20060902--Eastern Sept 2nd, 2006

Monstro,

Since you mentioned DH (46), it should be pointed out that he will be DH (47) by the time any of you meet him! In addition to celebrating his birthday, it is our 20th anniversary this year so I ordered cakes for two different nights. :cool1: All of you should feel free to join us in celebration and cake!

Maybe one of you would be kind enough, when you meet Dave (DH), to remind him that we are celebrating our anniversary, just in case he forgot!!! :rotfl2:

For those of you who are following the wild year we are having...our house goes up for sale next week. With any luck we will be Floridians by the time the cruise comes around. I am not certain I will know how to pack with airline regulations retraining me :thumbsup2

As for shore excursions, we saw a trvel channel special on St John and have decided that we are going to do something there on that day. We are finally going to try parasailing on the day at Castaway Cay...basically we are just hoping that September will not be like last year! :wave2:

We got our cruise planning kit yesterday. Gonna start looking at those shore excursions..... It's been a long wait.

We booked this cruise in Jan 05 while we were on the Wonder.

THIS JUST IN!...

Hi Robin- Where in FL are you moving? Do you have your TA keeping an eye out for FL resident rates? We're in Melbourne (about 25 min or so from the Port- can't get much more convenient than that!) I am crossing my fingers for a FL resident rate like the ones they offered last year- they were SO cheap- but by the time i really thought about doing it they were all gone...so I went ahead and booked this cruise. The TA said we can change over to the FL resident rate if it's offered later on. Probably still a few months from those specials for the fall.

well lets see, what excursions to plan??? hmm... trip to the store for diapers and followed by maybe even a 2nd trip (to a different store) for more diapers... :P j/k... I'm sure you guys will have a blast! I just wanted to share that we found out Monday that we are having a little boy! Our oldest son (4) is very upset... He really wanted another sister? He doesn't want to accept we are having a little boy!! Must be his red hair!! :P

Just wanted to share!

Hi all! I haven't had time to post for a few months, but have been reading everybody's whenever I get a chance. Just finished final exams, so I'll have 2 weeks between semesters to post all I want. :woohoo:

On the excursions topic, when my son Tyler and I did a 7day Magic last September, we did an excursion in EVERY port. He mentioned the other day how we did so much stuff last time and were so busy. He's almost 4 and is therefore old enough to remember all his favorite things to do onboard, so this time I think we'll relax a bit and only do 1 or 2 excursions. Tyler actually loved coming with me to play bingo, so we'll probably do that a couple times. Last week he was imitating the funny stuff the bingo caller was saying and told me "That's what Travis always said". We're both dying with anticipation!! He tells me the first thing he's going to do when we get on the ship is have a Mickey Bar because it's his favorite. YUM! Sounds like a good plan to me!

Hey -- where's our planning kit? :teeth:

Planning kit? I didn't get one the last 2 cruises. What is it? I check out the cruise website to learn about what excursions there are. Is the planning kit something more than that? :confused3

It's a very nice scrapbook looking thing. It has Five Charpters:

1. Shore Excursions
2. Quick Tips for Smooth Sailing
3. Gifts
4. Setting Sail - Disney Magic
5. Formal Wear (A advertisment to rent)

Most all of this is on the Disney Cruise Line Web Site

Thanks Monstro. I'm sure I've probably already seen all that info on the website, but it will be nice to see something tangible. Something to hold in my hand and ease my need for a dis cruise fix. :goodvibes

Since DD will only be 4 1/2 we probably won't do any official shore excursions. The only ones she could do are the beach trips and it looks way cheaper to just walk or take a cab to the beach in St. Thomas and St. Maartan. That's probably all we'll do- hit the beach in both those spots. Hopefully there will be another trip once she's older and we can do the dolphin encounter!

I did look at Coral World Ocean Park, coralworldvi. com (I can't post links but I assume people can figure out how to find it on the web) so we might do that if we don't feel like 3 beach days. My kids love aquariums so i know that would be a big hit with both of them.

Anyone else have any plans with younger kids?

Ugh- how much longer until we can book spa and palo?! I dreamt the other night that we were two days into the trip and had forgotten to make the ressies so we were scrambling to get in!

-Courtney

Courtney, thanks for mentioning Coral World! I went to their website and it looks great! My son (4) would probably love it and it would be cheaper than other excursions we were thinking about.

Hi there!

DH and I take the first week in September for the two of us! We cruised last year as a couple and loved it. Don't feel too bad, we bring the kiddos with us often!!! We are also booked on July 28, 2007 Med, so DH and DW!!!

Looking forward to getting to know y'all!
Wishing you Pixie Dust! :tink:

just booked our flights on southwest leaving Baltimore/Washington 9-1-06 @10:25 to Jacksonville to pick up my sister and her family 18 in our party so far. everyone calls me Ms. Soical Director, because I always plan everything to the "T", but still having problems finding an off shore excusion and a non-DCL, swimming with the Dolphins because my youngest is 2 1/2 and everyone wants to travel together and leaving her on board isn't an option for me. Anyone have any ideas???????????

Can wait 4 months 1 week to go, I count down everyday!!!!!!!!!

We're thinking about moving our reservations to a different travel agent for more on-board credit. Anyone here done that? WE are currently reserved through Disney.

This is our first disney cruise (sad, since we live in orlando)!......It will be me and DH, DD 4 and DS 2. I hope all goes well, as the kids can be high maintenance when they miss their afternoon 2 hr nap!!!! :bounce:
My DD will love to meet your kids in the Oceaner's club--just drop me a line and I will tell her all about your kids!
I do have two questions though, what is a passporter? And when is Pirate night?!

Any advice for the first disney cruise with a 4 yr old and a 2 yr old (both have birthdays right before the cruise.) I am wondering what to pick for shore excursions. I am nervous to leave them on the ship while we go on an excursion, so I was thinking either the beach or a driving/sightseeing tour. Any thoughts?!

Thank you so much!

Well we just reserved swimming with the dolphins which will permit my youngest DD 2 1/2 to watch or even pet the dolphin with my husband or myself we went directly to the website dolphindiscovery.com it's the same one disney cruise lines use but cheaper, check it out. But that all we will be doing in ST.Maarten and just checking out some shop and the beaches. Nothing really planned from St.John, St.Thomas maybe just a sightseeing tour.

If you are doing the Dolphin experience, don't plan any other activities. Granted, doing it on your own you might not have the same trapped feeling. It is at least an hour ferry ride to Anguilla then you are there for about 6+/- hours. Then the ride back. All in all our experience took up 9 hours of St. Maarten. It was a very long day.

Good luck!

Hey everyone! Just wanted to pop back in and wish all of you great weather and a "Magical" cruise. We have loved our two Disney cruises this last year but after much thought we have decided to branch out. We have been longing to go to Alaska, so we have cancelled our planned cruise with you in September and we are going to Alaska on NCL in August instead.

We love DCL and will definitely be back, just not this year. We will miss meeting all of you, but we hope you all have an amazing vacation!
