

Did you let the house get dirty while your DW was away?

No - you know how women are. Ann would stress all week about packing and cleaning before we leave. So we decided to try and reduce her stress by doing a top to bottom cleaning. I told the girls if they didn't help they would not get thier on-boad credit. It's working.... :thumbsup2

Are we there yet? See you guys soon!

Capn, since they're jumping ship, I think I'll pull my suitcase out of the attic and start putting some goodies together!!

(Thinking about having to get up at 3AM next Saturday to catch that flight... Yikes!!)

I just set my alarm clock for exactly that, 3:00 AM. I'm sure that the kids are going to just love me in the morning. Have a great weekend all!!

What a guy!!!!! Maybe I can get you and my DH together and some of your good husbandly vibes will rub off on him. Since he hasn't done anything to get ready for this cruise, maybe you can teach him a thing or two! :teacher:

Hope you got it all clean. Just imagine how much stress you would take off of her if you had it all packed too. But, then she would probably have to unpack it and pack it back right.

We are headed up to Athens for the weekend. We are planning on packing when we get back on Sunday. This week should be a short one for me. I only work 3 days. So if we do not get it done Sunday we can finish when I am off.
Still need to do a little shopping for my stuff. I think DW has everything for her and the kids.

See ya in a week!

Hey! We just hit 83 pages. At the rate we are going we should break 100 easily.

I did not read that many pages in college. Well, I probaly did it a few times the night before an exam. Short term memory works well most of the time.

:) I'm hoping our girls learn a thing or two from this. The biggest challenge to this round of cleaning has been their bedrooms.

Boy, I go to the bed and everyone gets talkative.

Monstro, the hardest about getting our house cleaned is convincing my girls that THEY need to clean THEIR room. They have convinced themselves that fairies are going to visit their room in the middle of the night, sprinkle pixie dust pixiedust: and the room will be cleaned OR that being unable to see the floor is somehow within the definition of a "clean room" OR mom and dad will eventually get sufficiently disgusted and clean the entire room for them.

They also believe this constitutes cleaing -- :happytv:

To compound the problems, one of their best friends from church loudly and proudly announced to my girls that she does not have to do any chores. :confused3

My girls were quickly dispossessed of the idea that the same rules that applied at their friend's house applied here.

The girls also believe that cleaning is something that is done once and never need be done again. (The protest that they need not help clean the kitchen after supper because they helped yesterday). Little credence is paid to that argument and the cleaning begins.

Our cleaning will probably start later today--not because DW has been gone, but, God forbid, that we should leave a house to go on vacation with anything out of place.

That's what I'm saying. Ann has been talking all week about coming home and cleaning the house. I think she will be pleasantly surprised. Her parents get here Tuesday morning and we fly to Orlando Friday. So I figured there is a double wammy here - clean for her parents and clean for the vacation... nothing out of place. :thumbsup2

Let the packing begin :cool1:

It will be interesting to see how tropical storm Ernesto affects the upcoming Western cruise. I hope someone posts a live thread.

Is this my husband here? I also have a problem going on vacation unless my house is clean. Rob also doesn't understand why we pick up for the cleaning lady either. As many times I've tried to explain it he still doesn't get that I don't want to come home from a relaxing vacation and have to clean my house.

I'm opposite from most women in my way of thinking most of the time. My philosophy is: There will always be more to clean, so why worry about it before vacation? There's enough to worry about, like packing, paying my bills before I go, arranging for the post office to hold my mail, making sure I close all my windows, etc. When I'm on vacation, I don't worry whether my house will be clean when I return. And when I get home, after unpacking, I have to clean anyway: put away any clothes we took that may not have been worn, doing laundry (unless I feel like doing it onboard), finding a place for all the souvineers we buy, mow the yard, etc. So for me, I'd rather not do all that twice. Just once when we get home---it helps me ease back into reality before heading back to work. :thumbsup2

Yup, looks like they'll be doing an Eastern instead. That's a bummer for them not to get to see places and do stuff they planned, but it's the risk we all take booking in September.

I've lost my excitement and am just getting irritated because I'm TIRED OF WAITING for it to be our turn to cruise!!!!! And I'm stressed out because my dad is trying to get me to go out of town to their house for my birthday dinner after he gets back from vacation on Monday. So that only leaves Tuesday because Wednesday I'm headed to the casino with a couple friends, Thursday will be packing night, going to a wedding Friday night. Busy, busy, busy, as all of you understand all too well. :teeth:

"Dad, I don't have time to drive to your town for a birthday dinner....just put a check in the mail, please!"

Jeff - That is so sweet!!! :cloud9: My DH has just taken the kids to the grandparents so that we can get something done. He is cleaning the bathrooms and washing the kitchen floors today! :Pinkbounc  :cheer2: I hate to do bathrooms!!!

Along with the cleaning, we are going shopping for MORE stuff for the cruise. Then we are going to wash, iron and begin packing. :cool1:

This will be the only time I have to pack, since I have to start work on Monday. I have no idea what I will be doing the first weeks of school, but I will eventually plan something.... :confused3 :rolleyes1

Well - gotta go clean, shop and pack. Oh and also plan something for the kiddos at school!!!

TTFN.
Jen

P.S. -- GO STEELERS!!! :cheer2:
