2006 DVC Member Cruise - SSMC06 - October 22, 2006

Well I'm not about to get in a debate over on the DVC board, but I think the person who said we can't use cash for any of the cruise is wrong! Do you know how many members they would lose if that was the case?

If we have to use all points we can - it will just wipe us out of 2006 points and we'll pay cash for our rooms in May and September. I'd rather go half points/half cash and I firmly believe we'll be able to .

Where is batman when we need him?

We booked with cash + points on the last Member Cruise...

Someone reported that they called MS and the MS rep said that no decision on cash/points has been made.

Mary, I would let mark do some math... I would find out what the member rate is for the rooms on the sept trip, divide it by the points needeed (to get a $$/Point amount) and do the same thing with the stateroom points. I calculated it out and the cruise is around $7 a point on average (much cheaper than renting points...)


If you like, tell me the dates I will call MS and fond the rates and do the math for you....

I just called member services, and asked to have this question verified by a supervisor....

Q-Can we pay cash for some or all of the DVC Member cruise?
A-You can pay cash for some or all of it, as many rooms as you would like...
R- Provided there is availability and you have enough room on you credit cards...

OK, Here is the problem for the day... I just called Member Services and asked them a question...
"I DON'T KNOW, WE DO NOT HAVE THE POINTS CHART OUT YET AND WE NEVER HAVE HAD IT. IT IS STILL GOING THROUGH QUALITY CONTROL. SOMEONE POSTED IT OUT ON THE INTERNET AND IT IS NOT TRUE. WE HAVE NEVER HAD THEM."

OK, last week I talked to at least 4 different CM's who read me the info. Today, the info has never been there!

Someone posted it on the internet..."That Would be me"

I feel so evil and dirty now... I can only seem to upset people... Might I please have some moral support?

David, One thing I have found over the years is that you can ask 3 different cast members and get three different answers. Why? Not sure but it always seems to happen.

I'm sure that you didn't pull all those numbers out of a hat so someone gave them to you. Based on what I had heard those figures are right where I thought they should be so I'm thinking that the chart is fairly accurate. Does that mean there won't be changes? No. Does it mean that they haven't been getting lots of negative feedback about the spa being closed and they are thinking of changing the points? No again. Does it mean that we will only know the official points once they are posted? Yes.

In the meantime the chart is a good starting point for people to budget with.

David - perhaps you could go and edit it just to the point of that is what you were told but the points/cash won't be official until posted by DVC.

Mary, I editted my post on page 30, and I editted where I quoted myself to add:

Please Note that on 11/15/2005 Member services no longer has this information and it is only a guide to my best guess. It will not be official until posted on their website, and will probably change. I was originally given this info on 11/8/2005 by several CM's at Member services, and pointed out at least one error in the chart. It was implied in my post that it will have at least one change.

I can only hope that the price goes down especially for children. I just wish we knew the exact amount. It is starting to drive me crazy. I am such an overplanner. I have nothing to plan right now as our trip in Jan is already planned. I think I will drive my family nuts before this is over.

Amy, if you would add a warning on your quotes of me on pages 44 and 42 I think it would be apropriate, ant Disney#1fan, you quoted me also on page 42. I would apreciate giving a nod to the DVC g-d's.

I cannot be responsible for it being posted on other threads, but I would hope that Member Services' wishes that it be marked unnoficial and/or preliminary be taken seriously.

Me oh my... such a fuss about nothing. I can see the flood of calls to MS now.....

The lady I spoke to earlier today ( on other business) offered up the point chart to me, and I said I already had it, but was hopeful it would be posted on the website soon... she said I didnt have to wait, she had all the info.

Don't worry about it! Like Mary says, ask 3 CMs you get 3 different answers!

Maybe they were using you as a pawn to see what our reaction would be to the "Unoffical" cash/point chart?!?

I don't think you are evil and dirty!! And we are a pretty easy going bunch, so I don't think you are upsetting the majority. You were just trying to be helpful. And when the points charts did officially come out, if there was some sort of discrepancy, I surely wouldn't hold you responsible!! Oh, yea, MS....ohanafamily said it would be this amount, so you should hold me to his point quote!

If there's one thing I learned from posting on these boards is no matter what.....some people just aren't going to be happy, you can't please everyone, and everyone doesn't get along. Well, I guess that's three things....but you get the idea. Move along....nothing more to see here.
