We head "Up North" when we go to Wisconsin. As a matter of fact, we picked Cameron up from summer camp "Up North" yesterday. Eight more merit badges under his belt (or on his sash ;) ) now! :thumbsup2 Time for him to complete the two he's working on which are Eagle required so he can hopefully advance in rank towards the end of the year. At least that's his plan. Stacy, I can't wait for Cameron & Nick to compare notes of which merit badges they have completed. :cool1: :rotfl2:

8 merit badges!! So when do the boys sleep and eat to earn that many? Yowza!

We have to wait until we get to camp to see what merit badges Nick will sign up. We will get the schedule of what badges they will be offering for the boys to work on when we arrive on Sunday at camp and they sign up after dinner that night.

WOW ,,, Monday sure came quick. We had a busy weekend. Nick and I went to our company picnic... no bucks spent on this thing..... Then he had a baseball game. After the game we went to see Ratatouille!

Sunday it was back to home improvements - trying to finish Nicks bathroom... BUT i seemed to spend more time at the Home Depot. I had issues buying the right thing this week. :confused3

NEXT FRIDAY!!!!!!!! Cedar Point here we come!!!!

Cameron was the only one who earned 8, which was the most of anyone in his troop.

He didn't set out to earn that many, it just worked out well for him. Our troop is a little different, they decide and register for the merit badges they want to work on so when they get to camp, the schedule is already laid out. Cameron decided while there to earn the Art, Indian Lore, another one that I can't recall right now (but he'll know ;) ) and since he had a partial on rifling and did well when he shot, the counselor felt he earned that one as well. Originally the plan was for him to work on 4 - Environment Science, Life Saving, Basketry, and another I can't remember now -- :rotfl2: showing my age, aren't I. ;) And, in his spare time, he worked with another boy on the beginning of Communications. I do know that he didn't do much swimming and didn't fish at all. But as long as this is what he chose to do, that's all that counts in my book. :thumbsup2

Before he left, he was worried that he would even get a partial on one. I told him it didn't matter to me if he didn't, as long as he had fun. To hear that he earned 8, I have to say, we were rather surprised.

Now if I could only get him to clean his room and pick up his dirty clothes. :rolleyes1

I'm not sure Karen will post prior to the CP trip. Just in case she doesn't, I talked to her last night and she wanted to make sure that everyone who was headed to Cedar Point brought a sweatshirt of some type. Being it's on a pennisula, Karen said it could get chilly at night. Better to be prepared than shivering with your neighbors. ;)

Very good point. Even this evening it is a bit chilly by the lake.

Of course a few beers / drinks will also help warm your inner core ;)

Sweatshirts!!! I don't need no stinkin sweatshirts!!! I'm bringing enough alcohol to keep me NICE and TOASTY for the entire weekend!!!! :drinking1 :beach:

It's been freezing here--it was 49 last night.
Reason I'm moving to FL #429= It should be illegal for the temps to be in the 40s in JULY!!!!

It would be great if we could figure out what Merit Badges Nick wanted to do before camp but we don't get the schedule of what is being offered that week until we get to camp.
I guess they do that because depending on what counselors can work that week will depend on what they offer.
Nick earned his Art, Archery, & Basketry at camp last year. They only have the afternoon to work on Merit badges their first year of Boy Scout camp since the new boys do what is called the Pioneer Program and they work on many acheivements towards their 2nd & 1st class ranks

Hello God - can you please speak to Mother Nature about the excessive rain we have here and perhaps send it on to our friends who need it? I think we might grow gills soon

Hi All - I just returned from my sorority convention in Palm Springs where it was BEAUTIFUL (and 115 :scared1: in the shade) to our rain soaked area where people's homes are slidding into creeks and we have some serious weeds growing.
Sorry about all that rain. Sharing "some" of it is nice.

Mary, glad you made it safely. Enjoy your holiday.

Cindy, Congratulations to Cameron. That is a lot of effort to get those badges.

Stacey, Nick thinking of trying to get several or just what works?

DS made it through Life Scout I think that's the one just before Eagle. He decided to not pursue Eagle. I feel the program gave DS opportunities to do different things than we would have offered him.

We've got neighbors shooting off fireworks all evening. My pup can't sleep and is terrified. So I am up holding him.

CP--definitely want to have some sweatshirts handy just in case. PD that it is going to be a perfect weekend. We are still planning to stop out. Just now it will be a bit later than we first figured. I need to take DS to eye doc apt Sat so we will leave after that. We'll find everyone there after we get to the point!

Happy 4th of July

I will pass along the birthday wishes when I can. Gary thought last night that maybe, just maybe, he'd have today off, but the phone rang bright and early to change those plans. :sad2: We'll see if he makes it home in time for birthday cake tonight.
