I have a cruise question -- believe it or not ;)

Last year, we brought a stack of Walmart gift cards to give out to the Cast Members working on the cruise in addition to the predetermined DVC tips.

Is this still a good plan or does anyone know, do the Cast Members prefer something else now?

I gave Target last year and a giant sized bag of candy to the girls at Flounders. I was thinking maybe Itunes gift cards this year because I was thinking most younger people have ipods and would love the chance to get some free tunes.

Cheryl, take it easy and feel better soon! :wizard:

Thanks, Karen!! It summed up my feelings pretty well.

Although I was not a nice person the rest of the day  :guilty:

Walker & I headed to the grocery store --- Sunday afternoon at the grocery store is not my cup of tea. I seldomly shop anyway, as Gary does the majority of it for our household. So, I'm checking out, the lines are 100 people deep and it's my turn to unload my groceries. I'm trying to get to them, but this lady behind me keeps coming closer and closer and closer to me. Breathing down my back, leaning against my cart, getting in my way. And  I lost it. I looked at her and told her if she got any closer to me again, I'd push her out of my way. The look on Walker's face was one that is burned into my memory for good now -- he was shocked that I threatened this woman. She really deserved it, but I should have controlled myself and not let my anger get in the way of asking her nicely to just leave my cart alone and move away.

I have to say it worked though because she took a step back and didn't get in my way again. :)

I can not tell you how many times I have wanted to do that!!! Cheers to you!! :cheer2:

The other thing I can't stand is when you're in a line for something and the person in front or behind you feels the need to tell you how slow the cashier/sales person whatever is at full volume over and over again. I was in Macy's once and this older woman started complaining and I turned around and said to her---you know what, I'll hold your spot in line, you go over to the HR dept and fill out an application and show me how you can do a better job than her.

Alright--now some people are really slow and really not-to-bright (I'm being nice) but yelling about it is only going to make that person move slower! I was a cashier at a supermarket for years in HS and college---Trust me, I know! ;)

This from a woman who tried to tell me I should do my own.

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm glad I went with my instincts.

I have my appointment for my hair and pedicure already scheduled.

Can't forget those feet! ::yes:: :cloud9:

I've done my own for years--all one color, Nice N Easy....it really is easy. As easy as shampooing your hair. Now highlights with the cap and the hook and the BLEACH that is just something that even creatively talented little-old me cannot do!

Or else you'll be first on the list for early morning wake up calls! (or late night, whatever your least perferred time is!)

Now I know you have been up to something I don't know about yet. :scratchin :crazy2:

That's not ever the case around here. Usually it's b/c he wants to BUY something!! :)

I remember when I went on a cross stitch weekend long ago. I called home to check on the kids and I heard beeping in the background. The conversation went like this:

me: what's the beeping?
mike: what beeping?
me: you don't hear the beeping?
mike: huh?
me: what is that incessant beeping?
mike: uh...i don't know what you're talking about.
me: THAT BEEPING? you don't HEAR IT???
mike: oh, THAT beeping.
me: yeah, what is it?
mike: nothing.

turned out it was satellite TV and the beeping was the dish trying to pick up the signal!!

I was thinking about this last night in my sickened state, and was far too weak to get up and post. :lmao: I'm feeling much better today. Just a sore throat now, I can deal with that. I even made it to the gym and to the animal shelter with the girls for a moms club field trip. Luckily, my marriage is safe for now because Bruce warned me if I brought home another pet, that pet would replace me in the house. :lmao: There was a 2 month old mitten pawed kitten though that was just entirely too cute to spend another night in the shelter.....:scratchin maybe I need to start looking for an apartment. :worried:

Anyway---I was thinking ladies---sorry boys, not to specifically exclude you, but I am ;) Do we want to have a little bachelorette celebration for our friend Julie's last single days? Nothing spectacular, nothing long lasting, just a few minutes, just a drink, or two, or however many to celebrate maybe after the show one night? Maybe we can get Captain Henry to do a little dance for us? :lmao:

I really wish she'd do more out of the home visits. We've been really lucky as she did my hair the morning we were married as well as all of our hair the day of the last family wedding we stood up in.

Please tell me that you didn't stand up at the part where they say "if anyone knows why these two should not be married, speak now or forever hold your peace....."

:lmao:

After the grocery store story, I wouldn't put it past you!!!

still trying to figure out why the family had to have nice hair to do that!! :lmao:

I have a friend with 4 kids who has the same response every time her dh asks her what she wants for Christmas (or birthday, or anniversary) She says "I want my own apartment." So far, that's NOT the gift she has received!! :) :lmao:

She says the reason is she wants someplace that she can clean and it will STAY THAT WAY!!! :)

My hair color story is a good one. When my long time hair dresser told me her prices were going up because she is a "master stylist". She had already highlighted my hair for years (and permed then). So a friend offered to highlight my hair for me at home. It turned out fine. DH and I decided I might as well go for the full coverage color at about $7.00 per box instead of $50 at the salon. I have had MANY compliments on my color. It's "Nice and Easy"! Just make sure you don't just look at the color of the model on front. There is a guide on the side of the box that shows how that color affects different colors of hair. Also, have a friend help you to make sure you get full coverage.

Chris
I figure that once the gray takes over (which it's getting close) then I'll probably give a try to all-over box color. But, for now, the highlights are somewhat disguising the gray.

See what I miss out on by working in an office. I couldn't tell you what my UPS or FedEx driver looks like. :)

Same here Mary...Its usually left on the doorstep when I get home, or if it needs to be signed for, then its left with my friend at Pak-mail...I do wish I could see the drivers :teeth:

Would that have been a JC Penney salon?

I go to a master designer -- who has been there longer than I know Gary. Believe it or not, she use to do Gary's ex-wife's hair and silly me, I trusted her with mine. Now I can't imagine trusting anyone else.

I really wish she'd do more out of the home visits. We've been really lucky as she did my hair the morning we were married as well as all of our hair the day of the last family wedding we stood up in.
My problem was that when I moved to FL, I had to find an actual stylist. When I was living in Chicago, my best friend from high school had become a stylist, so she would do my hair, and before her, her mom used to do my hair because she was a teacher at a cosmetology school. They had known me SO long that I didn't really have to tell them what I wanted, they just knew my likes/dislikes.

And, I was pretty lucky to find my first stylist here, but then after a couple of years, he dropped off the face of the earth. I don't know what happened, he just was all of a sudden no longer in town. But, I did find a pretty great girl to do it now, it's just getting SO expensive.

I'm going to do what I did last year for the kids club and Flounder's, which is to buy them some candy. I think for everyone else, I'm just going to break down and give them some extra cash and a handmade thank you card.
